  1. Injuries this year have been ridiculous. Wonder what the timetable is for Thames to return. I kind of assume he can just heal like Wolverine and be back after 10 days.
  2. I think you nailed it. We already have a younger, cheaper version of Ozuna in Santana, and they spent the whole offseason trying to dump him. Other than, you know, Ozuna's Gold Glove defense.
  3. A lot of forgotten names with 2014 next to their name. Quite the turn around from then to now. Thanks for putting this together!
  4. I believe I saw Hellweg is closing games for AAA Indy Indians (Pirates affiliate) this year... They opened at home against the Columbus Clippers... Wow. Sure enough, he is still pitching. That actually really surprises me.
  5. No kidding. Logan Schafer, Kyle Heckathorn and Nick Bucci were some of our other top organizational prospects from that era. Top organizational prospect doesn't equal top prospect if the system stinks. Don't forget about the second coming of Randy Johnson... Johnny Hellweg
  6. The fact that Hiura is starting the season in A+ ball and not AA makes me think the Brewers are not fast tracking him for 2019. The arm thing is scary. Maybe he ends up being a Khris Davis type in LF? Maybe by the time he's ready for MLB there'll be the DH in the NL? Keston barely got his feet wet in A ball, so I wouldn't say starting him in A+ to start his first full season isn't fast-tracking. This arm issue sucks. Agreed it is scary. Will this be a lingering thing every year? Is it worth to get it operated on and get it over with? Tough questions that don't have clear answers. This is one thing that could be limiting his fast-track to the MLB.
  7. For all we know, Domingo could pinch hit for Thames in the 5th or 6th if a lefty comes in from the bullpen. Then Braun would move to first and Domingo moves to the outfield.
  8. Stearns isn't going to trade a player and not receive what he feels to be a fair return. The rumors were that Keon Broxton was receiving more attention this winter. The logjam of OF isn't ideal right now, but you can't trade away someone to for the sake of trading away someone.
  9. I think this is a brilliant move. Seems like a subliminal message to the Cardinals since Dozier will be a free agent after this season (blue text?).
  10. I think the injuries have had a much larger impact for the drop off than not using PEDs. That thumb injury is no joke. Braun literally couldn't pull the ball for an entire season (not to mention his plethora of other injuries). I do wonder if his PED use was for injury prevention/recovery or if the use of PEDs has caused more soft tissue injuries later in his career.
  11. I'm talking about individual matchups. For the most part, I would say yes. But there are also cases like Travis Shaw vs. Ivan Nova. 11-H 14-AB with 2-2Bs & 3-HRs.
  12. Here's to a successful season! Feel like a kid on Christmas.
  13. Looks like I'll have to change my picture. That's a lot to give up imo, but I am also a big fan of Yelich.
  14. Now the wait to see who the Brewers gave up. Love adding Yelich to the team!
  15. I'd hang on to Diaz. I think his stock will be much higher come the trade deadline or next year. I'd prefer to not trade him with the down year he had.
  16. McCalvy quoted it in a tweet of his own, for me that provides significantly more credibility. A trade for Yelich is one of my least desired off-season moves of the possiblities floated to this point. It is one of my most desired. Yelich is what I pray Brinson or Phillips will turn into, a .300, 25 HR, .375-.400 OBP player. It will likely take one of them, but if somehow the Brewers could have a trade centered around Santana for Yelich, I am all in. Agreed, especially when you consider he's a nice upgrade on defense too (and a lefty).
  17. Jordy was great in the slot last year when he played there. He could be the Packers version of Fitgerald. Either way, if Cobb and/or Nelson aren't restructured, one of them should be cut.
  18. I believe Leonard was in the top half of defensive coordinators in the Big Ten pay-wise, and only slightly behind an established d-coordinator in Schiano despite being in his first year as a coordinator. I think the assistant pay stuff was a crappy excuse given by Bielema as his reason for leaving more than a serious issue, IMO. It's really not. Leonard is making 600k. Aranda is making 1.8 Million at LSU. This is also the first time Leonhard has been a D-Coordinator. With the limited coaching experience, 600K isn't too bad. It's more than what Wilcox and Aranda received at Wisconsin. It will be interesting to see if Wisconsin would open up its pocketbook for someone that has done so much for the University.
  19. Against the wolves on their 2nd of a B2B, who had 3 starters had all played 40+ minutes the night before and played 36+ last night? It's almost like they got tired in the 4th. I wonder why? Yes, if they regularly outscore teams 27-12, they'll win a lot of games, but if they regularly go down 20 in the 3rd quarter they won't. Typical Thibodeau. On that same note, it will interesting to the playing time that Giannis receives tonight.
  20. Agreed, I think this may be a direct replacement for Drake. Not sure if this affects Hader at all (as far as bumping him to the rotation or staying in the pen).
  21. Brewers Farm‏ @BrewersFarm Boone Logan is a year removed from pitching a .139/.222/.225 line to lefties in 46 innings (31 IP to lefties). He's coming off a pretty injury-filled season. Indians had declined his $7M option. #Brewers 4:52 PM - 21 Dec 2017
  22. Maybe it is just the personnel but it just seems like they've went away from an offense that includes the tight end. I think the personnel had a lot to do with it to start the season. Losing Bak and Bulaga to start the season really limited the TE position imo. Bennett spent a lot of time helping the tackles and fading off to the flats. I do think (why I had it in moves that I want) a TE like Trey Burton is the type of TE this offense needs. He fits more of the Jordan Reed mold.
