  1. It was definitely Saban(which I only remember because I just watched a profile on him the week before the CFB Title game). He wanted Brees and when he failed his physical, he said it helped him realize how little control he had in the NFL compared to in College. He couldn't overrule the medical staff as Wolf did with the Favre trade. That seems weird to me. A guy fails his physical and that makes Saban realize how little control he had? He could have signed a free agent, made a trade, something! In college, a guy goes down, you don't have any of those options until next signing day. Or now, the transfer portal. But that wasn't an option in 2005. I guess it has worked out for Saban, so I'll stop worrying about him now.
  2. Now that's the type of post I need to see. I have been worrying a lot about this matchup. I remember the first Tampa Bay game, and was hyperventilating as I watched TB LBs fly all over the field yesterday. I don't think I realized how bad Brees was yesterday while I was watching. He threw nothing downfield. I only saw two Tampa games this year, the GB game and yesterday. They seem to have one of those "feeding frenzy" defenses where things can snowball quickly.
  3. My brain read Hader, not Harden. Almost jumped out of my chair.
  4. It was as contrived as Strahan's sack of Favre.
  5. Why would anyone red shirt in a year that doesn’t count towards eligibility for anyone? He can play every game this year and still be a freshman next season. I read on Buckyville he has a back issue. Posters saying spinal fracture, done for the year.
  6. This was a popular discussion with my family yesterday- the question was 'are the Packers good enough to beat the Chiefs,' and my response was that I'm not sure the Cheifs make it there. They remind me a lot of the '11 Packers, honestly. Ugly defense, great QB/offensive play, but may have played their best football too early in the season and kind of 'uglied' their way into the playoffs. I think you can make a really good case for 4-5 of the AFC teams to make the Super Bowl, and I think the pathway there is harder than in the NFC. I don't disagree with you, but I looked at the numbers just now. The AFC went 35-28-1 against the NFC this year. That is a pretty good margin, and to have 7 teams with 11 or more wins makes their playoff field look strong. But, three of the four divisions went exactly .500 (24-24) head to head in their intra-conference games. The AFC North got to feed on the NFC East, and three of their teams made the playoffs because of it. BAL, CLE, PIT went 11-1 against the NFC East. I think Pittsburgh has been exposed in the last month, and, without knowing tiebreakers, if either Baltimore or Cleveland plays any other NFC division, they probably don't go 4-0 and one of them probably isn't still alive today.
  7. Unfortunately it's lining up for us to be playing Tampa first. The one team I want no part of. Yes, but it will be in Green Bay. What does Brady know about playing in the cold?
  8. Jonathan Taylor goes over 1000 yards for the season in the first quarter of the Colts game. Nice job, JT!
  9. I have a question. Does it matter to you if Rodgers wins the MVP? I couldn't care less. I understand the talking heads going on and on about who the MVP is, but what does it mean to you as a fan? And I am simply asking a question, not looking to argue or convince anyone.
  10. Is that Keston Hiura's evil twin?
  11. As does the FIRST undefeated NFL team, the '29 Packers. Or...rather they would breathe a sigh of relief, but I don't think any are still breathing. Still...12 wins, 0 losses, 22 points given up all season. Can you get that DC on the phone?
  12. You also can't forget that Rivers has played in a LOT of Pro Bowls. You know, because he never has any other games lined up in January or February.
  13. That is a perfectly cromulent goal.
  14. I just realized this year didn't count for eligibility today and I thin they can stay on without violating scholarship #'s. Even bigger is it applies to all players so the freshmen can actually play 5 years? Seems like a lot of deep benches for the next few seasons if I am understanding it correctly. I think Reuvers and Potter maybe move on to play pro somewhere as they are athletic bigs but not sure that Davison wouldn't come back if allowed. Trice and Ford are in their 6th year out of high school now so if they can make money in Europe or somewhere it's probably time. I think Reuvers' quote was something like: I already have two degrees. Am I supposed to get a third?
  15. Is that why the two different approaches toward this are happening? Why was Denver forced to play and Baltimore not forced?
  16. Had a Kaepernick flashback over this comment. Somewhere, Erik Walden just looked around, bewildered.
  17. Based on the last few posts by others, I'd have to get in line, so I'll pass.
  18. That's great news if she was the best qualified person to choose from... I hope they didn't hire her just because she's a woman. Have you seen her resume? Do you ask that "best-qualified" question every time a new GM is hired?
  19. Savvy Marlins paying her per vowel.
  20. BRef keeps track of a lot of baserunning minutiae, though only so much can be gleaned from the raw totals without additional context... https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2020-baserunning-batting.shtml In the shortened season, we made the fewest outs on the bases (7), with only three coming at home plate, 6th fewest. Sound pretty good, right? Stealing bases, our 58% SB success rate was the worst in MLB. We took an extra base 35% of the time, 5th lowest. We grounded into 53 double plays, thee most. Add it all up & Fangraphs had us dead last on the bases at -17.6 runs, next worst was the Mets at -11.1, that's a pretty massive gap for 60 games. BRef had it a little closer at -13 to -12, but 3rd worst was up at -6 so again a sizable gap. Would not be surprised at all if our acquisitions this offseason are geared towards guys who can contribute positive value on the bases. This Brewer team was slow, especially in the infield. I have said it in game threads and other places, but I think it contributed to a lot of things: holding runners at third, the stats that Sveumrules noted above, and also the number of infield hits that the Brewers gave up.
  21. I'm not slamming him. This guy seems to be: Really poor post here. How is this slamming him? I think he is a good offensive-minded coach and I think it is a mistake for him to let another person call plays for that team right now. I misread. Thought it was funny. My apologies. Tried to edit before it got noticed, but didn't make it.
  22. I wouldn't call it slamming him. It's been, what two or three posters? and like the guy before me, I think it has more to do with Cowboy hate.
  23. Every time I see Healy's name in a post, I think, "who?" and then I remember he batted fifth in the last game of the year. What an awful year.
