  1. Does Tyler Black need an extended chance in the majors? With nearly 1,000 AAA PAs his line is .264/.383/.423. He’s limited to corner outfield and first base: positions where is pop-gun bat with good plate discipline do not different skills than the players currently on the roster, and he was unable to beat those same players out in ST. Although I will admit the Brewers have an unacceptable number of regulars (Frelick, Ortiz, Rengifo, and Hamilton) with sub .300 SLG%. I would imagine if the Brewers believe they have someone who can out slug those players (Black?) while playing comparable defense some of those names above could find themselves in AAA or released (depending on contract status).
  2. From a practical standpoint, that probably doesn’t matter either. Pratt will be out of minor league options by opening day 2029. He then would have five full seasons of service time (‘29-‘33) before the club options. With Pratt already in AAA the chances of him accruing less than a year service time between now and opening day 2029 is slim to zero. Further, if Pratt actually did tool away mostly in the minor leagues until 2029, it probably means the club options have no chance of being exercised anyway
  3. They’re a pitching and defense team that hasn’t pitched or played defense very well the last week. That’s not a weakness it’s a performance issue.
  4. He’s has a guaranteed contract, of course it’s not tolled.
  5. Maybe, but it’s impossible to consistently win without a superstar, and equally hard to find a superstar. On top of thatThe GM probably loses his job in the next year or two, unless he threads the needle perfectly. Finally brand value, marketing etc are all significantly diminished with a trade. I’m not so sure the bucks don’t try to go for broke one more time trade the three first round picks they have, and try to clear salary in order to bring in some players like they’ve done each time. Giannis has been eligible for an extension previously.
  6. There is going to be “fluid” around any injury it’s called inflammation and part of the body’s healing process.
  7. Arnold looks like a genius when the formula is working. He looks like a buffoon with the second tier roster when it isn’t.
  8. They were 16-15 at the end of April last year. All the while with Myers, Payamps, Alexander and Peguero with eras over 6 plus Civale, Woodruff, DL Hall and Ashby all on the IL.
  9. It’s 46 PAs for Williams not 12 (haha), but you’re right it’s early, but by the same token no organization wants the two pieces they got for their most marketable player to lay eggs out of the gate. To your larger point about winning trades. Yes, Sproat + Williams > greater than a comp pick. Where I get off the bus is the assumption that because they’re on some prospect list and the Brewers traded for them that they’re bound to be good players. Time will tell.
  10. What’s the problem, no doubt it’s early, but Williams is under .200 without a XBH in 10 games and Sproat’s lack of command is loosening his grip on a roster spot. So spot on, factual statement: tough start for those two guys.
  11. It seems obvious they are trying to “connect” with the entire state, because that is essentially their market boundaries. But really, rolling out new alternate unis every few seasons is more than anything a tool by MLB and Nike to sell more merch.
  12. Williams with a .147/.293/.147 line in AAA. Tough stat for the players they got for Peralta
  13. Sure but they’re not strictly platoon guys. So while the performance against LHP may improve, somebody currently in the lineup goes to the bench against RHP
  14. I think you’re attaching too much weight to Chourio and Vaughn. Chourio’s OPS+ last year (113) would put him ahead of only Lockridge (111) and Bauers (94) and Ortiz (69) on this year’s squad. And nobody knows if Vaughn truly broke out last year or merely had an extended hot streak. But you did hit on the Brewers biggest weakness, with apologies to Yelich’s fast start, they don’t have that middle of the order hitter with the .500+ slugging percentage protecting the bats in front of him.
  15. You’re right. With a pitcher walking nearly 6 batters per 9innings in AAA (across 141 innings), probably should temper expectations regardless of where his name appears on some prospect list.
  16. Been awhile since a Brewers starter laid an egg in their MLB debut
  17. Call it what you want. The first paragraph of my post was from the rule book. (Slide before reaching the base, into the base, hang on to the base, and spikes below the fielders knees). Contreras did all those things. Murphy didn’t have an issue with it either…. So maybe it’s your fandom bias that says an aggressive play must be dirty because one of your guys got his pants torn BELOW the knee
  18. Contreras went into his slide before getting to the bag, went directly into the bag, didn’t slide through the bag, kept his back foot on the base, and didn’t have his spikes up above the fielder’s knees. The TV guys are right, Contreras has nowhere else to go within the rules, so Hamilton should’ve not been in front of the bag. Aggressive play, but hardly dirty or one that he would get called out for under the rules.
  19. Woah. Dig the optimism but it’s been 9 games. After the dust clears, these trades tend to be a wash as far as which player provided more value. Heck Adames was a 14 WAR player in his time with the Brewers and that was said to be such a win for the Brewers yet Rasmussen is at 11.6 WAR for the Rays and isn’t a free agent until 2028.
  20. A UCL sprain is a tear of the ligament. A 2nd opinion is likely on severity of tear/treatment options. Too bad for Koenig. If he can’t rehab it, he’ll be 34 and would’ve gone through arbitration before he pitches again.
  21. DL Hall, followed by Johnny Wholestaff
