  1. They were mediocre in the first half. Then they had a hot streak. Now they are mediocre again (if not worse). I don't think what they are doing is super surprising.
  2. The Hideo Nomo experience!
  3. I think Lauer, given his younger age and the fact he's a lefty, actually has a higher upside than Houser. Houser might have slightly better raw stuff, but it's pretty close I'd say.
  4. The Brewers are not going to hand a guaranteed long-term deal to a middle reliever who just had TJ surgery. Not everyone is an extension candidate, clancy.
  5. I think it's a mix of somewhat spotty past consistency along with a lack of eye-popping stuff. Houser typically sits in the mid 90s (93-95) with his fastball, although he has dialed it up to 97 as a reliever in the past. He doesn't have the potentially triple-digit arm that Burnes or Woodruff bring, though. Lauer typically sits in the low 90s, although he can ramp it up to 95 on occasion. Solid, especially for a lefty starter, but not extraordinary.
  6. Well, I did include "potentially" LOL. I am realist enough to know that sometimes guys just have good outings here and there. And it isn't like Houser and Lauer have come out of nowhere. Both had somewhat established track records coming into 2021. Both came off pretty terrible COVID 2020 seasons as well. Both may possibly regress. But heck, there have been plenty of years where I'd be more than happy to say that Houser or Lauer was this team's #1 guy. Yeah, that doesn't mean that they are legit #1 MLB starters, but when you have been cheering for this team, and its ramshackle starting rotations as long as I have, you take what you can get.
  7. 2.01 era over eric lauer's last 11 games. what a turnaround for this guy. The way the guys with the press clippings have had a bump or two in the road lately, we need to be setting up Lauer to max out his playoff starts. Only half blue. I think it's time that we start to consider that this team quite possibly has 5 (!!!) potentially top end starters, with a young gun in Ashby waiting in the wings.
  8. Prior to the draft, Wiemer was heralded as a typical high power, low average corner outfield bat. Was he underestimated? Have the changes the Brewers made to his stance and approach at the plate put him on the path toward being a future MLB stud? Reviews cerrtainly look good so far. That 2020 COVID draft is looking pretty solid so far.
  9. Reds just beat the Cubs 4-3, so the Brewers can only subtract one off the Magic Number tonight. Still just a matter of time at this point, but it would be nice to see them put the division to bed in a week or so.
  10. Gotta love where this rotation is for the next few years with Woodruff, Burnes, Peralta, Houser, Lauer, Ashby and Small. Seven deep in high-end, inexpensive arms. This is a whole new experience as a Brewer fan. It sure is nice not having to continue reading the posts about the Brewers and Stearns "definitely" losing that deal with the Padres. Total lesson in not making quick, broad assumptions, especially on a trade involving young MLB players.
  11. The first baseman we have is doing just fine He won't be back. There is zero reason he wouldn't be. The only way I see Tellez not being back next year is if he's used as part of a package for a more established 1B. Otherwise it's his spot to lose right now.
  12. They've played a bunch of series over the last month that they should have won. They haven't. Yes, on paper they have a cake schedule. But they kinda suck too, so none of those series are going to be easy for them. They are a heck of a lot easier than they’ve been playing. Now maybe the Padres will play up,to,their talent and beat a lot,of,good, teams. But I think the reds might just get this by default Phillies are playing better too so they could catch them too Lost to the artist formerly known as the Cubs today. The Reds are toast. They suck.
  13. Thank you to the Reds for continuing to pee down their leg ...
  14. Agreed. Woody and Burnes are likely to steal votes from each other as well. It would very much surprise me if Buehler isn't the winner going away, regardless of if he gets the baby seal treatment the rest of the season. Simply because "OMG Dodgers!!!"
  15. The story doesn't go into anymore detail. Just that Wong may go on another list "if needed". Fair enough. Respect the man and his family's privacy. Like I said, I hope that all is well with their new baby. Right. This is certainly a time when the Brewers could use Wong, especially with Adames out. But there are things that obviously take precedence, and this is certainly one of those situations. Plus Jace is doing a fine job as a "poor man's" version of Kolten.

  18. Unfortunately the 4th outcome was that he turned out to be a loser. Russell Branyan Arrested For Allegedly Breaking Into Ex-Wife's House, Stealing Stuff, Turning Down The Thermostat And then 5 years later… Former MLB player arrested for stalking in Williamson County I know his life has been a mess since his career ended. He was fun for a while while he played, though.
  19. Smiling ear to ear Brilliant! Legitimate goosebumps here. Baseball is so awesome! I really wonder how close Vogelbach actually was to being DFA'd over the last month? Throwing him back in AAA for "rehab" did seem a bit shenaniganny. Bravo to the Brewers' front office for finding a way to hang onto him though.
  20. In all honesty, it's been over for a while. The Reds needed to be almost flawless over the last month, but instead they've been slowly pissing down their leg.
  21. Gonna have to find a link to Uecker's call of that one once it's available.
