  1. Also true. He's behind 92 mph meatballs. I don't know if I've ever seen a case of a guy who came up looking so natural, only to completely and inexplicably lose it.
  2. He is so bad that I'm not sure he is going to be in the league in 2 years. I'm very patient usually, but he looks like he can't play the game. Yeah it's really depressing. This was our best homegrown hitting prospect since....Braun, really, and it looks like he might totally flame out. Obviously it's not over yet and maybe he makes an adjustment and gets it all figured out but he is beyond overmatched at the moment. After he came up in '19 his bat looked so good. I thought the sky was the limit and now this. Because he looks like a completely different player than he did in 2019. Now he goes to the plate trying to hit an 8-run homer every time up. He's got a severe uppercut swing, and chases everything. I'm not sure what is going on in his head, or who he's been listening to, but it's wrong.
  3. My oldest turns 12 in May, and he's played baseball and football since he was 5. Last fall he did cross country for the first time, and really enjoyed it. He's also going to do middle school track this spring (doubling up with baseball). The best suggestion I have is to not specialize in one one sport. I live in big hockey country in northern Wisconsin, and so many of the kids my son's age (and younger) play hockey year-round. Many more play soccer year-round. I never understood the concept of specializing, unless your goal is to burn your kid out on the sport by the time they reach middle school. Perhaps there are a few kids out there who truly love their chosen sport, but for the most part, there is likely a 99.99999% chance that your kid is not going pro in that sport, so let them diversify, and let them be a kid!
  4. He's this year's David Phelps "kinda ok guy we can hopefully squeeze some decent outings out of before the rest of the league catches up and he gets shelled" guy.
  5. Weren't we all told repeatedly, though, that Avi was a huge waste of money and is, in fact, terrible? Nice to see him hitting a few on the screws this year.
  6. I wanted the Brewers to work out a trade for Moran in the worst way this past offseason. I was met by multiple claims of "Why? He sucks!" This is why. The same thing was said about Jeff Suppan. Touche. I get it. You can't simply acquire guys who wear your team out, but suck against everyone else. I've always liked Moran, though. He's a guy who I wouldn't be surprised continues to get better, kind of like a poor man's left-handed-hitting Justin Turner.

  8. So in your mind, you have no concerns about his health? I realize your thing is to refute every post with stats and such, but you never really take a stand on anything other than devil's advocate. So my question to you is as I stated above, do you have concerns with Yelich's health and contract moving forward? Is it possible to have concern, and also hope/not think it's going to be a major concern? It would seem that by reading this thread that a few posters have already decided that Yelich is suddenly injury-prone, will be lucky to play 100 games/season the rest of his Brewers career, and his contract is going to be an enormous albatross for the team moving forward. I think that is the thought process that sveumrules is attempting to refute. I'm not going to lie and say those thoughts haven't crossed my mind as well, but I sure as heck aren't ready to will them into reality yet. Because those thoughts are extremely depressing.
  9. it's all about maximizing the pool of players available to you. the three guys you suggested all have met the requisite stay of 10 days on optional assignment, and are eligible to be recalled at any time. yardley had yet to meet the requisite 10 days, but was eligible for recall when a corresponding move was placement on the injured list. One would think ... I dunno ... that at some point it would be about putting the best players on the field. I mean, it isn't like Yardley didn't deserve his demotion. Maybe that's just me, though.
  10. Because it sometimes seems like this team hates us.
  11. Wonder who gets the call? Are they going to activate Fisher of Notttingham off the IL? Call up Ray? Bring up a pitcher?
  12. Awesome roster efficiency, Brewers. Also, Craig Counsell sure does love himself some Jace Peterson. I figured Robertson would be getting much more playing time with Wong out, but seems that Peterson is the #1 option there.
  13. Lucas Erceg is actually listed as a available pitcher. It appears he is attempting to make it as a two-way player. He was a guy who hit 95+ as a pitcher at Menlo College, and was being looked at as a pitcher by some teams, so this wouldn't be completely out of the blue.
  14. Ironic then that Knebel got smacked around pretty good last night in a game that the Dodgers were winning handily until he came in in the 8th. A 2 run lead is winning handily? He gave up 3 hits, 1 was 88 mph exit velocity and another was 71. Hardly getting smacked around pretty good. It appears he lost his command midway through the inning. Managed to get Campusano to chase, but didn't have much of a chance against Caratini before getting lifted. It was very similar to many of the outings he had for the Brewers last year. Flashes of brilliance where he looked like the old Knebel, but plenty of inconsistency too.

  16. No Yelich in tonight's lineup. Why again haven't they put him on the IL?
  17. Really? Man, my memory is shot. I swear I cut back on booze about 6 weeks into the pandemic Of course, 6 weeks into the pandemic feels like last June so maybe I shouldn't feel so bad. I totally get it. I actually had to look it up to make sure it was held at the end of April like in past year. The months of March and April seemed to take about 6 months last year.
  18. He was up yesterday, and was a defensive replacement late in the game.
  19. It probably isn't a 0% chance that Perez starts in Biloxi, but I would think its close. He's only 17, and the Brewers are not a team known for rushing prospects to that magnitude. I think this is more a case of the Brewers wanting to challenge him with better pitching. I'd still imagine he starts with Wisconsin, or even in Arizona. That doesn't mean that he won't see Biloxi by the end of the season, though. And what an accomplishment that would be!
  20. The guy has played his whole career facing predominantly AL East pitching. I think it stands to reason that there will be an adjustment period as he gets used to a whole new league and set of pitchers. Is there any truth to this? Just seems like a kinda lazy explanation to a players struggles. There is such a huge variance of pitchers you face every year. I looked through his splits the last few years and he had lots of success against some interleague teams and teams not in his division. Seems like something that would be hard to quantify and prove. Maybe true for some players struggles, but I don't think it is a good blanket statement to make. Lazy? Maybe. But it is also one that is constantly used when a player goes AL to NL, or vice versa. But probably the more accurate opinion is that Bradley is and always has been a streaky hitter, and he's in a bit of a slump after signing late and an abbreviated Spring Training.
  21. Certainly not a bad problem to have. But as a longtime Brewer fan, this concept is nearly impossible to comprehend. It might as well be in Greek to me.
