  1. Wait, I thought he was hologram technology?
  2. A fun article about "what would have been" but you had to throw in your never ending quest to play Braun at 3B. Braun was historically bad at 3B in his rookie season. HISTORICALLY! And while Molitor wasn't terrible at 3B, he wasn't exactly Brooks Robinson there, either. What in the world would Molitor have been able to do to even make Braun passable there?
  3. Depending on 3-4 rookies to come in an make a meaningful contribution offensively to a playoff contender is a huge risk that I'm glad the team has decided to mitigate. Having Winker on the team means that they have the luxury of not having to throw all of them to the fire at the same time.
  4. It's a total hypothetical to really even think that there was a player-for-prospect deal out there for Wong. It was out there that the M's had soured on Winker and were looking to move him, and the Brewers had an obvious hole at DH. We also know how that front office loves left-handed power with the short porch in right at AmFam Field. Lets not forget, too, that Abraham Toro just turned 26, and was once quite a well-regarded power-hitting infield prospect. Should he find that stroke as a Brewer, he could very well join that pipeline.
  5. I don't. Yelich, Taylor and Mitchell especially have a storied injury history. Having offensive depth theoretically keeps the team from having to rely on the Billy McKinneys of the world to provide runs. What good are a couple 17-year-old lottery ticket types gonna do for a team that wants to contend this year? If they were rebuilding? Sure. Not now.
  6. Muncy is pretty overpaid for what he gives you. He was good in 2021, but pretty terrible in 2020 and last year. He's also going to be 32 this year, so that is also a factor. Not sure what he provides that a younger Brian Anderson doesn't at a fraction of the cost.
  7. I was a Suter fan too, and was a bit sad to see him go. But I also understand why logistically they went that route. Giving that move an F grade kills the credibility of this article for me. I get that this is a fan site and there is going to be some editorialization, but that's overkill.
  8. It's ok. "Shoulder fatigue" has never been a harbinger of negative things to come.
  9. The window is now. While it is important to keep one eye on the future, this team is ready to win now. Therefore they need to make moves to bolster the roster for 2023. Pinning your hopes on four rookies getting substantial MLB playing time on a playoff contending team is not a recipe for success. They know that, which is why they decided to get proven MLB talent back for Wong, rather than restock with low-level minor leaguers.
  10. I think this will be the case, at least to start the year, unless they are planning on giving Winker more time in the OF than anyone is expecting.
  11. I expect it to be Mitchell, and based on how he looked last year, it probably should be Mitchell. Frelick will get his chance. Doubt it is as soon as opening day, though.
  12. I've noticed today that the icons are staying highlighted, even when I click through and read all the new posts and it indicates that there are no new posts to read. The only way I get them to gray out is to hit the "mark forum as read" button.
  13. I think an argument could be made for reversing Sheets and Woodruff, but otherwise it's hard to find much fault here. Probably an oversight, but Pete Vuckovich deserves at least an honorable mention, if not that #5 spot.
  14. Doesn't matter. He is referring to the trade itself, and the immediate payoff. Long term is irrelevant.
  15. Tom Brady looked washed this season. He is very clearly done. While not up to his typical standard of excellence, Rodgers still looked capable of getting it done. And the decline he did show can be clearly explained away in the fact that he was working with young, inconsistent receivers, and playing with a busted thumb for a good portion of the year. If Brady's retirement does anything, it takes away a potential target from those contending teams who will be looking for a veteran QB this offseason. That theoretically makes Rodgers' value greater.
  16. Spring Training CANNOT come soon enough LOL
  17. At this point I don't think it's really about the money. They can figure out some cap gymnastics that would enable them to bring him back, and probably even go out and acquire a weapon for him. At this point, though, I think it's more about the very limited shelf life he has left, and the fact that they have a talented young QB that they are basically backed into a corner with as far as deciding to move forward. It's almost exactly like Brady's last few years played out in New England. Garoppolo was drafted to be the heir apparent, but Brady continued performing at a high level way past when NFL QBs typically do, and instead of turning the keys over to Jimmy G and dealing Brady for what likely would have been a king's ransom, the Pats chose to jettison Garoppolo for what they could. And as we saw, Brady only lasted another season or two before moving on, leaving the Pats with a rebuild and a QB carousel. I get the feeling the Packers don't want to repeat that.
  18. What moves, given the free agent contracts that were signed this offseason, would you have advocated the Brewers make?
  19. The Jets were already likely the best fit for AR. Hackett going there just greases the skids even more. Which probably means it won't happen.
  20. I think it was Einstein who said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. This team's economic standing is what it is. They are always going to be a team that will maximize $/win. I think expecting them to change course at this point is probably a foolish endeavor. Of course, you can try to hold the team accountable, but that probably means not spending your money on following the team any longer. And you're here posting, so you obviously haven't gotten to that point yet. The idea of contending for a World Series is always going to be a "pie in the sky" goal for the Brewers. That's just reality.

  22. I don't disagree with any of this. I think Adrian Houser can and likely will be an important member of this team's pitching staff. That was more an answer to SF70's assertion that trading him would be more valuable than keeping him as a 7th starter. It's nice to have the depth to even consider that scenario. I doubt the Brewers are, though.
  23. Certainly nice to have so many decent or potentially high-upside options available that it makes a guy like Houser expendable. I'm old enough to remember a time when this team would have penciled a pitcher like Houser into at least the #2 spot in their rotation, and been happy with it.
