  1. But every time I'm seeing Arcia's name in a box score, it's a flashback to the 1980s, where I see Jim Gantner at second base EVERY GOSH-DARN DAY - when the Crew should have been getting more offense from Riles or someone else. Juan Castillo didn't hit much better, but added some steals, and Mike Felder played some second base. But it was Gantner. EVERY DAY. I just worry it's costing the team wins. Who would you put at SS? With Dubon down, there is no solid defensive options that are likely to provide anything better than what Arcia does. Perez is a major step down defensively, and not much if anything of an offensive upgrade. Orf isn't a SS. Saladino is supposed to be able to pick it at SS, but he'd never been much with the stick.
  2. The Chocolate Cactus Bread Closers *damn you Craig Coshun and Pizza Ranch!!!
  3. Reading some of the responses in this thread brings this quote to mind: "Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn." - Alfred Pennyworth
  4. Given the revolving door of middle infielders at the ML level, I would say there's a solid chance Moore sees Milwaukee before too long, as long as he continues to rake. And given he's going to Colorado Springs, that seems likely.
  5. Given how Peralta has been rocked in Colorado Springs this year, I HIGHLY doubt the team is going to have him make his Major League debut at Coors.
  6. None of the team's prospects are untradable. That said, I'd like to see a good 2B controllable for several seasons come back in the return in any Hiura deal. May be possible on a deal with a rebuilding team looking to shed salary.
  7. Are we seriously making the determination based on a month and a half of 2018 games, and not even taking Arcia's solid 2017 numbers into account?
  8. This. 100% this. No MLB team operates this way. No team ever will. Because you still gotta put butts in seats.
  9. Perhaps an extreme comparison, just saying there's a reason Villar hasn't appeared at SS since 2016.
  10. It's why you should trade guys like that after their hot/career year. Just like they did with Gomez. Anderson, Broxton, Villar, Pina, Knebel, etc. Especially while rebuilding. You may get burned by one of them for trading them away, but for the most part it will be the right decision. That very well may have been the original plan. Winning 86 last year meant those plans changed.
  11. And just when we think Domingo might be starting to come around, 0-3 with 2 Ks and a lazy grounder to 2nd.
  12. I had so much hope for Brett Phillips. He is so young and talented. But he looks so overmatched at the ML level. The approach most of these hitters take is horrid. It's like the young guys become completely different hitters after leaving Colorado Springs, and vets forget everything they've done playing for other organizations. "We're Brewers! Swing for the fences or bust!"
  13. This offense is straight up putrid right now. I predict Darnell Coles is gone within the week. Someone is going to have to fall on the sword to light a fire under these guys, and it is more than likely going to be Coles.
  14. The Junior Guerra experience may not be long for this world. Hasn't looked great his last few times out. Location hasn't been there.
  15. I think there are just so many moving parts right now that Stearns probably doesn't want to put Orf on the 40 man roster, and then something else happens. As it is, Dubon is going to take up a spot on the 40 man, as they won't put him on the 60 day DL list. Keep hitting Orf, and by the end of the month the picture will have cleared up. I think you mean Franklin here. But that brings up a good point. Dubon is on the 40-man, and will likely be placed on the 60-day DL, opening up a 40-man spot for someone.
  16. They are starting to run into a roster crunch situation on the 40-man, which is why I believe Saladino got the call over Orf. With Franklin hurt, they can't DFA him, and because his injury wasn't extensive, they can't 60-day DL him. They are forced to carry him on the 40-man. I suppose they could have just DFA'd Saladino or Sogard, but the roster maneuvering became much more difficult with Franklin's injury.
  17. Villar can play SS nearly the same way Braun "can" play 3B
  18. Surgical repairs are not 100% on recovery. Some people are never able to come all the way back to pre-injury/ pre-surgery form. If Hiura & the Brewers EXHAUST all other treatment options, then yes, its time for getting the surgery. Otherwise, surgery should be the last resort.. Hiura didn't play in the field hardly at all his last two years of college because of the same reason. I'm not sure how much more could possibly be exhausted. It's just an odd situation to have such an advanced bat that looks to be held back by an inability to play defense. It isn't even that he's a bad defender. It's that he physically cannot do it.
