  1. As did Guerra, Peralta and Diplan, if you're looking at guys on the 40-man. I imagine Williams will be up for sure, and maybe Hoover as well, even though that would force a tough active roster decision.
  2. Well, if you are looking for a positive, Guerra pitched a gem at Colorado Springs, and young Freddy Peralta has a 1-hitter through 5 innings in the nightcap.
  3. Amen. Today sucks, but there is still 155 of these things to go. Thanks for reminding me of that.
  4. It was such an odd offseason. After going after OFers we really didn’t need, the team raised the white flag after January 25th. I’m sure there was a bigger set of moves at some point? I have absolutely no doubt you are right. I think at least one big move fell though, if not two. There was just too much smoke for there not to be fire. But in the end, it was just Stearns saying they were going with what they had, in the hope that Derek's Johnson's magical fairy dust would turn these guys into an above average staff. Granted it is early, and things can change, but there hasn't been much to make me think that plan will work.
  5. Well, I'm glad I brought joy to someone tonight. We may need it for a little while. Thank the heavens Braun ate the clutch gummy to start the year or we would be counting down the days til Packer football. I think you managed to cram about six controversial threads over the last week into that one sentence. That is much appreciated.
  6. I don't know ... can you be a regression candidate after missing basically a whole season? I'm sure someone here will make a case for that next February.
  7. I would surely hope that Knebel knew he'd be getting into this game regardless of the situation. If I remember right, if he didn't get regular work last year, his breaking stuff lost its bite, and he got smacked around more. I don't have much doubt that him pitching tonight was the plan. It's just a horrible freak thing ... or perhaps his hammy still wasn't completely healed from slipping off that wet mound a few weeks ago in Arizona.
  8. Wow. No one here deserves to be called a Chicken Little. Regardless of how pessimistic or optimistic you are.
  9. Why are they showing a Kris Bryant lovefest commercial on Fox Sports Wisconsin to advertise the FS1 game? Seriously. I think baseball is trying to make me break things tonight.
  10. While that sucks big time, if there is one area of this team where an injury like that could be absorbed, it was in the back end of the pen. They finally have a bunch of hard-throwing horses at both the ML level and in AAA that will hopefully be able to pick up the slack
  11. OK, that's enough. They were just shut out in back-to-back games by the Cards and Cubs, and lost their All-Star closer. Be quiet. And? The Dodgers were shut out in back to back games and have Jansen playing like crap. The point is the same. It's two games, in the FIRST week of the season. Are we really going to live and die on EVERY pitch? It's just so damn tiring with the negative posts. LOL, the game threads may not be the place for you then. I get that the negatives posts are tiring, but in the last 27 hours at least, they have been completely warranted. Also, it isn't like these games count any less than those in September.
  12. Talk about a complete opposite extreme from Tuesday night. Baseball is such a wonderful terrible game.
  13. I'm guessing we see both Taylor Williams and JJ Hoover in the pen by the start of tomorrow's game.
  14. OK, that's enough. They were just shut out in back-to-back games by the Cards and Cubs, and lost their All-Star closer. Be quiet.
  15. Pick up K-Rod to flip at the deadline. Heck, maybe Jeffress will pitch lights-out, and he can be flipped with Pina for a great CF prospect, top starting pitching prospect and another solid OF prospect. (not blue because only half joking)
  16. These guys will eventually hit, and we'll have those 10-8 games that were predicted in Spring Training.
  17. Agreed! I just picked up Hader in my fantasy baseball league. Really don't think Hader will be closing. I think Barnes is your best bet with Jeffress having an outside shot. Williams could eventually get the role but not this early. Or maybe it'll be a straight committee. I really don't know. But I'd be pretty surprised if they just straight make Hader the closer. I'm about 90% sure it will be Jeffress, just because he has done it successfully before. BA just mentioned Albers, but he's very valuable as a set-up guy, as is Hader. They did sign Jim Henderson. And K-Rod is still out there.
  18. Threw a strike and collapsed in a heap on the mound holding his lower left hamstring. Trainers basically had to carry him off. Maybe he was just tired.
  19. Looked like hamstring to me. I agree, though. This'll be a long one. Which begs the question now ... who takes over? Barnes? Jeffress? Hader? Smart money would have to be on Jeffress I imagine.
  20. Well, for those of you that wanted to see Aguilar play 3B ... (I'm guessing that is no one)
  21. Well his 0/8 BB/K ratio so far isn't looking too pretty Zebras don't change their stripes. That .304 average is solid, though. He's put together some nice at-bats that makes it at least look like he might be on the right track.
