  1. I love that the guy the Cards just gave a ton of money for, and gave up a high pick, couldn't find anything. I'm sick of every player move they do working out for them. It wouldn't bug me at all if this one didn't.
  2. Good at bat for Domingo. I thought for sure he was going to wave at that.
  3. Looked like he slipped or stumbled rounding the base. If he throws on the brakes, people are mad. If he goes for it and gets thrown out, people are mad at him and Sedar. Can't win I guess.
  4. Boy would I love to see the Brewers hang a crooked number on Mr. Big Contract right now.
  5. Well, Albers did one heck of a job to escape that only giving up one.
  6. Cain got hurt cuz Martinez doesn't know how to stretch at first. Nah I mean, why did Suter of anybody pinch run? That short of a bench? Suter is a good baserunner. Why waste one of the last guys on the bench should this thing have to go to extras?
  7. Cain hit that bag pretty hard. On a cold night, that can hurt. Hopefully he'll be fine.
  8. Other than over the weekend when the defense did him no favors, Barnes has been a stud. Gotta like that!
  9. Wow, loving the breaking stuff from Hader. A 30-pitch outing as well. I almost wonder if they have told him to take a little off his FB and work on his breaking stuff with a probably move to the rotation in the future?
  10. Surprised he jumped Keon I'm not. Keon can only play CF apparently, and Cain has been durable. Phillips is great defensively anywhere out there.
  11. Heck, he'd fit right in!
  12. Phillips has cut down on the Ks and increased his OPB, which is exactly what he was asked to do. He is also a ++ defender at all three OF spots, whereas it seems that Broxton is confined to CF. Hopefully we'll eventually get to see the dream defensive OF of Yelich/Cain/Phillips when Yelich heals up.
  13. Well, if you look at it that way, not only are the Brewers picking up a top starter mid-season (Nelson), they are grabbing a top-flight closer (Knebel) as well. That's a fun way of looking at it. If the current staff can keep the team afloat, that is a lot of nice reinforcements.
  14. He was slated to start at AA, and has been stretched out. That is an interesting theory. Maybe Suter to the pen as the long man, and Houser starting?
  15. The problem is that the team's front office has left Counsell with a 25-man roster that doesn't make a lot of sense, so he's trying to juggle and get guys in. There are too many everyday player-types, and not enough bench guys. That's what happens when you acquire two All-Star caliber everyday OFers, and do nothing to alleviate the existing above-average OF depth you already had. Hopefully things will get figured out eventually, but right now this roster screams the idea of a plan that was only half executed.
  16. Key injuries suck, but they do often create opportunities for other players to step up and become stars. I'm not worried about the 9th inning at all. The ML squad and upper minors are flush with heat-throwing arms. I think by this time next year, we'll be fondly looking back on the Summer of Taylor Williams.
  17. By BP do you mean bullpen or batting practice pitcher? His command just hasn't been there so far. I think at the very least Suter ends up being a solid multi-inning reliever. Lefties that throw strikes last forever. He'd probably be a solid LOOGY as well.
  18. High leverage situations are high leverage situations, though, whether they are in the 6th or 7th inning, or the 9th. That idea, and the fact that, despite his lack of experience, Williams wasn't sent down until the very last moments of Spring Training, make me think that he'll be up soon, if not today. I think the Brewers' pen is still strong, even without Knebel, but that nasty high-90s stuff from Williams would make it even better. If the team can't throw gas with their starters, at least they will be able to out of the pen. Albers, Jeffress and even Drake dial it up into the mid-90s, while Hader and Barnes hit the upper 90s. Jennings is lower 90s, but with movement and deception. None of them are consistently close to triple-digits like Williams was showing in spring, though.
  19. Smart money would be on Jeffress assuming the closer's role, as not only is he experienced in that area, it would cause the least amount of shake-ups in the back end of the pen. Hoover or Williams would easily be able to jump up and assume Jeremy's 6th-7th inning role. With Woodruff moving to the rotation starting today, though, I imagine they were probably planning on bringing a reliever up today or this weekend anyway. It wouldn't surprise me to see both Hoover and Williams in Milwaukee tonight. The question is, then, who gets cut to create the extra space on the 25-man?
