  1. Hard to blame you. Watching this team get shut out by the Cubs' worst starter (by a wide margin) is pretty disgusting to watch. Come on boys, three more ups to turn this thing around. Cubs worst starter? hmmmm If that were true, and I don't believe it is, how sad is it that he is better than anything the Brewers are trotting out on a nightly basis? Ugh, this rotation is going to kill us and I honestly see no end in sight. He's old, put up a 4.3 ERA last year, and was horrible in his first start this year. I'd take Darvish, Quintana and Hendricks easily over Lester, and Chatwood is probably a wash. And you are right, Lester would probably be the surefire #2 on the Brewers' staff.
  2. Santana is young, uber athletic and has a cannon for an arm. There is really absolutely no reason from him to be as bad in the outfield as he is. In theory, he is young enough that he can still improve out there. Hopefully he took a look at how much of hack he was out there last year over the offseason, and worked on some things.
  3. Seemed like he was doing it last week. Maybe Villar had a talking with him, "son, how can you hit a HR if you don't take a huge swing on every pitch? Look at me, I once hit 19 HR is a season, if I only would have swung harder at every pitch I would have probably hit 20" Villar is one of the few that have actually had a decent approach the last few games.
  4. Aguilar gets a hit ... back-to-back-to-back Ks by Perez, Arcia, and bandy, who must think they are power hitters. It doesn't seem to matter who is in the line-up for this team, or the year, but as soon as they pull on that blue Brewer jersey, they swing it like they are Sammy Sosa. All of them. Every year. And that just sucks. I swear, if Cain and Yelich start hacking away, I'm going to question whether there is something in the water at Miller Park.

  6. The offense has had a couple bad games, the starting pitching has had one good game. Save for the 9th inning rally in game 2 against the Padres, offense was bad 2 out of 3 games. Not good against the Cards. This offense is going to need to score more than 4 runs a game for this team to contend.
  7. Suter could be pitching a 1-run gem right now, and it still wouldn't matter, because our vaunted offense can't get anything off horrible, over-the-hill Jon Lester. The starting pitching has been disappointing, but personally, the lack of consistent, sustained offense, given the moves this team made in the offseason, has been a bigger disappointment. Still too many guys swinging for the fences and rally-killing strikeouts. Hopefully the solid approaches brought by Yelich and Cain will eventually rub off on the rest of these guys, but so far, not so good.
  8. Could we see Aguilar at 1B tonight with Braun likely starting in LF? Hopefully there is an update on the severity of Yelich's injury soon.
  9. On the surface, yes it is, as Braun can simply be plugged into full time LF duty for however long Yelich is out. If you are looking for an "I told you so" moment, though, an injury to the team's previously highly durable 26-year-old All-Star-level LF hardly warrants that, in my opinion.
  10. I have absolutely no doubt that there will be good starters available. The Brewers haven't given any indication that they would ever go the "rental" route by picking up a guy in the final year of a deal, though, so to grab a TOR-type with multiple years of control, they are going to have to break the bank prospect-wise (Huira, Burnes, Lutz ... those types). That wouldn't bother me, but I know it would cause a high level of stress in a lot of fans.
  11. There's a post on the previous page that he tried to avoid it with the other treatment so I'd assume he has or had the injury required for TJ? The UCL wasn't completely torn, and it healed. He now likely just has elbow inflammation, and there's no surgical remedy for that. He just needs rest, and to build arm strength. I hope you are right. History, and the Brewers' luck with prospects, has me more on the pessimistic side of the equation, though.
  12. No heroics tonight. I'm not a fan of the "Thames leading off" lineup. I mean, I sort of understood it last year because they really had few options, but now, when you have Yelich and Cain as superior lead-off guys, it just looks cute and stupid.
  13. Heck of an at-bat from Villar. They are making a 6-0 game about as interesting as they can.
  14. Man watching Martinez walk off after dominating the Brewers makes me jealous. Jealous that the Brewers haven't for the life of them been able to develop high-end starting pitching on a consistent basis. The Cardinals have done that in spades over the years, and that is why they are a successful team.
  15. Pulled for Perez. No real info given. McCalvy and Haudricourt seem to think it is no big deal, and likely getting Perez work out there, though.
  16. Even the most optimistic fan can realize that the performance of the starting rotation so far will not lead to sustained success. Will Anderson and Davies get better? Yeah, more than likely. But will it be enough if guys like Chacin and Suter can't even perform at replacement level?
  17. The way the starting rotation is looking, I'm doubting they will be close enough to contention for it to matter. I admit I was optimistic that they would be able to cobble together a solid rotation, but my fears are totally being realized. If that's the case, it's a real shame we couldn't put together a deal with all the talent we have. We don't need an ace (Jimmy Nelson is good enough, when he gets back), we need a couple of three starters that can post a 3.50-4.00 ERA and keep us in the mix to round out the rotation. Our offense can handle the rest. Preaching to the choir, my man.

  19. I think your timeline is very optimistic. I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree. I say if the kid's elbow is broke, get it fixed. There is no use prolonging it. Do it now, and he's playing 2B full time in 2019 and looking at possible 2019 MLB time. Wait, and you won't see him at Miller Park till at least 2020-21.
  20. You aren't going to get any argument from me here. Broxton and Santana are both in the same boat = caught in positional logjams, as players whose profiles indicate they are the types the team is trying to get away from. If it were up to me, they would trade Broxton, Santana and Aguilar. But for whatever reason, deals haven't been made yet. With Broxton is doesn't bother me as much, as he isn't currently affecting the ML squad. Having Santana and Aguilar on the ML roster, though, screws with depth and creates playing time issues that have already cropped up a little, but will only get more pronounced if the situation isn't sorted out. I'm sure they will eventually have injuries or make player moves to rectify the problem, but that doesn't stop me from being frustrated with the roster's current make-up.
  21. You are right about me not liking it, but expecting me to just accept it as "the way it is" is off base, in my opinion. As fans we have every right to question and even criticize the decisions the front office makes, or in this case, doesn't make. But to call out speculation with more speculation is planting you firmly on the living room couch of a glass house.
