    This offseason is going to be huge for the lab. Arizona / Carolina is going to be nuts to start the season.

    The craziest thing is that we are ranked #1 without even factoring in any of the 17 high school pitchers taken in the last three years. About 1/3 of our draft classes are penny stocks. If any of those pan out,… Oh boy.

    I think that Appleton 1-4 is going to be the exact order of our top prospect lists very soon.

    Letson is the tip of the spear of our entire draft philosophy. In my eyes, his success means more than anyone else’s. Him and Luke Adams are the original Ginger kids.

    Woody missed his big payday. He needs to take as much as he can get. Guy deserves it.

    #1 ranked system at BA (with Miz), #4 on MLB (without Miz). Still feels like we are underrated with all the teenage talent we have stockpiled that doesn’t even crack our top 30.

    Tortoise and the haire. Payne, Renz and Dubanewicz are all crazy young (Payne annd Renz are still 18) and holding their own in A-Ball. For comparison’s sake, Yesavage was 491 and Benge was unrated in BA’s 2021 Top 500 as high schoolers. We are banking on our “freshmen” turning into those first rounders.

    You only have to go back like 2 years to see Durbin, Lockridge, Seigler, and Perkins in a Yankees jersey.

    The Brewers actually owning the team, and the stadium, opens up some cool possibilities. Is it going to basically be a sister location to the Arizona complex? Would be cool to have an actual training center, dining, and housing on the lot. DSL Academy -> ACL Complex -> A-Ball Complex would be a huge leg up on the competition (competition being other MLB teams AND college recruiting). Heck, throw us dorks a bone and get some statcast going.

    I know this years DSL group is a bit of a disappointment compared to last year, but the pitching seems miles better.

    Pena with a laser right to the LF. Didn’t even move. Made hit a foul that was caught over the shoulder by the 3B who then tripped over the bullpen mounds and flipped the ball behind his back into LF. Ruled a catch somehow.

    Looking ahead to next year’s (seemingly loaded) draft… Let’s say Woodruff opts out of his contract, and we then give him a qualifying offer and he signs elsewhere. We get a pick, right?

    I know they’ve said that Pena needs someone pushing him and that he and Made are a package deal. Pena deserves the promotion, and maybe Made is tagging along.

    That was beautiful. Dinges, Adamczewski, and Fischer in Appleton, please. Get Handelfrey in Carolina with Made and Pena.

    Eh, I don’t think they need to. Made just makes me mad 60% of the time I watch him.

    We also have the youngest team in almost every league, with Carolina on average being around 3-4 years younger than their opponents on any given night. Carolina also has an entirely new rotation in the last month without even accounting for this years draft.

    After the draft Quintana is maybe our 5th best 18 year old shortstop? I do worry about the PTBNL a little more now though. Please not my dear sweet Handelfrey.

    Wonder if the PTBNL / cash changes based on his availability. Sounds like he’s got a forearm IL stint.

    DeVries in the Mason Miller deal is equal to Made. BA has the other prospects in the deal as the Padres 7th, 14, and 16th ranked prospects. I doubt they’d make our top 30. Real steep drop off in that system, combined with an insane amount of depth in ours. Probably a good rule of thumb with those 10-20 ranked prospects in other systems is to drop them like 10 spots in ours.

    So passive that they made two trades earlier in the year that completely changed their season. If we traded for Priester and Vaughn today, everyone would be calling for Mark’s head.
