  1. 1) At this point I feel like they have something against Woodruff. 2) It is a race for a postseason spot. You want someone experienced and considered more stable. Woodruff has little experience and can't afford growing pains. He is a guy you would rather give a shot towards the start of the season...not with 5 starts to give. Point 1 seems valid but I am baffeled by it, for point 2 he has 12 career starts and a few more innings than Peralta and hasn't been a complete disaster. He would be the hardest thrower in the rotation, if they are unhappy with Guerra or someone else he seems like a legit option. Harvey could go either way if they got him, it would have been nice to add him just think we have already spent too much prospect capital on this seasons chase, especially now that we are facing more of a wildcard race than a division race. I am sure the Reds wanted a decent piece or he would be a Brewer.
  2. Look back one page. viewtopic.php?f=63&t=37453&start=60#p1147930 Got it, thanks. Oh well, I wasn't in the mood for the Brewers to give up anything of value after the Schoop trade and like others have said why not just start Woodruff?
  3. Maybe this has been addressed but it is still a week until Aug 31, can't the Reds just try to get him through waivers again and hope for a better deal than the Brewers offered?
  4. First game is on 8/31 and trial doesn't start until 9/6. If the evidence was that strong to support Cephus than I would think that charges would not have been filed in the first place. I think unlikely until at least 3rd game, thus why Davis was suspended for the first two. The thing that makes me scratch my head about the girls story... if they were stupid drunk at the bar like they claimed, what bar wouldn't have kicked them out or called the police? If you stumble all over the place in a bar, especially around campus, you get bum-rushed out of there in a flash or have the cops called or both. Second, the girl threw up in the hospital while talking to the detective around 4:30am. But she left the bar around midnight-12:30am. There was no mention of alcohol consumption at Cephus' apartment. But the original article said she - and the entire hospital room - reeked of alcohol. If she left the bar around 12:30am and stopped drinking... she reeked of alcohol and threw up four hours later? How often does someone throw up four hours after they stopped drinking? I think there is a decent chance that the girls drank a lot of alcohol - perhaps on purpose - after leaving Cephus' apartment. It's been a long time since I have had a puker from binge drinking but I never really threw up while drinking unless I did some stupid chugging. But a few hours later or in the morning it happened all the time. Not sure what to think of all this, it took a long time for the charges. Just from a football fan point of view he is a big loss, they are deep but he is/was their best wideout, he may have been the difference against Ohio State last year had he not been injured.
  5. Whew! I really wanted him in the offseason and wanted nothing to do with Arrieta. Nice to see a massive whif by the Cubs on this, they deserve it.
  6. LOL no doubt, I just started following packer news more than Brewers in the last few days, I usually listen to at least part of the Brewers games when I am home and didn't even feel like it last night The need to turn this thing around fast.
  7. I am late tuning in today but the Cubs started a LH and we started Perez at 2nd and Arcia at SS? Oof, I hope there is some info here that I haven't seen like Schoop had a migraine or something. I mean the only reason I thought the Schoop trade made any sense was so we could balance out the lefty hitters against southpaws ESPECIALLY against the Cubs. I really hope Kodi and Ortiz bust out as some seem to expect, because right now I am not very high on the Brewers getting much of anything out of these trades.
  8. They are all getting big now, I think that is why there is more pessimism every day here, it's time to get going. Just tuned into the box score, nice that Cub killer Braun showed up, now we need more of that tomorrow.
  9. I think the Schoop trade is a sore spot for some right now and there is a pretty long stretch of .500ish play, a lot of us are just getting anxious that they can't seem to turn the corner especially now that they have added some players. To the Brewers credit other than the Pirates 5 game series they have not really had any extended periods of bad play even though it may seem like it sometimes. A Sunday win would be nice, hopefully Anderson can keep the ball in the park today.
  10. Won 9 of the last 14 games (10-6 after the all-star break). Interesting time to post something like this. We have play the Nationals, Dodgers (7 times), Rockies, and Giants in that span. I think overreacting is a safe word to use. But just playing .500 ball over a much longer sample size, maybe the new players make a difference, certainly a better looking lineup every day. But if we go .500 from here on out it's coin flip if we make the playoffs with so many team contending. It's the game thread, just posting my frustrations with the team after a tough loss. 10-6 is nice but the continued failure to finish off good starts to series sorta sucks.
  11. Don't like it the NFL and don't like it here, plenty of champions were crowned before it existed, not sure what the obsession is with it. It's just a game.
  12. What a let down, I remember back in May when we hit our peak a lot of the predictor models said we would regress. Here we are 2+ months later and I am starting to believe that maybe we are really just a .500 team that just got off to a hot start. I know we are still in wildcard position but getting discouraged by the treading water we have been doing. Oh well, like I said earlier it's only one game but this felt like a key one going forward. Overreacting at a down point I am sure but we are going to battle for the wildcard right to the end IMO, wish we wouldn't have made the Schoop trade.
  13. Well Albers, Barnes and Jennings are in the pen. Not a lot of great options there. Yeah Perez in the 9th and the bottom of the 10th were our chances. Still got a shot.
  14. gah, that was our best chance, used up all our good bullpen guys
  15. I hope so, still 3 innings to come back, was really looking at this as a turn the corner game today but I guess it's still just one game. At some point they need to start moving forward again, if we lose today it has to be like the 15th time we are 15 over.
  16. And the walk before the HR, ugh, looks like another lousy Sunday game, Gray at only 40 pitches and settling in.
  17. Well so far so good, knew it would be tough with Gray and he seems likely go a while today but if Miley can get us to the bullpen I like the chances, even if they tie it up.
  18. We have to be due on a Sunday, right? Feels like a big game, Rockies are a potential wildcard threat, a sweep would be huge. A day off and then the Padres coming in, a good chance to start an August run and finally break out of the around 15 over place we have been stuck in for 2 months.
  19. He has been with Baltimore his whole mlb career, I wouldn't be shocked if he wasn't happy about the trade. But he will settle in and hopefully the pennant chase will light a fire under him. I didn't like the trade but it's nice having 6 HR hitters in the lineup and another off the bench, I am guessing it wasn't Stearns first choice on Tuesday but he did need to do something. Hopefully the dramatic win gets the entire offense going, we have enough sluggers now that more than 1 should be hot at a time.
  20. Are you in the blackout area? I have Direct TV included with my place in Florida so I finally figured out I can cancel cable up here and watch most stuff with the "go" channels on my Roku. Not the Brewers, just checked blacked out on FS1, MLB.TV games always blacked out, not sure about ESPN.So a lot of radio for me, weird thing is I could watch the Marlins series up here a few weeks ago. Yeah i know VPN or something but sort of into being back on radio.
  21. Thanks, I guess I thought pitcher WAR was heavily FIP weighed but I guess Broxton and Cain taking away HR's has to matter too. I was looking at BR before posing this knew I was missing something there and that was it.
  22. Off topic but this had me comparing Arrieta and Chacin stats today, they are very similar yet Arrieta has a 2.1 and Chacin a 1.4 WAR. I am looking at ESPn which I think uses bWAR but in FIP Chacin is actually a little better. Just a question for advanced stats guys but I can't seem to find a difference in the stats that would explain the .7 WAR difference. Why does Chacin's WAR seem so low? His walks are a little high but he hasn't given up a ton of homers like Anderson and it isn't like Arrieta strikes out a ton.
  23. Yes, I have finally given up this season that he is going to be the player of old but my first thought after the Mouse trade was I sure am glad we have Braun for lefty starters and off the bench to balance out the LH hitters. An very expensive role player for sure but a pretty good one when healthy. Plus I think he is a notorious Cub killer.
