  1. BYU may smoke us but I am just relieved we won't lose to an 11 or 12 seed like the last couple trips, I don't think I could stomach that again.
  2. I do think the Oline has improved quite a bit and it was above average last year. I am assuming Morgan will be just fine at RG considering his 1st round pick status. Jaire may surprise some by still being here, they won't get anything for him if teams believe he will be released and there is a good argument for keeping him if you can't trade him. WR and red zone offense is still my biggest worry, the end of the year showed me Love isn't ready to carry the team and needs a strong WR core. It's early, I agree with concerns about drafting athletes who won't provide immediate help but we had a solid draft class last year with only Morgan's shoulder bringing it down a bit. I really wish they would have found a way with Adams or Metcalf but there is still the draft. I don't get too wound up with our rival's acquisitions at this point, the wheels can come off pretty quickly for all teams and the Vikings in particular don't know they have a QB.
  3. Yes. I was reading it in the context of their consideration of Rodgers but Darnold only left last week so it probably was more relating to that. But I never believed for a second they were keeping Darnold since the playoff loss, that's probably why I hadn't considered it.
  4. Why would anyone believe the Vikings would look to trade McCarthy? That part of the story seems like something the Vikings threw in to make it sound like they are committed to him when it really isn't necessary.
  5. If true we know he is not worried about how it looks copying Favre. Vikings just traded for a backup RB Mason from the Niners so they are really going in on 25, do they really want to go in with only essentially a rookie at QB? Tough decision and they must be agonizing over it.
  6. Yes, maybe Rodgers has earned it but the media bashing seems way premature. The Steelers job only became an option over the weekend and there are reports they want a discount like Rodgers reportedly would have done for the Rams. Appalachia isn't Southern California and Rodgers just got dumped after taking a pay cut for the Jets. I don't think he will get the 45 million that has been suggested but it's hard to blame him for wanting starting NFL QB money if that is the holdup here.
  7. Rodgers probably loving that he is slightly more in demand than expected. I think he would rather not move and sign with the Giants but they might take a QB in draft. Vikings already drafted someone and won't just hand Rodgers the job. Steelers would be his best shot at a postseason run. The thing not talked about much is who would pay him the most money and that may be the holdup now.
  8. With more teams having cap room these days free agency becomes more of a roster churn every year. Packers let Jones and Runyon go, sign Xavier and Jacobs. Myers and Slaton, Banks and Hobbs. We give up on some of our draft picks and bring in players other teams gave up on. I have faith Gutes gets the better of these deals but I think Hobbs is a bit of a head scratcher too. It's like they were just determined to get a CB and he was plan D.
  9. The NFL sure knows how to keep us interested all year.
  10. It's in Pitt....bummer.
  11. I was sort of surprised the Steelers made the Metcalf move without a QB in place. If true very good for Rodgers.
  12. I didn't mean Davante was a similar player to watson, just that Watson's injury is why we are talking about Adams and Metcalf at all.
  13. I am a Davante fan for sure so that impacts my disappointment here. But Watson's injury makes WR a big need in my mind and I don't think Adams is declining yet. I am guessing the Packers share your concern about his age/price so it doesn't really matter. I just don't think we can count on fixing the WR issue in the draft. Godwin is coming off his second major injury and is 29, I don't see the Packers taking risk there either.
  14. I'm not, an NFC contender filled a huge hole and we are left hoping for another drop machine in MVS.
  15. The giants really seem like it would have to be a 2 year plan for Rodgers if he is after another SB. Maybe he brings Adams with and turns the offense around quick but it's still hard to see them being much more than a fringe playoff contender in 25. But Jets aren't much better and he was willing to stay there. Who knows, maybe he takes less money to go to the Vikes and is willing to battle for the starting job. It's not the worst decision he could make at this point.
  16. Fading to a 5 seed and 1st round loss seems more likely at this point.
  17. There is reporting now that Vikings may be interested in Rodgers if they can't sign Daniel Jones. That doesn't make much sense to me, I doubt Rodgers wants to compete with McCarthy for job and Jones seems like he would be signed as a backup. If the Vikings think they have a SB roster they should go with Rodgers for 25 but I still don't see it happening. Rodgers will have to play for Giants if he wants to continue. Oof.
  18. I think If New England dangles #38 and another pick it's not a stretch to think Buffalo might try to top it, Seattle could benefit from so many teams interested. A lot depends on how you view Metcalf I guess, is he just a rich man's Watson or an Odell/Moss type talent who will dominate with the right team? Maybe the Bills are in play for Adams but I suspect he will end up in GB or LA. Godwin is in a tier below Metcalf and Adams in my mind so if the Bills want to go all in on 25 DK may be their best move. I agree the Packers should stay out of a bidding war, I don't think I would trade #54 and Wicks for him but I am sure I would learn to like it if the Packers did.
  19. Buffalo may be desperate enough to give up #30 and maybe a mid round pick swap that will include their 3rd. Metcalf seems too boom or bust for my risk tolerance at that price but I am sure the Packers are waiting to see what the price actually is.
  20. Almost sure to join his brother in SF I would think.
  21. I saw Zierlein talking about Sanders on NFL network this morning. He said he thinks in a weak Qb year everyone just mocks him to QB needy teams and compared him to Malik Willis who was also mocked high in a weak QB year but dropped. I would be shocked if the Packers picked a short WR in 1st round. They already have Reed and prefer bigger guys outside in their offense.
  22. They could still use an OT I think but you could be right. Maybe they have their eye on moving up for one of the premier D players as well and wanted to make sure they improved on the oline first.
  23. It's nice to hear they will be active in FA again, especially after they knocked it out of the park last offseason. 6'6" 286 lbs, a big DE who has some pass rushing skills would certainly be a welcome addition.
  24. They have 2 picks in the top of the 2nd round so they are probably not too worried about giving up mid round picks to bolster the line. I have no idea but I think it is just as likely they move down in the 2nd if they want to get some picks back.
  25. I think a security blanket on 3rd and 4th down for Love and a legit red zone threat are the biggest things Adams would bring. Solving the red zone issues may be the Packers top offseason need. Adams may not take the top off the defense like a healthy Watson but he would draw plenty of coverage away from the other guys. Edit: Some morning googling tells me Packers are the betting favorite to land Davante FWIW
