  1. Was just thinking the same thing and I assumed the cap hit would be larger. I would be all for it but it's not a Packer type move. You have to think Packers are bringing in someone though, looks like Gilmore is off the market now.
  2. It will be interesting to see what sort of contract he gets, my guess is a 7-8 million one year prove it deal. Hopefully it's not with a rival and he goes to the AFC, it will sting a lot less for me. We just had a similar situation with Jones and of course he put in a relatively healthy year with the Vikes although he did slow late in the year. Jalen Ramsey?
  3. I wonder if Alexander's agent just thought the Packers were bluffing and they would keep him on his current salary. But from the Packers perspective they can't offer him the restructure without the real threat of release. I wonder if Tom gets an extension now, it's hard for me to get my head around the need for the cap space, especially since they booted some of his hit to 2026. I know we have a lot of guys on expiring deals this season but outside of the OT's and maybe Quay none are really must keep. And they seem to be moving on from RWalker.
  4. Packers to release Jaire today. I think this is a blunder, he will be in Minneapolis soon I am sure.
  5. I think he understands but just like Favre he doesn't think he needs the offseason work. He tried pretty hard to keep building with the Jets but that franchise is a crap show. He can still make the throws and the Vikes have the tackles to protect him, they spent 12 million on Darnold for 1 year and he worked out fine with those weapons. I don't know how good McCarthy will be, they believe in him so who am I to second guess. Rodgers is motivated, the question is really can his body hold up. I do get not wanting the circus he brings.
  6. $20 million is less than some of the numbers that were thrown around in March. Not that expensive a roll of the dice for Steelers. I am still sort of surprised the Vikings didn’t do that at that price.
  7. I would really like to see them extend Jenkins to lock him at center for the next few years but not sure the team wants to do that. It's just that they seem to be building a good oline and I would like to see it kept together longer than this year, just let Walker and Rhyan walk and keep the rest. I like getting Detroit at home week 1, they may be feeling some pressure after getting bounced in playoffs and would have probably preferred a weakling to get things back on track. 2-0 would set us up nicely. For those of us with Gold package it's a love and hate schedule. Great matchups but Thursday and Monday night games sort of stink. Especially when you have a 4 hour drive like me and have to take multiple days off work to attend. Eagles could be valuable ticket though.
  8. Nope, but we are in Detroit on Thanksgiving. The opening 5 day home stint with Lions and Wash should tell us a lot about the team.
  9. Yes, when you look at the WR's in our division a healthy Jaire could easily be the difference between a division title or yet another 7 seed. I would think converting 4.25 million of salary to $250k active roster bonuses would be a fair compromise but it wouldn't surprise me if that packers want double that number. Up until now the recent talk of him returning has been mostly speculation but Peter Schragers report on his conversation with MLF seems to give it more legs. Sounds like he will be back.
  10. Stackhouse sounds like a guy who might stick as Slaton's replacement as run stuffer. I was thinking we still had Jonathon Ford but he is with the Bears now.
  11. I really don't understand why you would leak that you are going to cut him and continue to try and trade him. He will probably sign with the Vikings or Lions and they will luck out and get a healthy season out of him. I agree that CB seems like huge weakness now that we passed on drafting one high. I do get not wanting to throw good money after bad but you need to try to win the Super Bowl too and most of us thought we had a chance with him coming back for the playoffs last year. It seems worth rolling the dice on to me as his teammates seem to like him.
  12. I agree, if they took a guy not typical size for what they like it is probably BPA at a need position. I like it, we don't take exciting skill position guys this high too often lately.
  13. I was sweating out the Chargers pick, felt like Vikes would jump ahead of us for someone.
  14. Golden small for Packers, I like Johnson
  15. Broncos took Barron
  16. Yes just scrolling through mocks and saw ESPn had him to Niners at 11.
  17. I hope for Will Johnson but wouldn't be surprised if the Packers passed on him with the injury questions and no 40. A big group of players to choose from that fit our needs, tough to call at this point.
  18. Nolen went a bit earlier than I have seen but we are probably into that 2nd tier now where there aren't really any reaches.
  19. And the Bears didn't get him. I have had enough offseason hype about how awesome a team barely off a 10 game losing streak is going to be this season.
  20. Jags got a couple of other picks back this year but a bad team giving up next year's first is always risky. Ask the Panthers. Steep price for 3 spots, not sure what the chart says.
  21. Sure, but that hasn't been their MO. Last year the reportedly wanted to move up but just wouldn't spend what it took. But who knows, maybe for the fans attending they take a big plunge tonight.
  22. I would be beyond stunned if the Packers traded out of the first round tonight. Murphy worked way too hard to get this in GB to crush the fans like that.
  23. If either Will Johnson or McMillan get to #23 I think there will be some celebrating here tonight. I just saw a mock where Johnson doesn't go in round 1 at all but I don't believe it. As always it would help if all the QB's with a shot get drafted above us but unlike last year's run it sounds like only Ward will go.
  24. I would agree CB is #1 need, as much I would love to believe Jaire is backup plan to draft I think that ship has sailed, he will probably be traded during this draft and we will be disappointed in return. WR is a very close second though in my mind, I do not think much of any of the guys after top 4 and that may only be top 2 without Doubs and Watson.
  25. Thanks to JosephC and all the others who share their draft research and insight here. I don't follow the draft that closely but can usually get up to speed just reading this forum in the weeks leading up. Can't wait until Thursday night.
