  1. Gah, bullpen has seemed shaky but then I always think that and Uribe/Megill have been lights out the last week or so. Going to have to rally, hate to let these games get away, still mad about the Colorado game.
  2. It does seem like such a small sample size should be disqualifying. But he started his career with 11 no hit innings and beat Skenes and Kershaw and they want to draw eyeballs. He is almost sure to get an inning, I guess this will push him back in rotation and is a roundabout way of keeping his innings down. Happy for him, he is so fun to watch.
  3. We have a string of them lately where we can’t find anyone who doesn’t stink that day, Cubs then Twins and now this. We won those first 2….
  4. Thanks, for some reason I assumed his place on the all time list thing just got discovered on Wednesday so didn't look back further in the thread. It really is crazy how many he is throwing but at least Hunter Greene is another young phenom so maybe they are the first couple of a whole bunch of young starters throwing 101+. I totally get what you are saying, but I am just going to tell myself Jacob is a freak and will never have a serious injury. 🙂
  5. He has earned the job, at least for now. I sort of thought he was brought up because they needed a better bat but his defense has been solid, at least according to bref. He has been hitting better recently and you would like to think he has some upside there.
  6. I read a couple of posts about this in the game thread yesterday, my first thought was sure, but the climb will get steeper. He probably will get hurt but in this spin rate era is it really that unheard of anymore for a guy to keep doing that? He is a very tall guy. If anyone has the list off the all time 101 pitches please post it, I would think deGrom for one might be up there and he made it a while before getting hurt.
  7. If he stays white hot he will certainly play his way in. In the end I think his contract will be a lot like Braun's last deal, injuries will drag down the overall value we get but he will be a productive player when out there. At least he doesn't need days off all the time like Braun did and he seems to be settling into a DH role that wasn't available for Ryan.
  8. He has really dug himself out of a horrid start very quickly.
  9. It was a long shot but still a shot, we were up 8 runs. It’s no big deal, I am sure they asked him how he felt about it.
  10. I mean he had a perfect game going, he was going back out there.
  11. It’s not like he was throwing no hitters in the minors, he will take his lumps in the majors soon enough, but damn this is still fun!
  12. Getting to 6 over seems to be one of those humps we hit every season. Let’s get it done against CC and the Cubs and get on a roll again.
  13. I screamed at the TV when he did that, it was like we just clinched the Super Bowl and then it was still in doubt. LOL at the comment above that Packer fans have forgotten that.
  14. It sounds like he is just a guy they like and are trying to figure out a way to keep him from falling off the roster. I think we tried this with another WR one offseason in the last few years and it didn't amount to much. But who knows, his brother is a starting CB.
  15. Packers move Bo Melton to CB, so there WAS a plan all along! 🙂
  16. The Packers have been playing the perennial long game at least going back to the beginning of the TT era. Yes. sort of the multiple bites of the apple thing we debate with the Brewers approach. Things seem to be changing a bit in the last few years with more FA acquisitions, but I wonder if this just because of revenue/cap growth. It used to just be the bad teams with the cap room to splurge on the big name FA's. Now after the sense of urgency talk they just dumped a guy who is maybe down for down the best player on the team to save a few cap bucks for future years. While I do get the business calculation with this move, our SB chances in 25 are less than they were 2 days ago in my opinion.
  17. Yes, and the unexpected midweek additions on the injury list. I haven't forgotten how disappointing it was that he didn't make it back for the playoffs as expected. I just wish we had better options without him.
  18. It is reported that it was a deal that would have made him a FA after 25, which would have been nice since we could get a potential comp pick. He didn't like the structure which likely means it had too much money in incentives or the incentives were tougher to hit like 80% of snaps or something. I would guess as free agent he will get more in base salary than the Packers were offering, a lot of contenders would take a gamble on a 1 year deal with him. I would like to know if they lowballed him or just converted a lot of that $17 million in new money to incentives. Maybe it will leak.
  19. Was just thinking the same thing and I assumed the cap hit would be larger. I would be all for it but it's not a Packer type move. You have to think Packers are bringing in someone though, looks like Gilmore is off the market now.
  20. It will be interesting to see what sort of contract he gets, my guess is a 7-8 million one year prove it deal. Hopefully it's not with a rival and he goes to the AFC, it will sting a lot less for me. We just had a similar situation with Jones and of course he put in a relatively healthy year with the Vikes although he did slow late in the year. Jalen Ramsey?
  21. I wonder if Alexander's agent just thought the Packers were bluffing and they would keep him on his current salary. But from the Packers perspective they can't offer him the restructure without the real threat of release. I wonder if Tom gets an extension now, it's hard for me to get my head around the need for the cap space, especially since they booted some of his hit to 2026. I know we have a lot of guys on expiring deals this season but outside of the OT's and maybe Quay none are really must keep. And they seem to be moving on from RWalker.
  22. Packers to release Jaire today. I think this is a blunder, he will be in Minneapolis soon I am sure.
  23. I think he understands but just like Favre he doesn't think he needs the offseason work. He tried pretty hard to keep building with the Jets but that franchise is a crap show. He can still make the throws and the Vikes have the tackles to protect him, they spent 12 million on Darnold for 1 year and he worked out fine with those weapons. I don't know how good McCarthy will be, they believe in him so who am I to second guess. Rodgers is motivated, the question is really can his body hold up. I do get not wanting the circus he brings.
  24. $20 million is less than some of the numbers that were thrown around in March. Not that expensive a roll of the dice for Steelers. I am still sort of surprised the Vikings didn’t do that at that price.
  25. I would really like to see them extend Jenkins to lock him at center for the next few years but not sure the team wants to do that. It's just that they seem to be building a good oline and I would like to see it kept together longer than this year, just let Walker and Rhyan walk and keep the rest. I like getting Detroit at home week 1, they may be feeling some pressure after getting bounced in playoffs and would have probably preferred a weakling to get things back on track. 2-0 would set us up nicely. For those of us with Gold package it's a love and hate schedule. Great matchups but Thursday and Monday night games sort of stink. Especially when you have a 4 hour drive like me and have to take multiple days off work to attend. Eagles could be valuable ticket though.
