  1. 12 hours til gametime. Is it weird that I'm more pumped for this game than Opening Day? Kill the Cubs.
  2. I thought you'd like it. Really though, I think the flags are a neat tradition.
  3. I like the Indians, which is odd because I hated them when we were in the AL. I don't openly root for them, but they are a team I like. My second favorite team is the Royals. I fell in love with them when they had that great 2/3rds of a season in 03. I love that stadium too, reminds me a lot of County Stadium. I also like the A's and the Mariners.
  4. I just don't see Wood lasting a whole season no matter how many innings he throws. I think he can be pretty effective when healthy so he's not a terrible choice for closer. Gagne is in the same boat for the most part, just with a slightly better chance of his arm holding up.
  5. They usually do this the week after the All Star Game as well.
  6. I am loving this thread. But I also agree that having at least one regular Cubs fan around is a welcome addition. Just don't tell your Cubbie lovin friends. I just hope there's baseball involving the Crew on Monday. As for Miller Park, I remember going to the first home night game at County Stadium for the '99 season. The announced attendance was in the quad-digits(8k or something). It was pretty much unbearable. And the weather was awful too.
  7. I'll try again. You're the man Pedro. Thanks as always.
  8. I just can't believe that temperature for Wrigley. Not with all those cold days April-June. No way.
  9. Always love the pedro giveaways. I'm in.
  10. I saw him hit a home run once. Seriously. And honest to God, it was against the Yankees.
  11. I vote for "Tour". The Snow in October idea is good, but it rarely snows in October around here.
  12. The Brewers aren't forcing anyone to go to Opening Day. There's a high demand for everything, including parking on Opening Day and usually sold out weekend nights. Why wouldn't they charge more if they know people will be willing to pay for it?
  13. Brad Lesley Thank you, b-r.com
  14. Ah, that's not too bad. It's far worse in the "professional" game when the teams use four full timeouts in the last 20 seconds of a game.
  15. And each team has how many timeouts per half? This is one of the big reasons why basketball just isn't watchable to me. Way too many timeouts, completely ruins the flow of the game. TV timeouts are fine, as long as it's like hockey and each team gets one timeout per game.
  16. I went to PNC last year. The stadium is beautiful, but it's very simple. I find that as a plus. Not too big, not too flashy and a perfect location. Walking over the Clemente bridge is cool, minus the beggars and numerous vendors selling non-official merch. The Pittsburgh area itself is a beautiful, hilly area. Coming out of the Fort Pitt Tunnel and seeing the city open up right before you is a cool sight. I've also been to Kansas City, Cincy and St. Louis(old). I really enjoyed Kansas City. We stayed in Overland Park, KS and finding the park was easy as pie. Tickets were cheap, parking was ample to say the least. There was a rain delay for our second game there so we got pretty trashed in the parking lot. Great times. Fans are very nice but it's tough to get them excited when the team is 20 games back in June. The food in KC is outstanding. St. Louis has a good number of very good fans. However, we met all of those people after the game. The toothless yokels we had to sit by were nothing but annoying. Also, it didn't help that it was 101 that day with 90% humidity. Didn't get to enjoy much of the city as we had to make our way to Cincy right after the game. Cincinnati is pretty nice. The stadium is right on the river, finding parking was simple. Other than that, I don't remember anything that great. I found the fans super annoying. When Griffey hits a pop up half the stadium jumps out of their seat. Also, this is the only stadium that gave us crap for being Brewers fans. Well besides.... Wrigley. Note how I left this one off the list up there. That's because we had such a horrible time it's not worth the time to talk about it. It's just a playground for drunks.
  17. The Rangers? eww... My NHL team is the first place New York Islanders. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif That's about it for out of state teams though.
  18. See, this is why it's better to be a hot second half team than a hot first half team. If that had been the case this year, with us being a 1/2 game back nobody would be calling for Yost's head. The 24-10 start was an impossible standard for this team to live up to for the rest of the year. I also don't agree with the "if they win the division, I say Yost stays." Alright, so if they lose it by a game he's gone but if they win it by a game and get swept in the playoffs he stays? I don't know if Ned should stay or not, but I'm not going to judge him based solely on the team's record.
  19. Harang only went 10 innings last time out vs the Crew. Hopefully they can knock him out a little sooner today.
  20. I agree. The only thing that's been disappointing for me is the way some fans have reacted to the rough stretch the team has gone through. People got so high on the Brewers after the 24-10 start they raised expectations on a team that might be too young or is just not there yet. For me this has been a very fun and exciting season. However, I do agree they definitely need at least 82 wins for the season to be any kind of success.
  21. I think it looks great. It will take a few days to get completely used to the new look, but overall I like it.
  22. In-game thread? This concept is foreign to me. Please explain. It's one of two threads in which fans complain about anything and everything that goes wrong with the team. Oh, and sometimes they talk about strategy or just post "BRAUN!".
  23. I PM'd you. Thanks for the chance at free tickets.
  24. Fielder and Hardy combined for three home runs in the month of July. Yikes. Here's to a modest goal of doubling that total for August. So you think Fielder is going to hit 6 HRs in August? I'll eat my hat if JJ gets to 20 this year.
  25. The next two series are at home after an off day(the first in 17 days) tomorrow.
