  1. I wonder if the kid will take Uke up on the offer to work as 2nd base. That whole inning(bot 2nd/top 3rd) was wonderful.
  2. Randy better not start crying when he gets out there. That would be unacceptable.
  3. You forgot about .284 OBP Gomez against a RHP once against batting in front of Braun. The Brewers are actually favorites today, though. Good point about Gomez. I don't like seeing him in the lineup against any RHP.
  4. As the kids used to say, done in one. I thought the point of having RRR and Doug Melvin around was so that I didn't have to do it myself? But to answer some part of your question, I'd revamp the bullpen but I'd probably go cheap and bring 30 minor league invites to Spring Training. I'd do the same at SS, probably with crappier results. I'd trade Greinke as soon as he makes a good start, two if needed. In that trade, I'd hope to get a good young arm and either a decent corner IF prospect or a slightly lower ceiling P prospect. Any thing else is pretty much crap-shoot gravy. Try to sign Marcum. Look to see what we could get for Hart in the offseason. I dunno, I'd probably be pretty terrible as a GM, cold off the street and all. I'll leave it to Doug and the rest of the front office.
  5. Funny, that's the only thing he has been doing somewhat well lately. 19Ks in his last 14 IP coming into the night. It's the 11 ER, 5 HRs and 7 BBs in that same time period that's the real issue.
  6. hahaha, thank you! The Wayne Franklin/Matt Kinney debates were some of the most ridiculous, hilarious and dumbfounding things I've ever had the glory of reading on Brewerfan.net. I forget(and have no real desire to look up) who had more wins, but I remember one poster being dead set on that guy being FAR superior to the other. The guy with the worse record was the worst pitcher in the league and should have been traded immediately, if not shot. It was just bizarre.
  7. Ryan Braun could hit a fruit fly at 100 mph. He's crazy good. Like, I'd absolutely hate it if he was on a different team. He'd be so awful to face. Please stay for as long as you can swing it, Ryan. I'd love it.
  8. Which is exactly why the players union would never, ever go for this. The DH is coveted by the union because it's generally a high paying job in today's game.
  9. Thank you. All I wanted to do was give Brooks a quality send off.
  10. Ahh yeah, I remember that. And I'm completely with you, the guy is a clown. He(and many others) just perpetuate ESPN's attempt at ruining American sport. As for my list of stadiums.... 1. PNC 2. Miller Park 3. Great American Ballpark 4. Kauffman Stadium (pre-renovation) 5. County Stadium 6. Wrigley 7. Old Busch Stadium
  11. I'm sure Brooks Conrad is a fine fellow, but I don't think anyone is heartbroken to see him go. I never thought anyone would ever come close to Enrique Cruz and his .085 in 2003, but sure enough, Brooks Conrad was just the man to do it! I'm ever so insignificantly and almost undetectably proud that I was at the game in which he hit his first home run as a Brewer. A moment I will almost certainly forget.
  12. Certainly makes this game much more exciting than it would have been had Vargas gotten the call. Let's go T-Burg!
  13. What does ANY of this mean? And why is he even responding to the question? Baffling. As much as I hate bunting all the time, I have to say, at least Dusty Baker(obviously a strange, tormented man) has never touched this team.
  14. Switched over to MLB Network after our debacle and watched Cain's perfect game from the 7th inning on. Some excellent defense in that game, including a RF making a diving catch on the warning track in dead center. 14Ks to boot. And yeah, pretty bizarre to be complaining about something happening too often when it has only occurred less than 2 dozen times in nearly 100 years.
  15. Was going to say the same. That's been the key issue. Brooks Conrad, Edwin Maysonet(fluke slam aside) and Cesar Izturis in the same MLB lineup is unacceptable for any team, but especially a team that won their division last year. Injuries happen, but you MUST have a better option than Cesar Izturis as your main back up at no less than 3(THREE) positions. If you don't, you are asking for a miserable season.
  16. How soft is that? One of the Giants literally pulled a temper tantrum in the clubhouse.
  17. I agree completely and feel the same way. Well said. Also, I think you have to add Cirillo to the list of fondly remembered Brewers from that bleak era.
  18. I was saddened to hear the news of his passing. I only remember him as the voice of the Packers. Growing up in the early 90s, I can't tell you how many Sundays I spent in my backyard tossing the football around listening to him. I've missed his voice ever since he retired and now, the world will miss his presence. RIP Jim

  20. As we were tailgating before Game 2 of the NLDS a couple weeks back a friend of mine asked, "Is this the best Brewers team we'll ever see?" All of us being in our mid-20s, we genuinely had not seen a Brewer team this good. Some pondered the question for a while but for me the answer was a quick and definite "No." I was a junior in high school when the Brewers lost 106 games. I recall there being no love for the Crew with my peers. There were literally two kids out of over a thousand that somewhat regularly wore Brewer gear. It was akin to being a fan of the game of cricket in Idaho. There were many times during the dark ages in which I seriously thought the Brewers would never make the playoffs. They were a horrible major league team with little in the minors for hope. Add to that the widening gap in payrolls in MLB and it wasn't looking good. It may have taken nine years to get this far, but to be where we are is an accomplishment in and of itself. As lame as the NLCS was and as disappointing an end as it was, there's still a lot to be grateful for and still plenty of hope for next season. This was the best Brewers team I've ever seen, but we'll be back and we'll get it done, hopefully sooner rather than later.
  21. Forget everything. Play baseball and accomplish the task at hand. Let's Go Brewers!
  22. It's another year of seeing if they can get out of the cellar for the Islanders. At least they have some good young talent(whose careers will be destroyed by being) surrounded by (very crappy) veterans. Who knows if they'll even be on the island or even in the NHL, period, in a couple years. Hey, at least they're ahead of the Rangers in the standings! Let's Go Islanders!
