  1. Smith regressed badly in the 2nd half of the season (BA .293/.215 - OBP .392/.265). I would rather Milwaukee went after Miranda and looked at signing DeJong or Urshela as a veteran IF. I like the idea of getting Robert on a one year "show me" type deal (decline option if it doesn't work out), but believe it would take a lot more than Black to get him. That would allow Yelich to be a full time DH. Turang (2B) - Contreras (C) - Yelich (DH) - Robert (RF) - Chourio (LF) - Miranda (3B) - Hoskins (1B) - Mitchell (CF) - Ortiz (SS) Bench: DeJong/Urshela-Haase-Perkins-Dunn
  2. The Brewers are probably going to DH Yeli quite a bit, so unless Hoskins opts out, I don't see any way the Crew adds Goldschmidt. If Hoskins leaves, Walker is the one I'd target. I don't see spending money on Polanco because Dunn could hit .213/.286. Moncada's bat could help, but he is a ticking time bomb with his extensive history of injuries. I'd rather see them work something out for Miranda, then use Williams, Black, Rodriguez, etc... for a power hitting LF/RF.
  3. Mears' problem appears to be his fastball. It's straight as a string. No movement. Hitters sit fastball and t-off when they see it. He has to learn a two seamer or a change-up to keep hitters off his #1.
  4. Make it 4 bombs, 10 ERs, and 12 hits for Montas in his last 8 1/3 IPs.
  5. Do the Brewers have a starter who can keep the ball in the ballpark? They have to be approaching 200 bombs given up as a staff. Bottom 5 or 6 for sure. That's 3 bombs, 6 ERs and 10 hits in Montas' last 8 IPs. It's going to be a challange for Murphy to pick a starter after Peralta and Meyers.
  6. Hoskins 5 hits in his last 50 ABs - 17 Ks. Maybe he can get lucky and run into one tonight.
  7. Hoskins 5 for his last 46 with 16 Ks. (season .292 OBP). Between Bauers and Hoskins they are hitting under .200 with an under .300 OBP. I guess the the bright side is both Hoskins and Bauers are due. I just hope it happens very soon.
  8. It had to be about 500-1 betting odds that Turang would whiff or roll over on one to the 2B. He looked like a high school kid. I can't imagine what Murphy was thinking when he penciled in Turang at 2B tonight. Oh crap! Here we go again with Rea. He's absolutely horrible tonight. Another bomb and 4 straight hits. 8 earned runs in 1+ IPs. That's 10 dingers allowed in his last 6 games. Gotta hope the Dodgers can mash and beat the cubs.
  9. Rae's 25th bomb allowed this year. Brewer pitchers are having a rough year keeping the ball in the ball park.
  10. I just don't see the Yankees having any interest in Hoskins, unless as you said, packaged with Williams which really downgrades the return. Hoskins is hitting a whopping .208 with a .292 OBP. Negative 20 runs better than average and a negative dWAR. I think the Brewers are stuck with Hoskins unless they take on an equally horrible contract and then why do it. Right now I don't think you'd get a used bag of balls for Peguero and Hoskins.
  11. That's the 4th bomb Myers has allowed in his last 13 IPs. He recovered nicely and only gave up the one run. Get that one back in the Crew's half now.
  12. What is the heck was Murphy doing letting Turang (who does nothing but rollover everything) bat against a lefty in that situation? Perkins was horribly overmatched too.
  13. Hoskins whiffs once again! Turang looked like a high school kid who just wanted to sit down.
  14. 3 more bombs allowed by Brewer pitchers. They have to be in the bottom 2 or 3 in all MLB in HRs allowed. Not something a playoff team can continually allow.
  15. Another bomb allowed by a Brewer pitcher. That's the 160th of the year. 4th worst in MLB. Let's hope it goes like yesterday and the Crew can go nuts with the bats again.
  16. Mears as a Brewer: 11 IPs - 12 hits - 8 runs - 4 HRs....... Wilson has turned himself into the last-man-in-the-pen role. Neither of those two guys should be with Milwaukee next year. Brewcrew is right, no reason to keep Mears and Wilson and not bring up the young guys.
  17. 10 hits and 4 bombs in only 10.1 IPs! Was Mears the only guy Murphy had?
  18. That's Mitchell's 16th K in his last 30 ABs!!
  19. Time to sit Ortiz's rear end on the bench. Major Lg. players just can't make those kind of stupid, high school mistakes.
  20. Just put Turang at #9 and leave him there! It's sickening watching him flail away and whiff wrsp or roll over on a ball. Murphy, it's time to realize Turang is a terrific fielder but a .230's - 240's hitter.
  21. BrewCrew: Are you talking about T. Anderson from LAA? T Stepenson is a catcher for the Reds. Anderson would be a nice fill-in until some of the youger Brewers SPs are ready to go. I'd let the Angels pick from Wilson, Civale, Ross, Ashby or maybe Peguero/Payamps plus throw in Milner. I'd rather just get Pivetta if possible and use Frelick/Lara to get help at 3B (assuming Milwaukee will lose out on Adames and Ortiz goes to SS).
  22. I wonder if the Brewers could make a deal for Josh Smith of Texas. With Jung coming back and Foscue coming up, Smith should be available and fairly cheap. He plays all the infield positions and is having a very nice year for Texas. Not arby eligible until 2026. Get Gio Urshela to replace Bauers. IF by some chance, Hoskins opts out, Walker is a FA and shouldn't break the bank. I think they need to deal for one #3 type SP. With Gasser not available until later, there are too many question marks with Montas, Civale, Woody, Ross, Ashby, and Hall to go into 2025 with what they already have.
  23. The Brewers' two biggest rivals, Cardinals and cubs, clearly improved while Milwaukee went dumpster diving for Montas. After Mears' latest performance, I don't know if he's much help either. I didn't expect Arnold would do much to improve the club by the deadline and he certainly met my expectations. I will say I don't know if any deal the Brewers could have made would have helped their meager chance at making the W.S. (although Paredes's bat would have looked mighty nice in the middle of the Brewers batting order instead of the cubs).
  24. I just don't know if the Brewers would want Lowe with his extensive injury history. Since 2022 he has missed games and on the IL for: back - elbow/triceps - back again - toe - neck - leg - knee - side - oblique - toe again. I don't know if anybody outside the Rays organization knows what's going on with Diaz and his personal problems, or if he'll even play again this year.
  25. The Giants don't have any position player I'd be interested in, especially if it cost the Brewers a prospect. I wouldn't touch Conforto (.226/.298 OBP). He isn't an improvement and very costly. Yaz is slightly better, but not a difference maker by any means. Flores is the worst of the bunch (.595 OPS) and not worth having.
