  1. I totally agree, trying to convince CC of that another story.
  2. Imo, the bottom line in this whole situation is this: Do you trust the fact that Stearn’s knows the true big picture, and if he wants Hiura down below, then there must be a good reason for what just happened. How do we know what’s going on behind the scenes? Maybe he’s giving Shaw Aguilar Thames a certain amount of time to show him what direction to go via trade? Point is, either we trust his decision making ability in this situation or we think we know better. I’m going with the better track record.
  3. Small is a great pick for 3 reasons: 1.) Safety > high floor pick, at worst # 4/5 or usable pen arm. 2.) Upside > I think it’s reasonable to think he will re-gain more Velo as more time passes from his tj. 3.) underslot > saving money here to get more talent 4-10.
  4. Stearns is smart enough to make sure that never an issue, I’m sure he was told it was temporary, that he was ONLY up because Shaw was down, and to use this as a positive learning experience. On a side note, I was wrong in blaming CC, and it being his fault Hiura had to be sent down because of his aversion to a 12 man. Even if they had a 12 man staff, he’d be down to get regular ABs and not play PT with the crew. They weren’t going to play Shaw at first and sit both Thames and Aguilar, right?
  5. Hit his 10th tonight, and 3 walks, torrid stretch, wow.
  6. Exactly, up to 96 before the tj, he’ll get back there at some point moving forward I predict. I love the plus command from the left side, love the curve, deception, stats. Great pick!!
  7. That makes very little sense to me. If you don't think the reason for the move doesn't include the words 'Shaw' and 'Super 2' and instead includes the words 'CC' or 'bullpen', I'd imagine you're off-base. I don’t think so. If we had a 12 man pitching staff, he’d still be up, would’nt he?
  8. If you want to blame anyone for this move, blame CC. He can’t mentally handle a 7 man bullpen. That’s the real reason Hiura is going down. Imo, when Hiura was brought up he was told it would be temporary and he’d be back down when Shaw’s rehab over. Simple. No hard feelings. They have 58 days to get Shaw right before the deadline and it being too late to get outside help. Getting Shaw right is priority #1. Or else it’s gonna get potentially expensive to add yet another bat. Speaking of bats, they also need to decide what to do with Aguilar/Thames. TBD over the next 58 days. Bottom line is, I’m convinced CC has to have 8 in the pen. I’ve wondered why they haven’t had 3 starter arms in the pen instead of 2, so they could get by with 7 in the pen a little easier, but from what I’ve seen,CC doesn’t want 3 arms throwing 2-3 innings saving work for the back end, he wants more pitchers for more matchups.
  9. I’d like to see him send Chacín to the pen, and be given 2-3 starts min.with his pitch mix and command, he can outpitch Chacín and certainly go deeper. I mean in his first start with the crew he took a no hitter into the 8th vs the cards. The guy knows how to pitch.
  10. Big market bias in full swing again, it won’t even change when the crew wins the World Series, now when they win back to back championships......... They're statistical models. I believe the Cubs greater odds are based primarily on run differential not bias. Yes, but no team in baseball the last 2 1/3 years has been projected as badly as the crew. Fangraphs Prospectus even Vegas off off off. So something is going on here. No team in baseball is less analyzed correctly than our team, and it’s not just the national talking heads.
  11. Big market bias in full swing again, it won’t even change when the crew wins the World Series, now when they win back to back championships.........
  12. Predicting Brett Baty. Age will scare some but not the crew, this bat is game changing.
  13. That’s the question in my mind, when does jimmy go back to 4 rest days? Every time I try to predict what the crew will do I’m wrong so I won’t this time either.
  14. It sure appears as though you're still presuming a world where the Brewers picked who turned out to be their 12 best performers out of Spring Training and "hey look how good the team ERA would be if they had". What team in the majors wouldn't benefit greatly from that hindsight? The stats you're posting also meet the very definition of cherry picking so your condescension toward the people using the term is offensive. Disagree. His thesis explains in great detail what I’ve been saying since the experiment ended. Without getting into the detail he did, We have a staff since May that’s top 5 era in baseball. Why? It all changed in the span of days, Burnes and Peralta taken out of the rotation and replaced by gio and Anderson > rotation stabilized. Barnes Wilson Jackson Petricka gone from the pen, and are pitching where they belong > AAA. Burnes and Peralta and Houser to the pen, with Jeffress HEALTHY finally, giving us another quality high leverage arm. Houser has been really good, so has Peralta out of the pen. Two completely different staffs > before May = 2nd worst in the NL. After May = Top 3-4 in NL. The gray area imo is what does this really mean moving forward? I believe the pitching is strong enough to get us into the playoffs as is, but not strong enough to advance. But am confident of outside & inside additions by Stearns to improve our staff.
  15. Agree. We are deep in starters, but, Keuchel would give us a playoff tested veteran pitcher that regularly pitches deep into games. It would be a massive improvement to our rotation. With hopefully a strong Nelson our rotation would be closer to the powerhouse LA rotation.
  16. I believe we are a better team than last year overall, but the dodgers are probably the most improved team in baseball. Bellinger is already over 5 war, but it’s the high quality depth that’s so overwhelming in it’s numbers that a player as good as AJ pollack gets injured and it doesn’t matter one iota. The discipline of all of their hitters has gotten better since last year, earlier this year in Milwaukee when we played them their hitters dominated our pitchers, it was embarrassing how much better they were than us. And their pitching is ridiculous. They go 12 deep in quality starters, which spill over into their bullpen to make it ridiculous too. Their only possible weakness might be in the very back end of their pen in Jansen Baez. But they’ll address that at the deadline. It’s not hyperbole to say that they will win 110+ games and romp over everyone but us. I’m hoping Stearns see’s what I see and is able to spend the money to close the mile wide gap between us and them.
  17. Yes, we lost that game. It wasn't an indication of the series as a whole. Yelich, Braun, Moose to name a few went cold. It happens. And it is still a terrible way to go about making decisions on a team with using one game. We outscored the team you keep using as a "superior" team to us. The Dodgers were blanked in one of the games. Do they need to find more "professional" hitters too? Actually, Soria and Jeffress are a big reason we didn't make the WS. They were awful. Probably more so than a few of our bats going cold (Braun, Moose, Yeli) You make some good points around here at times. But you are posting about 15 times a day right now and most of it is the same message, on every thread we have in the forum. You haven't picked up on how annoying you have been as a poster. You continue to go down the same road, even when your schtick falls apart, you double down on it. For me, you are the worst type of fan. You think the Brewers owe you something and even when they are really, really good. You don't even enjoy it. The Brewers do rely on the homer to score more than some teams but they are good at it and that is how they are built. The same man you keep saying will be looking for a different type of hitter, built this team you watch every single day. And while they have struggled with a man on 3rd with less than 2 outs, they have also been great with runners in scoring position. I'd be willing to bet that they will get better at the first part and probably remain competent with RISP. PITCHING is and has been the issue but even that is beginning to settle in now, without having to break the bank and hit the market. The only thing that matters to me, is our comparison to the dodgers, because we will meet again this year in a repeat series, I’m sure of it. Other than LA, we’re the best team in the NL. Right now there is a large gap, but Stearns can close that gap over the next 2 months. I’m hoping we can spend the money needed to move the needle enough to have a good chance to get past them to the World Series.
  18. No, that was me, thanks for the reminder. Ha
  19. Agenda’s a popular word around here, so I guess I’ll use it too. Game 7 vs dodgers we got shut down by their pitching. 24 runs in 7 games is less than 3 1/2 rpg by the crew. Our bullpen almost won the series for us, right guys? Your “agenda” seems to be whatever I believe, you believe the opposite. That’s the agenda I see here by a little more than a few. But if I’m wrong and you don’t see any issues with being a team too reliant on the home run, fine then we’ll just agree to disagree. After all that is today’s mlb game, with the juiced ball and all. But the Braves can homer and manufacture runs, so can the dreaded dodgers, the Rockies even the cubbies. But not us, I guess we’re just to undisciplined an offense. But we can homer our way to lots of victories especially with our pitching and defense. At least until the playoffs when great pitching usually beats power hitters.
  20. We lost to the dodgers because we couldn’t hit their pitchers. Period. Our pitching, especially our pen almost won the series despite our lack of offense. Again, im confident Stearns will add a quality disciplined bat, hopefully that will make a difference in the playoffs.
  21. huh? It’s not in the crew’s DNA to manufacture runs. This Team doesn’t even try to move em over and get em in. The crew will probably set the all time home run record. That’s their approach, bash ball. But like Bulldogboy, I don’t think that boads well against world class pitching that we’re going to see in the playoffs. But I believe Stearns knows we need another quality non K bat and he’ll get it at the deadline. And I’m hoping our pitching can overcome the Lack of small ball or by then CC and Stearns can get the players to move em over and get em in come playoff time.
