  1. I put it at 50/50 he has a better year than Freddy. This is a perfect arm for our pitching team to tweek and have a top of the rotation guy. I still wouldn't be to surprised if he is in AAA for a month and a half just to gain that extra year of control (pretty sure he was only up a month last year).
  2. I think cutting Banks would only save 4 million and Hobbs like 1. Maybe after a certain date it would be more but it is probably better economics to give each another year. McManus would save 1.9 milly so cutting him would be fine. I feel like we could draft a guy or pick up a cheap player off the street for the same production.
  3. I think we are 5 million over the cap as of now. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/green-bay-packers If we cut Gary, Jenkins, and Nixon we save 35 million. We could re-structure Jacobs and McKinney and problem add another 10-15 million in space. So I am going to say we end up with 40 million in cap space and after the draft and leaving a little room have around 30 to spend in free agency. Free Agents 1)LB/Edge Leo Chanel 3/24 I struggle with the price of linebackers this could be 3/33 or something, Chanel won't be top of the market however. Chanel has been a longstanding favorite of mine since his Badger days. I still believe he can play some edge rusher. As an early down run stuffing ILB and 3rd down edge rusher this would be a steal for a guy who is stil 25. (2nd option= Bobby Wagner 1/10) 2)CB Cobie Durant 2/18 Durant isn't going to be a shutdown corner but has been a consistent quality starting corner for 2 years. That stability is badly needed. Adding him and a rookie draft pick should address a major need. (2nd option= Greg Newsome 3/24) 3) Edge Cam Jordan 1/12 I don't see how the Saints don't re-sign him however he would be a perfect short term veteran add. He still had 10.5 sacks and across from Micah would be nasty. (2nd option= AJ Espenesa 2/16) 2nd= CB DeAngelo Ponds I think Ponds is my favorite prospect in the draft, he was everywhere for IU and because he is short he could be available in the 2nd. Adding Ponds and Durant should make a big difference in secondary. 3rd= Edge/OLB Romello Hieght Overlooked a bit after David Bailey, could help on the edge or off ball linebacker. 4th= OL Jude Bowry I have avoided offensive adds to this point, Bowry would be a nice depth add. 5th=RB Nic Singleton I always liked Singleton at Penn St., spliting time with Allen hurt his production, A bigger back who can catch the ball well fits our backfield. 6th=TE Tanner Koziel He was suppose to go to Wisconsin but had a big year at Houston. 6'7" tight ends who catch 168 passes in 2 years should be rated higher than what I have seen, steal. 7th=QB Taylen Green 6'6" and ran a sub 4.4. I would use him as a Kordell Stewart style player next year as a 3rd QB and like gadget play WR/RB/athlete.
  4. Sorry, to me based on would mean Jones and more for 1 of those pitchers. I would think value wise we should get Jones and then a top 10 Yankee prospect for on of those guys. It would be hard to figure value because in a couple months when this trade would be plausible to me the values of guys can change alot.
  5. Don't forget he stole 8 bases in 19 games. I get that he isn't a threat to steal 20 bases when he gets to the bigs but that does tell me he knows the game well and is a heady player. Fischer has like a mid-90's 3B feel to me like Troy Glaus, Eric Chavez, Aramis Rameriz style player.
  6. I don't disagree with any of the rankings but I find it incredible the quality of guys in our organization that don't make the top 30 Tate Kuehner, Ethan Dorchies, Jaden Dubaniweicz, Melvin Hernandez, Manny Rodriguez, Ryan Birchard, Jacob Morrison, Sean Epipscope, Josh Flores, Jaron DeBerry, Jason Woodward, KC Hunt, Carlos Rodriguez, among others all would be top 30 prospects on a majority of teams just for pitching. (Missing a bunch of other potential upside arms in that list) Dylan O'Rae, Jose Rodriguez, Juan Ortuno, Handlefry Encarnacion, Matt Wood, Ricky Moneys, Fenelon, Antunez, Frias, Boeve, Black would be top 30 potential bats again among others. I would guess we have like 75ish players in the stystem that I would say could be quality mlb players if they develop well and aren't majorly blocked.
  7. I wrote something "based off" Jones for one of the young starters nothing about straight up. Also the would need to be OF issues before I would consider that option.
  8. Thoughts on Hunter Deitz a lefty from Arkansas. He only pitched 1 2/3 innings his 1st 2 years total, and wasn't good in the Cape (walks) however he is 6'6" with a big fastball and comes really over the top. There seems to be alot of advanced stat style qualities our org values here. He is ranked 37 by mlb.com and currently has 15 k/9, 3 starts in (better control than in Cape Cod). We haven't taken a college pitcher in the 1st in a while but he seems like the upside we like and would likely save us a bunch underslot. I also like Tre Broussard an OF from Houston as a college player who would save some money and possesses some of the skills we covet. He is more of a speed 1st OF but he walks about as much as he strikes out and I believe there could be a little more power potential left. On the pitching end Joseph Contreras and Savion Sims are interesting arms that come from baseball families (Sims is related to Doc Gooden) both are ranked 47 and 51 respectively but have traits that could make them higher picks I like OF AJ Gracia (57 bb/37 k in 2025), C Will Brick as guys who wouldn't be the lower ranked slot saving style picks. Gracia does everything well and has a very advanced approach and Brick will likely be a great defensive catcher with the qualities to be a good hitter.
  9. I would be good with Kopech, our staff would be great for him. I doubt he would make the club out of camp but I am sure by May there will be the need for some innings and he has a high ceiling with that cannon.
  10. What I think they will do 1)Turang 2)Chourio 3)Yeli 4)Contreras 5)Vaughn 6)Sal 7)Rengifo/Hamilton 8)Mitchell/Perk 9)Ortiz What I would like 1)Sal 2)Chourio 3) Yeli 4)Turang 5)Contreras 6)Vaughn 7)Mitchell/Perk 8)Ortiz 9)Rengifo/Hamilton
  11. With 3 potentially weak lineup spots (0rtiz, Rengifo/Hamilton, and Perk/Mitchell) this mindset will be really put to the test, at least early. I love the mental toughness and grind that our hitters have for sure. The top 6 in this lineup have a chance to be one of the best lineups in the league so hopefully we continue where the path of the last 3/4 months of the year.
  12. Any chance we would trade Bauers and keep Black if he stays hot most of spring? After the way Bauers finished last year I would say it is unlikely but Black could be more useful thank Bauers especially if he can still play a little CF.
  13. I like Spencer Jones a bunch as well but I don't think the Yanks would sell cheap on him. Every time you hear a Yankee fan mention him he is looked at as the second coming of Judge. The big strikeout numbers don't worry me a ton because of the power, speed, and other intangibles being solid. With Judge, Grisham, Bellinger, Dominguez, and Jones they clearly could trade someone. However they can leave Jones in AAA for a bit until Stanton gets injured and then they would likely have playing time to spread out especially if Bellinger is needed at 1st base occasionally (Rice/Goldy is solid). I though that earlier in the offseason a Megill for Jones/Dominguez and a pitching prospect would have made a lot of sense but maybe something could get worked out early in the year with some of our starting depth. If the Yanks have an injury or 2 to there starters and ours stay healthy and CF has issues something based on Jones for 1 of Henderson/Harrison/Sproat/Patrick could work.
  14. I know he his still listed at 170 but looks bigger, would anyone care to guess what his playing weight is and how much filling out he still needs to do? If he is throwing 95-98 like it has been noted early in camp he becomes an easy candidate for top 100 lists once he can stay healthy. I expect the team to really baby his workload easy in the year and focus on his health. Hopefully guys like Dorchies, Dubaniewicz, Renz, and Tobias (amoing others) can follow his path in development because we have a ton of potential Bishops a year or two behind him.
  15. Does he start in AA? I am sure the plan was that if he had a full AFL that AA would have been a no brainer, If I was in charge I would put him in Biloxi but could see a world where they want him to start strong for a few weeks and get Matt Wood a little run in AA before moving both up a level. and having a roster position overload in AAA with Quero, McGuire, and Wood potentially (Damien Miller in the AA/AAA mix as well).
  16. Clearly the bat and defensive upside are there but if he dosen't put it together defensively as he climbs the ladder and the bat is still solid what position would he transition to 1B or corner outfield? It is possible with some of his injury issued that he might struggle just with health if he stays an everyday catcher. That being said I would think he should get all the runway to be a catcher with the arm and as you pointed out the added value of having a catcher who could be a middle of the order bat.
  17. What about Anthony Richardson as a backup? He is pretty similar to Willis and could use a stable environment.
  18. KPJ and Rollins seem to be really gelling, how much would it take to extend Porter, 20??? I do think with those 2 playing at a high level Doc needs to sit AJ Green more, especially when Giannis is back. I would just rotated those 2 and Thomas through the 2 guard spots with Giannis, Kuz, Dieng, Bobby, Turner, and Sims/Nance at the 3-5. Green is fine but doesn't really provide anything that the other guys cant do. Yes he is our best shooter but right now offense isn't a concern. Big stretch with home tonight vs. Cleveland, home vs. Knicks. @chicago and home vs. Boston. I would guess Giannis is out at least this week but if we can take 2 or 3 of those games I will be over the moon. The schedule gets easy for a couple weeks after that when Giannis is hopefully back. Still 2 behind ATL and 1.5 behind Charlotte.
  19. I think the worse case scenerio is that a couple of our right handed relievers get hurt and we end up way too left handed and Murph gets his hands tied into bad matchups. Best case everyone stays healthy and Craig Yoho breaks through providing a 3rd lethal late inning arm. Basically just continue what they did the past 2 years or so.
  20. Crazy group of hitters. For me Lara, Adams, Josh A, and Burke are all like 1 really strong month away from getting top 100 prospect consideration and having them 11-14 is awesome.
  21. This is definitely worrisome because he has had the entire offseason to get right. That being said it isn't a big deal if he takes his time to ramp up and get up to speed, we have enough depth. However for us to truly be a contender we really need him to be a frontline starter who can go toe to toe with Yamamoto, Ohtani, Snell, and Glasnow. If he is already behind the eight ball staying healthy all year is going to be tough.
  22. I feel confident between Rengifo, Hamilton, and Jett (maybe Wilken at some point) that we will get production at or better than last year. As a team we ended up with a 0.2 WAR at 3B (by baseball-refernce). It might take a month like last year but those are 3 solid athletes all with realizable upside and good options to platoon and play to strengths.
  23. I saw a tweet (sorry couldn't find it) that Letson's last pitch yesterday was a 97.7 mph fastball. That is extremely promising.
  24. That was kind of my thinking, neither have a ton of value so maybe with our depth and other teams impending injuries that we could get someone to overpay for our extra controllable depth.
  25. I think this draft will depend a lot on what the DSL and rookie ball looks like this year. We have incredible depth through A ball but lasts years rough DSL rosters do make a potential bubble in the lowest levels. If those teams look good I would think we kind of continue the path but if those teams struggle we might need to find more college bats (later in the draft) than normal to supplement a-ball in 2027.
