To trade for Kuminga we would need to send out Kuzma and possibly more money. I don't see why Golden State would do that when they could just re-sign Kuminga instead. If Bradley Beal get cut lose he would be a great target. Possibly then trade Kuzma for a point guard I think Marcus Smart for Kuzma woudl financially work but we would probably need a third team because Washington probably doesn't want Kuz back.

Thanks, for this. I think it will be interesting to see what picks we use to try and save money. I doubt we "reach" as far down in the rankings in the 1st like last year. I would think one of the 1st 2 picks we will look to save big money and 68 the Levonas pick that we lose if we don't sign the pick. It would be really nice to find a guy like Wilken in the 1st who is a high end prospect and will to sign well under slot to help the team. It would be nice if the draft was a couple weeks earlier, I think the CWS ended June 23 so really like July 1st makes more sense to me. The reason being that rookie ball ends later in July (not sure date) but it doesn't give new signees really any time to get in games in rookie ball. Obviously some of the college draft picks can go to A-ball.

Other SS that we could overpay for.
jay87shot replied to BrewersRice's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I would think Abrams would be possible after they fired there coach and gm. I doubt any of the others would be moved. I think the values of some of the prospects is a bit off. For me Ortiz should have like a 10 value, I get he has a negative WAR this year but is coming around offensively and I really haven't seen a reason for the negative fielding value. I think the package would be something like Ortiz, Pratt, Henderson, and Wichrowski. I am sure there are lots of substitutions or additions that would work still maybe change Ortiz for a 3rd base prospect (preferably not Bitonti), or like you mentioned Patrick instead of Henderson or Myers or CarRod for Wichrowski swap, if you wanted to throwing Perkins that probably could work. That would be pretty close to what Boston gave up for Crochet (I now Abrams has more control). I would worry about how Abrams would fit with the team, he was suspended at the end of last year for staying out until like 3 o'clock gambling or something the night before a noon game. My guess is that isnt the first time that happened to get suspended. He does seem like a pretty good teammate other than that though. -
I would love that but I think that is high, we almost gave Civale away (I know Vaughn has been good for 2 games) and he had 4 solid starts. I would be overjoyed if we could get 1 one those for Nestor.

I am not against trading Q, someone between Q, Woody, and Cortes will need to go or move to the pen. Cortes won't get the starts to have much value and if Woody pitches like his first start we won't want to move him. Q is replaceable with Cortes, Patrick, Henderson, and Myers all capable of replacing him and providing depth. I think your package for Q is a bit high even for an overpay but it is on the right track.

This weekly write-ups have been fire. Great job. It is crazy to think that Kuehner is probably something like 15th or 16th in line to start games in the bigs for us (didnt count it out). I feel like a guy with a sub 3 era and really good k numbers should be a top 30 prospect, just more evidence how stacked our system is. I am not sure how to feel about Payne, obviously he has a lot of time to progress. I kind of thought he would be a contact guy who develops power in a year or two. It seems like the power is way ahead of the contact at this moment. It is also easy to forget how super young he was when drafted (doesn't turn 19 for like a month). I like that he has the ability to make quick changes to he setup and swing, it bodes well for him as a hard working teachable kid. Murray has that feel of utility IF, I think he is a guy in a couple years gets a shot with a different team in the bigs. I like him a lot but the overcrowding is going to make it hard for him to get a shot with us.

With Rhys out the next month the deadline plans become even more tricky. We really need a power bat in my opinion but with Rhys due back we would want there to be a spot for everyone in August and hopefully the playoffs. After Woody's performance today we clearly have the most pitching depth in the league, with Myers, Henderson, Patrick, Cortes, and if you count Gasser or CarRod that would probably be a top 20ish rotation in the league. With maybe a need to support 3B, SS, 1B, and LF there could be many options. EugenioSuarez is probably the obvious answer at this point he can help at 3B, probably play some 1B and DH some if Yeli plays more LF. Wilyer Abreu or Jarren Duran could be interesting players as well. Ryan O'Hearn would fit pretty well also because he can play 1st/OF as well. Chad Patrick, Rhys Hoskins, and Cooper Pratt for Wilyer Abreu and Aroldis Chapman Eugenio Suarez for Brett Wichrowski, Juan Baez, and Nestor Cortes (can be flipped if dbacks want. Then next offseason get the best higher level SS prospect for Pratt. I would hate to give up Pratt however.

Josh Jung Optioned to AAA
jay87shot replied to Scooterfletcher's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Jung seems to be on the decline and Hall is rising. I wouldn't hate that deal but would want a 2nd piece sweetener. -
I don't think we necessarily need a Senior at 68. It kind of depends on how much money the team needs to save or possible if there are still a lot of HS talent that is sliding and we want to rake them later. At 68, we should still target a decent college prospect unless we over reached a bit early and got a HS stud at Comp or 2nd. I am thinking we should go after a guy kind of like Boeve, a slight risk but an almost certainty to sign decently under slot.

I feel like if Seigler has a nice week or so that it would make it easier to give Contreras the need IL stint over the allstar break. I doubt McGee doesn't stay longer then a few days for when Woody comes back. I wouldn't mind going to a 6 man for a couple passes until we get a better picture of Woody. Perkins for Mone in a week or two then would make sense as well.

Hardin has really been a mirror image of KC Hunt last year. Hopefully we can get Hint back on track and keep Hardin going. I do think that he is starting to jump all of the AA starters in terms of prospect status even though Wichrowski and Kuehner have been solid. I am not as high on Hedbert as the rest of you. Outside of the power I just don't see his skills working out well. At 5'10", he packs a wallop but I doubt he gets more consistent. He isn't fast and is hitting .233 (career .229). I am not opposed to bringing him back next year but I just don't see him developing into anything more than a 4th OF (Jake Bauers minus 1st base ability). I love our 2024 (and 23) HS picks. I think all of Dubanewicz, Renz, Dorchies, Tobias,Hayden Robinson, and Bjorn Johnson (probably forgetting someone) all are finding some consistency and doing a good job of setting themselves up for big offseason. If they can add a mph or two, sharpen up braking balls they all could be big prospect risers next year like Letson.

I do think there will be one of those IF prospects that will move to the OF. Maybe for 2027 though it really depends on how fast they move and if Durbin and Ortiz become long term every day pieces.

Pretty sure Spencer is a Senior and wouldn't be able to go back so that is why we could go way below slot (with no combine to maintain 75%). Also with his injury (April shoulder surgery) he might miss the college season next year anyway.

I wouldn't have a problem adding a high end closer however I don't think Dominguez would be it. He has a 3.31 era (3.45 fip) which probably puts him like him in our 7/8 inning role at best. He also wasn't great the past 2 years (solid not great). I do think we have better internal options 1)Ashby. In this case Woody would go the rotation, Patrick to long man, Ashby to 8/9 role depending on lineup 2) Misi. Misi has about 20 innings to meet last year's innings so basically the team will have to reduce his innings pace at some point. I think the bullpen the last month and playoffs would be the likely spot. You could possibly make the same argument for Logan Henderson here as well. For the record I like the idea of making him a reliever like Hader from his 1st year plus just put him in the biggest spot of the game regardless of inning. 3) Uribe. By making Uribe part time close they can audition him for the role long term and semi reduce the workload (has not had any long seasons because of injuries). Someone like Yoho could the take Uribe's current role. 4) Woody. At this point he is a ways away from being a closer. But we know he has a bulldog mentality and likely could maintain velocity (95+) in shorter bullpen appearances. With the rotation going well he may need to go to the pen anyway. 5) Trade. I think better options include Finnegan, Bednar (iffy), Bautista (much higher price), Estevez (not as much a Baustista but higher), Rasiel Iglesias (if he puts together a good July), Chapman, and maybe a surprise. If we think a reliever can put us over the top we need to get a high quality one.

Crow, Seigler, and EMJ for me. There probably will be quite a lot of 40 man spots with the big group of free agents leaving and other borderline 40 man guys. There are a bunch of guys like Cornielle and Garcia I would like to keep but aren't 40 man guys. No one will take either in the rule 5 or at least keep them all year. Getting vet catching isn't to hard. I would think it would be easy to sign guys like Alfaro and Miller in free agency. It would be nice to keep both (and others) but by no means a must.
-
I like Fitzgerald, he probably ends up as more a utility guy for us. In the half year he play last year, he was on track to be a 25/30 player (not much power this year). Defensively he is pretty good at 2B, was below average at SS, and play an OK OF. I am sure he could play some 3B and 1B if needed. Moving out of SF is also usually an upgrade for bats as well. I doubt SF would sell cheap but I could get behind a Hall for Fitzgerald type deal. Maybe extend it to like Hall and Boeve for Fitzgereld and Bo Davidson.
-
Wow he really has had a rough year. He was a pretty universal top 20 prospect and now he really shouldnt be in any top 100. He doesn't have near the value he did at the beginning of the season. I doubt the O's would give up on him cheap, especially with them likely to trade O'Hearn and maybe Urias. There should be big league everyday playing time for him for the last 2 months. My Mayo offer would be like Boeve, KC Hunt, and maybe a small 3rd piece.
-
I like Ward enough that I wouldn't be opposed to him, I think the problem is that he probably would be the right handed hitting platoon in LF with Collins and/or Perkins. I just don't think he would play a lot, the power would be nice but as a negative defender limited to LF the past couple years the isn't much playing time to make an impact. He would be nice as a late inning pinch hitter but as a barely .200 hitter that is shaky as well.
-
At 45-36 the team seems on the rise. The rotation and bullpen looks solid and deep. Woody, Cortes, and Perkins aren't to far from returning. Ortiz and Durbin have been playing well making the teams potential needs as the trade deadline gets closer much smaller. My only pressing need is to give William Contreras a short IL stint to get his thumb right and bat a supercharge.
-
Meh, I wouldn't trade Black just because his value is so low. I still like him as a 4th OF utility guy. If we could get a solid mlb player (probably on an expiring deal) I would be OK trade but I think his value is too low for that. Burke is a big no right now. I think he will eventually be a top 100 prospect when he gets back to hitting fingers. Trading him now doesn't make sense to me. I think at the very least he is a DH/1B everyday player when Yeli is done. If we could get near top 100 prospect value for Wilken moving him wouldn't be a bad idea. Like someone else said, I'd prefer to trade Boeve. I am not the biggest Quintana fan but he does have a long time to develop so we would again need a good price for him. I think Crow has a good shot at being our next Patrick/Myers style pitcher if not next year maybe in 2. For me it is another player with higher long term value then trade value. The guys I would try and push would be CarRod (when healthy), Kuehner/Cornieller/Hunt maybe Wichrowski at a better return(1 of them), Boeve, Juan Baez (i know very little value), an mlb reliever (Koenig/Hall) and if we need a higher value prospect maybe Braylon Payne (would be for a difference maker not on an expiring).

I think the White Sox did it well with Crochet last year. Get him the 7-8 more normal starts to like 120 and then hit the brakes a bit. Limit him to 50 or so pitches every start after that and steal extra days off when possible. It wouldn't be the worst to make him a reliever the last month or so but I would rather keep him a little stretched out for the playoffs. If managed correctly like 150 innings wouldn't be crazy.
-
To risky, -0.6 WAR, .229/.301/.368, also negative fielding stats with 5 years 75 million left on deal. Even if they just gave him to us for nothing he probably doesn't play ahead of Collins at this point of the year.
