  1. I will add in Curtis Mead and some Blue Jays youth of Addison Barger, Will Wagner, and Orelvis Martinez as guys who aren't off to great starts but could be an option maybe for someone like Blake Perkins when he gets healthy.
  2. Eugenia Suaraz could be an option as well as Jordan Lawlar is bang on the door there. A guy hitting .156 isn't really that attractive but we know he can go on heaters quickly. Money could be an issue. Maybe a guy like Jose Tena from the Nationals could make sense when the bring up Brady House.
  3. Here are some AAA players that could be easier to acquire. Otto Kemp (Phillies) 25 years old, 24th prospect. .275/.372/.600 6 hr this year, hit .285/.392/.489 last year between 4 levels 16 HR 20 SB. Jorbit Vivas (Yanks) 24 years old, #20 prospect. 342/.432/.493, not great last year. More of a 2B bit has some 3B experience. Brett Harris (Oakland) 26 years old .373/.459/.628, solid minor batting stats but wasn't good last year in 100+ abs for the big league team. I will bring Justin Foscue up from Texas as well but I really don't think he can defensively play 3B for a prolonged time. Logan Davidson (Oakland), Abraham Toro (Red Sox), David Villar (San Fran) these guys are all 28 and likely only short term options.
  4. We have a roster crunch coming with Myers and Woody getting close along side Yoho needing a spot. Trade Payamps for a ptbnl, maybe something like if he makes over 20 appearances it is player a (lotto style prospect) if under it is player b (non prospect). I like Ramon Urias a lot as a trade option. I would try and do like Tyler Alexander and Oliver Dunn/Elvis Peguero The CarRod package would be more interesting to the O's but I am still counting on him for next year. Alexander gives them quality innings and Dunn/Peguero gives them some youth/control value. It would open up roster space for some of our guys as well. Edmunds Sosa would be a better option than Bohm at this point. He probably has a similar value to Urias but the Phillies would be less likely to trade him.
  5. Ashby has thrown some bullpen and sounds close to some rehab. I would think Civale or Nestor might be better candidates for the 60 day dl at this point. I have heard any updates on either. I think we 60 day DL Civale (would be May 31 return I believe) for Yoho 40 man. Than trade Payamps ptbnl or phantom IL. For Yoho spot. Myers for Hudson would be fine if nothing changes. Woody for Henderson Ashby for ???? I would be a nice time to trade a couple arms for a 3B if Durbin doesn't take off. I will think of a couple ideas for the transaction ideas thread.
  6. Good lord do I love this farm system. Add Bjorn and Holobetz to the ever grow list of list of players deserving top 30 recognition potentially, we are probably at like 50 guys on that.
  7. I like Levering, he's nerdy but the chemistry when with Vinny or Dillard is good. A little to corny at times but it seems like they are genuinely having a nice time.
  8. If Payne is hitting 110 ev's what do we think a new power rating will be, 55? I thought when we drafted him there was 20+ HR potential because of the frame. However I didn't think he would get to the power until 20 yo, if he hit 5 HR this year I would have been thrilled at this point he looks like a good bet to get close to 15.
  9. To a point I agree. The issue is how long can we wait. Myers will need a roster spot in a couple day with Woody close after (hopefully). Ashby is starting to get close and of course Yoho on deck. Maybe he gets another week to right the ship but time is ticking just based on roster space. It might be a perfect time for him to have some arm inflammation or something.
  10. Good-bye Payamps, thanks for the good 2 years. Maybe a desperate team will give us a PTBNL for him.
  11. Wow, to bad the big league roster doesn't need OF help. Good to see though, the depth just keep getting more impressive. I don't think to many people had a problem with Payne himself. For me it was a strategy worry. I thought we should have taken Payne with the comp. pick since he was like the #60 prospect and it was unlikely he would have been taken in the next 10 picks or so.
  12. Thier lineup is solid no doubt but I can't see Carson Kelly, Busch, and Susuki hitting like the have all year. Busch and Susaki are good but not .900 ops+ guys. With Steele out, the rotation after Imagana isn't great (not afraid of Boyd or Rea). Also there pen isn't good, Pressley has 6 bb and 4 k's with a 5.33 FIP (some blown save are on the way).
  13. Offense=B-. With Yeli, William, and Hoskins showing signs of getting it going this offense is potentially looking deadly especially if Durbin can solidify 3B after a solid debut. Defense= C-, at the beginning of the year I thought almost every position other than 3B and 1B had a chance to win a gold glove. We haven't been awful but rank 12th according to fieldingbible which is disappointing with the talent we have. Rotation=A+, The telecast tonight said we rank 1st with a 2.13 era in April amongst starters. With the injuries sustained it is surprising our rotation isn't getting more national attention. Bullpen=B, Every year it seems to take a quarter of the year to kind of weed through the bullpen. This year with some of the injuries to the rotation I will give the pen a little break. Uribe and Keonig have been great, Megill and Hudson ok. With Mears and Anderson showing some potential. If we don't count Payamps and Thomas the pen might be and A-. Coaching=A-, I don't have to many issues with how Murphy has run the team. With the pitching injuries 11-9 is solid. Front Office=B, The good, putting together a solid rotation with the 7 or 8 guys who have missed time. The bad, how long it took to give Durbin a chance and why isn't Yoho in the bigs??? With the Priester looking better every start I will side on the better than average grade. Minor Leagues= Carolina gets an A++, the rest of the minors like a C+. Probably like an A- for pitching and C- for batting. Some offense of problems early on linger in my mind but early on the pitching is usually ahead of the offense. Also no Quero, Boeve, Wichrowski, O'Rae, amongst other kind of hurts. MVP= Freddy Peralta, He has been spectacular. Turang, Sal, and Chourio have carried the offense but we are where we are because of the rotation. Biggest Surprise= Chad Patrick, I shouldn't be to surprised but if you asked me before the season started I probably would have had him 10th or 11th on the rotation depth chart. As of this instant (thru 5 innings) he has been spectacular. Biggest Dissapointment= Injuries, 3rd base has been a hole, but most of us were at least semi prepared for that. Yeli, Contreras, and Hoskins through 10 or so games were really bad but have righted the ship it appears. Yoho is a week or so past due a promotion but I can live with that for a week or so before I am truly upset by that. The injuries to the rotation are truly worrisome long term.
  14. With 20 games in the books I thought it might be interesting to see thoughts on where the team is. Offense, Defense, Rotation, Bullpen, Coaching, Front Office, Minor Leagues, MVP, Biggest Surprise, Biggest Dissapointment, others
  15. Freddy did ok with just a fastball basically his rookie year. I would just think with the 2 pitches you limit him to only going through a lineup twice and have a multi-inning reliever ready.
  16. Bjorn Johnson reminds me alot of Gasser from what I can remember (it's been a while). Any chance we see any of the Carolina IF start to get some OF work. It stinks that one of themselves sits out every game. Maybe try Pena/Made a bit in CF? I am not saying full time but sneak a game in here or there just so these top guys don't have to sit a game a week. I am not sure who sets it up but I feel like we should have a re-rank on prospects soon. I am super excited to see what thoughts are.
  17. Any chance we would be interested in Jose Miranda, the Twins sent him down so my guess is that his price wouldn't be high. He is kind of like Baty in the fact that he has had a bad start to the year. However last year he was decent, at the plate last year and he hasn't realized any power however. Defensively he isn't great at 3rd but better at 1st. For like Peguero, I would be ok with that move.
  18. As much as I would like to see EMJ in Milwaukee, if he takes Bauers spot there really isn't much playing time. If Rhys, Yeli, or an OF'er get hurt that would be different. It is Durbin time. Any eta on Mike Boeve in AAA?
  19. It's great to see Coleman Crow back. That Hardin heater looks really good, dire I saw Wichrowski-esce.
  20. That's just baseball sometimes. I think it is Yoho time however, swap Yoho for ERod or Grant Anderson and Durbin for Capra. Yoho can take Capra's 40 man. If we can stay at or above .500 with our pitching injuries that will suffice. Getting back Myers and Woody soon will help and Ashby and Nestor shouldn't be far behind (haven't heard a time line on the Civale setback).
  21. Baty hasn't played well enough, my offer would be something like Peguero and Clarke/Capra like scooterfletcher mentioned. He would have to go to AAA and earn 3B while Durbin would get some run.
  22. Luis Pena has 7 sb in 6 games, as well as a 6 bb to 1 k ratio. He is always on base multiple times per game it seems. Where are guesses on how many steal he ends up with, I am going to say 84. Even though he doesn't have the power potential he is creeping up that prospect rankings fast. I think Payne, Bitonti, and he are a couple good weeks away from top 100 status. Adamechezcki maybe by mid-season if he keeps tearing it up as well.
  23. I think the Ray's could be an option they have Curtis Mead, Jose Caballero, and Coco Montes as utility style players and could potential use a bullpen piece. They also have some decent AAA IF depth Maybe we could get a AAA player who is playing well. Getting Cam Devanney back would be interesting and probably not to costly.
  24. yep sorry, meant TJ Watt. JJ is just a pipe dream of past missed opportunities and maybe a chance to convince him to play for us if TJ was on the team. Heck we could probably hire Derek as an assistant RB coach or something.
