  1. It's impressive that we are able to sign HS guys and upside JC players as UDFA. On top of what looks like could be a deep class of HS arms with 4/5 HS pitchers drafted already committed to sign.
  2. Any thoughts on going against conventional wisdom and trading for a young starter like MacKenzie Gore? I kind of like the idea if he doesn't cost to much. If you think we are likely to trade Peralta this offseason Gore would offset that loss. He has gotten better each year and with our IF could take another step. Gore, Peralta, Misi, Woody, Priester make the best rotation in the league for a playoff run. Trade Quintana for a prospect or 2. Keep Gore through 2026 and trade him before his last year to recoup value. Henderson, Patrick/DL Hall, Wilken/Boeve/Adams, and Jadher/Josh A for Gore
  3. He is hitting over .300 with a near .400 obp. He does have 20 2B, if I remember correctly his exit velo has been fine just not lifting the ball. He can still work on that in AA. The strikeouts are a little high averaging 1 per game but not aggregish. Lots of good things from yesterday, get Gasser back, Payne staying hot (Made/Pena multi hit), Kuehner and ManRod's great starts, and others.
  4. Any chance that we could try for Byron Buxton? It would be super risky but his contract is pretty reasonable for a star. The Twins could trade him just because of past injuries. Patrick, Collins, Brock Wilken for Buxton and a couple million a year. We give up 2 blocked-ish players and the Twins get 2 young controllable starters and an solid prospects. We could platoon Buxton and Yeli in LF to reduce injury risk. It would give us a the perfect 2 or 4 hitter.
  5. I don't hate Rice for Myers and a smaller piece. Patrick for Rice and a smaller 2nd piece is bad either. However I like Adams, Burke, or Bitonti long term.
  6. I think those btv's values are a little low. Ramirez would still be a bit high, maybe Ketel Marte and a prospect might be close (Dbacks eat some salary). A young guy like James Wood would be interesting but Nats wouldn't do. Jeremy Pena would be interesting if he had more control. Jacob Wilson would be maybe my top theoretical option.
  7. That price is was to high. Lopez is having a nice year and was OK last year but he was an outright waivers claim in 2023. Lopez for Wichrowski and that 40 FV prospect (say Jadher Arienamo) would likely be more than enough and I am not a huge fan of that.
  8. In Contreras last ab, the Dodgers announcers said his deep foul ball was 116 mph of the bat. Was that correct or did I hear wrong? If so that might be the best omen from last night. I wouldn't trade Priester, he is trending towards a pitcher in the style of Logan Webb, lots of value in a grond ball pitcher with a top notch defense.
  9. I proposed something a couple weeks ago that I still like a lot. So do the 5/32 or whatever and then have a team option for 3/60 with like a 8 million buyout. Then add that he makes like 3 million a year more for every top 5 cy young finish. You could add on more for other accolades or statistical bench marks.
  10. This is probably my favorite pick from the draft. His size makes his upside tantalizing and with the CWS run the is a gamer/bulldog in there. With how well college pitchers have failed in our system he has more upside than any college arms we've drafted since Burnes/Woodruff.
  11. I think there are some shades of JJ Hardy here. When we drafted him there wasn't much speed or power but he developed well. Ebel is a little bigger so maybe more power and less likely to stay at SS (announced as SS). Someone said maybe Corey Seager upside which I could see if things go perfectly.
  12. He kind of has some lefty Freddy Peralta look to that delivery. I doubt he gets as much extension and adds 3-4 mph to get to where Freddy is at. However I wouldn't put anything past our pitching department.
  13. Can you add Ethan Dorchies.
  14. Agreed, it's not like there is anyone at 2B/SS/3B in AAA that is holding him back either.
  15. I don't think Carione will sign that much over. I feel like we wouldn't have gone HS there unless we had a guaranteed number that was lower. I kind of think like slot would be good there. On the flip side Vucinovich probably get over 500k as a HS school guy. In general though I agree with most of your accounting in principle.
  16. I think Fischer goes to Appleton after a few Arizona games if he signs soon enough. Ebel and maybe Coraine maybe follows Payne and could get a few games in Carolina. Thompson maybe just pitches a 5-10 innings in 1-2 innings stretches but could get to Appleton. Raigsdale should probably start in the OF for Carolina the rest of the year, Dickenson as well especially if there are IF promotions. Morrison to Carolina for a few innings would be fine, not sure how many innings and overworked he was from the CWS. I would guess the resto of the HS guys just stay in AZ. Maybe the other college arms throw a couple innings in Carolina.
  17. That makes a lot of sense we should have a majority of the draft signed then and probably a couple Arizona guys moving then as well.
  18. All of these guys sound intrueging 11-20. I think we should have 1.5-2 million extra with the 5% over. I would guess that we get Coil and at least 3 maybe 4 of the 11-20 HS guys. I am super interested in Brock, he will be 21 in a couple weeks so he really is a Junior. I guess he will be still 21 at next years draft but basically will be senior age. I would think anything over 400k (5th round money) should do it hopefully.
  19. We could go like last year and draft like 7/8 unknown HS guys and hope to sign 5 or we could draft a couple bigger name guys and hope to draft 1 or 2. The DSL teams don't seem great this year so I would prefer to draft and sign as many HS players as possible. Hopefully a couple position players in that group.
  20. Wow he looks really good for a 7th round pick. Mid 90's, 6'6" 200 means there is probably room to grow.
  21. I forgot about the minors games with all the excitement of the draft. Should we expect any promotions over the break? It would seem like a good time to do it especially if we can sign some draft picks in the 1st week or so after the draft.
  22. Love this Ragsdale pick, atthe very least high end organizational guy if he can reduce strikeouts a bit some Frelick upside.
  23. Flores seems a lot like McCage minus some control. Seems like a boom or bust pick with potential for high 90's stuff. Episcope I agree has lot of Woordword feel to it. With his surgery will he be available to pitch at some point next year. Dickenson seems like a great value, high walk rates. Solid probably 50 tools all around. He is someone who could move fast if not to blocked. My guess is Flores and Dickenson are both overslot but not alot. Episcopal probably quite a bit below. I love that it seems we are taking what seems like very smart players to those point.
  24. I am hoping for Jack Bauer today, I am sure it will be hard to afford him though. After that I would like to see a couple of college OF'ers and cheap college arms 4-10. Than as many upside HS and maybe a few college guys who fell through the cracks 11-20.
