  1. I'm on board with replay but I already think it's going to be too much. If they get it right, they get it back? Think about how many plays in baseball are bang/bang. The games are already plenty long enough, throw in challenges and replays and you could legitimately add 5-10 minutes or more to each game, depending on how long a replay challenge actually takes - and it could take awhile as in a play like tonight, not only do they have to review the call, but where the runners might have been. That's going to take time. IMO, each team should get ONE challenge per game, period. Any run scoring plays or game ending plays should be subject to some sort of auto review, much like the NFL is handled. The games are just too long and this is going to make it way worse. Just my take.
  2. Nobody is saying Gomez isn't at fault to some degree here. But what I (and I think most of us) don't understand is how McCann gets of scott free, both from MLB and from the press. It was his actions and his actions alone that started the phyiscal nature of the whole situation. Yelling is one thing, but to physically block the plate on a HR is simply not acceptable, I don't care what the situation is. Drill the next guy, drill Gomez next time up, whatever. But just becuase you're the catcher doesn't give you the right to act like a donkey on the field. Especially considering that he did almost the exact same thing to the Marlins just a couple of weeks ago. Gomez started it with the admiring the HR, but McCann is at complete fault for the fighting that ensued afterwards IMO. I can't understand how umpires and MLB can watch what McCann did and not do anything about it. Again.
  3. Apparently for MLB, it's ok to block the path of a runner on a homerun trot. It's also ok to start not one, but two bench clearing brawls in the span of 2 weeks because you don't like your pitchers being shown up. I'm fine with the suspensions, but McCann's actions are simply not appropriate. He was more at fault to the brawl than Gomez IMO. If McCann isn't standing there, Gomez probably just goes to the dugout. What did the umpires/MLB think McCann was doing there if not to start a confrontation? Now that I've thought about it, I wish Gomez would have just bowled him over.
  4. I can't understand how/why McCann gets away with that. He did virtually the same thing against Miami two weeks ago. This time, not only was he barking at Gomez, he physically stood in the baseline and started the whole physical part of it. There is absolutely no reason for him to be standing there other than to start a fight. He did more than Gomez by far and gets to remain in the game, and as mentioned, this is basically the second time he's done that. Makes no sense. And why Reed Johnson would basically snap like he did was just silly. He basically sucker punched Gomez.
  5. Corey Hart has made it no secret in the past that he really likes playing here and wants to play his entire career in Milwaukee. So I do take him at his word that he will take a significantly reduced salary, whatever that might be. Considering our other options at 1B, I don't see any harm in bringing him back, if healthy.
  6. We could platoon him and Weeks next year in a strict lefty/righty split. If not Weeks, almost all utility guys are right, so it shouldn't be that hard to do and gradually let Scooter get some AB's against lefties to see if he gets any better.
  7. I hope the young guys develop, particularily Henson and Sanders, but I hope they lose every game they play. This team is not close to a winner and next year's draft class is loaded. The higher the pick the better, even if it means this season is awful. I hope at least.
  8. I hate that in theory, we just helped the Cardinals. He's been bad lately, but he'll drink the magic juice there and become awesome. We likely weren't bringing him back next year anyways, so it's nice to get something for him I guess. Any guesses on the PTBNL?
  9. I dunno why but Carlos Gomez seems like a perfect Kermit to me.
  10. If they believe that, I guess that's their perogative (I disagree), but they still should move someone like Gonzalez. He's a FA after this year, and if he can bring back even an average a ball prospect, they should do it. Having this season won't mean a thing anyways.
  11. Say what you want about the TWO errors and a PB in the inning, but pitching to Dejesus there with 1 out and 1b open was just another typical RR move that makes it harder for us to win games. Walk him to load the bases, setup the double play, the force at home, etc. Especially when the guy on deck has shown to be a somewhat free swinger. His refusal to ever intentionally walk people is just stupid.
  12. not sure how it helps the brewers. one more trade partner down added with downs getting traded. the astros got a top prospect too. As relievers fall off of the market it may be harder to get value market value as there are fewer and fewer trade partners. It helps because the demand for middle relief pitchers is still pretty strong - as in, multiple teams are still seeking them. While the supply is now smaller. Hence, the asking price just went up a little bit. Teams have to now react to what other teams have done. As long as there are still multiple teams looking for relief help (and there are), the cost should continue to rise. As others have stated, this can be especially true if we can get team division teams to compete against each other. I also think that Axford, with his past closers experience (and success) could fetch a lot more than someone like Veras.
  13. I liked Detroit as a trade partner, but this helps the Brewers. One more relief pitcher off the market, should help up the price for the 2-3 we have left to trade.
  14. So I guess he's been lying the whole time. That sure makes it seem that much worse. Thinking back to that press conference....just wow. Sure makes it hard to cheer for him any more. Really too bad.
  15. I can't see how they can possibly make the playoffs with the present roster. But they probably won't be as bad as I want....so stuck in the middle some more.
  16. Can MLB even use his prior test in this case? The arbitrator ruled his sample wasn't handled properly, making that entire test invalid - I take that to mean it never happened and can't/shouldn't be used against him in any other cases going forward.
  17. We don't know what they've gotten behind close doors that hasn't been leaked yet, but none of the evidence that is public knowledge could be considered "overwelming" or even convincing IMO. My guess is he's referring to A-Rod here, as he seems to have the most against him, including maybe trying to buy documents.
  18. Marshall is the exact opposite of Jennings in that he actually looks to pass first. I'd love to get him but I don't know what they'd be asking for. Think 17 second round picks would do it?
  19. I was at that game, without looking at the roster, I remember Bill Hall and Corey Hart were the Brewers players. I believe Brandon Phillips was there and I'm pretty positive of Jose Reyes....I got a lot of autographs, too bad I can't find any of them. Whoops.
  20. I don't see how Braun accepts any deal. He has no choice at this point but to fight this thing to the death IMO. He can't honestly believe they could somehow suspend him for life. Anything less than that he has to fight - the evidence (at least the stuff we know about) is shady at best. And like I stated earlier, teams just don't abuse the bereavement list, nor do I think MLB would let him go on there so he can do some sort of secret negotiations with them, that seems like something out of a movie or something. That's my take on it at least.
  21. Why would he have to go on some sort of secret leave to discuss a plea of some kind? He has lawyers for that sort of thing. Or there is ample time during the all star break if they really wanted to meet in person. The bereavement list isn't something players can just go on for the hell of it, there has to be a documented reason for it. Otherwise teams would try to use it all the time just to get a different player on the roster for a day or two. Now, because Braun's situation has remained private (which he has a right, and it doesn't sound like it was a death), I'm to believe that it's some sort of cover up and that he's really secretly negotiating with MLB? For Braun to accept any sort of suspension, without an email, he's going to make himself look very foolish. Think about his press conference last year, how can he possibly now come out and say he did it? He can't, he has to fight it. They can say lifetime ban all they want, but the fact is, they'd have to get not one, not two, but three different penalties to stand up through an appeal. On top of that, it would be unprecendented to just skip the first two suspensions. I can't imagine the players union would sit quietly by, and I'm sure lawsuits would follow. I think it's purely a scare tactic by MLB at this point, as they know they have very little and are trying to scare the players into thinking they have way, way more than they do.
  22. There are tons of good drinks with juice, but those usually give the appearance that you aren't going for (fruity). Here's a few without juice that aren't too bad. I didn't read the entire thread, so I apologize if you said you don't like some of these things. These are all very easy drinks that any bar can make. Vodka tonic with a lime Vodka and redbull Blood Mary Martinis Long Island Ice Teas (this has about one ounce of coke in it) Whiskey and Iced Tea Whiskey/Bourbon and water Old Fashion (this is only really known in WI though from what I've discovered) Mojito White Russian Hopefully one or two of those work for you. If not, I can probably come up with more.
  23. It'll help to move up in the draft, but late first round picks don't mean much either. It's the lotto picks that everyone wants next year. We're not going to be great, but we won't be bad enough for a top five pick.
  24. I was talking about this with a friend tonight and let's say that Braun is telling the truth and that he really did just simply use this guy for legal help. Let's also say that everything about his first test was confidential. What would the reaction be right now? Would it all come out that he failed a test last season? Or does that help him in that he can use that as an excuse (true or not)? I can't imagine the backlash right now if it all came out in one fell swoop that he failed a test (and won) and that he's also on this Bosch list. As far as dropping Braun a few pages, it depends how much you want to believe? It's proven that his sample sat around for days and that supposedly he could reproduce the results (Will Carrol article). It's also possible he used Bosch for legal help (and thus why his amount was like 20k not 1500). Is it all coincidences that it was all public? Bad luck? He's really using? Who knows...when literally everything is circumstanial and whatnot, makes everyone decide for themselves.
  25. It would sure seem to me that they're doing it on purpose because they don't think there is any chance suspensions will occur and/or be upheld. They have very little but they want to win the PR battle by leaking as much as possible. Real classy MLB. Again.
