  1. Avina is definitely one I will keep an eye on next season. He needs to cut the K rate, but his raw power is impressive. I really liked Areinamo as well, he has shown some good plate discipline and contact skills plus plays pretty good D. Luis Castillo was another prospect I liked and would consider in this group, I think he was ultimately promoted to A ball as well. He was pretty similar to Areinamo with a bit more power as I recall.

  3. Glass blocks became popular in the 40s. That little window appears to be an attic window with a vent made for non climate controlled part of the home. I would guess the builder was looking for a creative way to vent the bathroom as one cannot open a glass brick window
  4. Looked like Bell got distracted by the defenders arm but could have caught that. Wonder how much we see of Burkett in the second half?
  5. Ugh. Now it appears Jack Nelson will not play tonight. UW down two O linemen along with two starters in the secondary.
  6. Nolan Winter committed to the 2023 class which should close the book on that class. Nice looking player. Good size, skill. Jon Leuer is a comp given for him. Overall a decent class with Blackwell and Yalden and another good looking PWO Janicki
  7. 19 points seems like a lot. Been a while since this program has had a really big win against a top tier team. OSU offense scares me against our under-manned secondary but if they can keep it close, who knows?
  8. The second half, last 90 days, he has .858 OPS and has hit for more power. He is still progressing. I think he is a good platoon candidate once he makes it to the major leagues given his history.
  9. Another head-scratching move in a series of head-scratching FO moves the second half of the season
  10. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for Frelick having a HOF career
  11. I think there is still some hope for him. He lacks the plus velocity so he probably needs to work on cut or sink action for movement. And he needs a reliable third pitch if he is going to stick as a starter
  12. Yeah. Maybe they didn’t want him taking another HBP in that last AB
  13. That sounds like a mechanics or release point issue which can be very correctable with a young guy
  14. Based on the few games I saw of him this year I would say “it” equals confidence. He just seems to dig in at the plate and expects to get a hit no matter who he’s facing. Another comp I’ve seen posted here a few times is Benitendi
  15. Good to know. I only saw him once in Biloxi and thought he got a lot of hitters to chase his slider. He is now dealing with more experienced hitters who are probably less likely to chase out of the zone in AAA and needs to learn how to put them away. I think he will be good
  16. I pretty much agree with this. I like Wong, but Turang is likely ready to contribute next year. Turang's Nashville numbers are deflated some by a two month stretch (May and June) where he was struggling. Since then, his numbers are pretty impressive. His July OPS was around .975, August was .855, September is a little lower but he has maintained a good OBP. Perhaps the $8M saving could go to helping other areas like RP. It will be interesting to see what they do with the outfielders next year. They all have pretty much made the case they are MLB ready with their AAA production.
  17. Gasser's season numbers are impressive. He still has a 10 K/9 innings ratio going at Nashville. Now just cut down on the walks...
  18. Another reason to get Frelick to MKE to see if he can help the Crew make the playoffs
  19. I mean, why not? With Philly playing mediocre ball they still have a chance at the playoffs. At this point there is no way he gets enough ABs to jeopardize his rookie status for next year right? He is also a huge upgrade defensively in LF and his approach at the plate makes him much less likely to struggle as Mitchell has to this point. Even if he doesn’t hit a ton he will get on base at a decent clip IMO
  20. Anyone have data on how good Adames has been since he added that hip twerk to his hitting set up?
  21. Hard not to be impressed with Ruiz and his mid .900s OPS. He’s been better than I expected in Nashville. Of course his season totals are crazy good
  22. Hope so. Thanks for responding
  23. Is Wiemer injured? Hasn’t been in the line up the last couple days has he?
  24. This is the most frustrating part to me. It's hard to argue either one of these guys deserves to DH regularly. My fear is that McCutchen is getting AB's just to get him to the 1000 career RBI mark because I can't for the life of me understand why he continues to be in the line up when they are in the playoff hunt. In my view the best bench bat should be DH based on the pitching match up.
  25. I would guess Mitchell sitting has more to do with the fact that he is a rookie who has flat been overmatched against some of the better pitchers he's faced, than a straight righty v lefty match up thing. Cole is one of the best.
