  1. Herein lies the problem with competitive balance between the AL and NL. There is just a category of very good hitters who cannot be considered by NL clubs because of the lack of the DH.
  2. He might be a poor fielder (range? Instinct? Arm?) but his bat certainly isnt declining. Id love to have him as a 4th outfielder over Gerut.
  3. I am growing tired of Corey Hart and his contract antics as they relate to his on-field performance. You expect this from and even respect players like Ryan Howard and Tim Lincecum, but this is a guy who plays very average defense and has looked lost at the plate for 1.5 seasons. Basically, he had two outstanding months in 2008 and every time contract talks come up he thinks he is the next Willie Mays.
  4. I am skeptical of this statement. A credit card is a contract. If they CC company establishes you signed a contract where you were provided a line of credit for a promise to repay and you breach the contract I believe they can sue you under breach of contract, take a judgment, and then docket the judgment against any property you may owe.
  5. With 4 team divisions I would venture a guess that you would have a .500 or even under .500 team making the playoffs almost every year.
  6. For me this is about the best place possible for him to land. I feel like I can root freely for him without having to endure Yankee, Met or Cubs succeess.
  7. It is probably an unpopular suggestion, but our backup plan really should be/have been Johnny Damon 1yr/5mil. Supposedly the Yankees are welcoming him back at 1yr/2mil. Defense be darned, he could still fill in at all three spots and get really meaningful playing time.
  8. I cant imagine even the must gullible of MLB fans can be tricked into going to a Royals/Pirates game in June easier than they can be in September. If anything, the "novelty" of the match up might actually get MORE fans to come to a game in September when both teams are inevitably out of it and not playing for anything, while struggling to put 15,000 butts in the seats. At least in June or May most fans are under the delusion that their seasons are still viable.
  9. Hey sweet avatar bernie. Did you make that?
  10. I dont understand the draw of the crime drama. CSI x3, Law and Order x3, NCIS x2, The Mentalist, Bones, Medium...they are all just the same recycled show. It is now wonder shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Dexter, etc, etc are so popular, people are desperate for something else - and it isnt reality television.
  11. I cant see Mulder getting a major league deal with his history. My guess is a minor league deal for Mulder, invitation to ST, and a guarantee to either be on the big league roster or released by 6/1 to find other work.
  12. With Doug Melvin's philosophy on Lefties (the develop late) I highly doubt he trades Parra.
  13. I'll be getting The Deep Dark Woods and Spoon's latest once my emusic subscription adds more downloads to my account next week. Thanks for the recommendations fellas.
  14. I dont know why people are thinking that it is ok the go into the season with the same depth and personnel we had last year. Right now Jeff Suppan is the 5th starter, which makes Chris Narveson #6 when and if a pitcher goes down. Id sooner lose Narveson and.or cut Suppan than go into the season with those two getting meaningful innings. Now I dont think Melvin needs to get crazy and overpay for Davis or Washburn or even commit to more than one year for either, but they certainly are upgrades and we certainly need more guys who can pitch. Despite last year's very small sample I am still not sold on Cladio Vargas being any help whatsoever this season as well.
  15. I dont think the Brewers would lose Suppan to waivers. besides, Narveson will likely pitch out of the bullpen anyway. The way I see it playing out is Gallardo, Wolf, FA, Bush, Parra with Suppan and Narveson in the bullpen. We need depth and quality and adding a Davis type gives us both. I dont think the Brewers can come into the season with only 6 realistic starting pitching possibilities.
  16. I am not a Leno fan, I prefer Conan first, Letterman next. That being said, it seems to me that everything he said last night is/was true and is consistent with NBC wanting its cake and eating it too.
  17. I've never understood that saying. Doesn't Nino mean, "boy?" I've also heard it refers to the Christ child.
  18. That is where I got them all. I paid $15.99 to get all of that music because I used to be a member and when I signed back up I got 75 free downloads.
  19. I cant see CBS being that interested with Dave and Ferguson entrenched like they are.
  20. Any chance someone could edit the thread title. Just looking at the way it is formatted hurts my eyes. Im talking taking the cap letter out of CUBS.
  21. I agree with Robert, if I didnt go see it in the theater during the few months it was floating around at various places I dont see how I cant wait 4 extra weeks to see it on DVD or Blu Ray.
  22. Im thrilled about it. It will allow me to cut my subscription cost to fewer DVDs at home at the same time and I have no problem waiting an extra month for a new release, and if I really, really cant wait, then Red Box should be able to fill the void for $1. If all the studios did this and everything were available for streaming it would be great.
  23. So we are a nation of broken remote controls? When I want to watch something I turn the channel. I never understood the "lead in" argument.
  24. Id be more worried of Melvin said that the brewers had a lot of money to spend and were looking to sign more pitchers as soon as possible. Doug Melvin chooses his words wisely.
