  1. Very nice sound off the bat here as he splits the gap between the shortstop and the third baseman. He's still a teenager for a few weeks folks.
  2. One of my predictions for this season is that he'll be the primary 3rd baseman by the end of the season.
  3. I'm starting to think he'll be sharing 1B duties with Tyler Black at some time in the not too distant future.
  4. If there's one player on this team that I'm not worried about losing his ability to hit a baseball learning a new position, it's Sal Frelick....
  5. Wes Clarke goes yard again!
  6. I think some people really underappreciate the extent to which Frelick's thumb injury sapped him of his power last year. He's never going to be a bopper, but he's got more power than he showed. That, combined with his elite BTB skills and his demonstrated ability to get on base will make for a fun player to have at the top of the lineup. Probably settling in around 2-3 annual WAR, maybe a little higher in his peak seasons.
  7. T-Minus 20 minutes until Brandon Woodruff is officially moved to the 60 Day IL....
  8. Honestly this makes it likely one of Turang, Wiemer, Mitchell, or Monasterio is going to get left off the OD roster.
  9. This ST is going to be so intriguing between all the younger guys, and I'm totally up for it.
  10. I view it as a 4 team race between Mil, CHC, STL, and CIN with any team having a reasonable shot to take it based on how several factors play out. If I had a gun to my head I would probably still pick the Brewers, but I wouldn't feel great about it. I do strongly disagree with the prognostications that put the Cardinals ahead of.the pack. Their rotation will be improved, but the additions that they made aren't as needle moving as people think. And Goldschmidt and Arenado are another year older. It will take big leaps from their young hitters such as Walker, Gorman, etc. Pirates are behind the pack, but I wouldn't totally rule them out. They've got some nice young talent.
  11. The guys we got last offseason didn't pan out. I'll give you that. But Hiura also got injured right as they would've considered calling him up and by the time he was fully healthy, we had Canha and Santana.
  12. I have a feeling we'll win a WS one of these years and the only two things you'll care to talk about about are 1) the Hader trade and 2) Hiura.
  13. Hiura averaged more PAs/season with the Brewers than Winker did in his sole season....
  14. Honestly, the fact that they're having him test out 3B and 2B speaks a lot about their confidence in him to hit and rebound in the power department after his thumb injury. It's good to see.
  15. He'd probably bump up to Carlos Rodriguez/Josh Knoth territory on my list if these reports are accurate. With the potential to get into the top 5 if he transfers this into the season and repeats his statistical dominance from last year. Always been a Henderson fan. Brewers have done well taking pitchers in the 4th round.
  16. Brock, gotta say, with McCalvy on the shelf and the continuing lack of a Brewers beat reporter for the Athletic, I'm pretty jazzed about this. Looking forward to the coverage and content and thank you!
  17. Colt Keith is locked into 2B for them with the extension. Torkelson is already locked into 1B. And then Carpenter and Canha at DH. I would say there’s virtually no room available for him in DET barring injury.
  18. TBH only move I really need to see Frelick make is to the leadoff spot so Yelich can bat in the 3 hole.
  19. Ageed. A healthy Aaron Ashby gives me more confidence we’ll be able to put together an effective run prevention unit this year. His upside is topped by no one on this team other than Misiorowski, who’s a prospect and a NRI, and maybe Freddy and DL. Hopefully 2023 just ends up becoming a “lost year” you throw into the trash and nothing more.
  20. I honestly don’t think the Brewers are going to be relying on him to pitch5/6 good innings per start. It’s going to be more of a bulk relief type role where you don’t let him go through the order a 3rd time imo. Again, we should adjust our expectations for our starters this year. It’s going to look more like 18-19 and less like 2021-2023.
  21. I don’t think Ashby absolutely needs to start the season in the minors. If his velocity is back and he’s getting guys out, then I’d have no problem putting him in the OD bullpen. Ashby is on the shortlist of guys I’m really paying attention to this ST and caring about the stats.
  22. Also, waiting patiently (not) for the first Aaron Ashby update.....
