  1. A Josh Donaldson reunion remains something I'd sign up for. Now, if you want a more long-term solution in the infield, the Brewers should offer a package headlined by Sal Frelick to the Cardinals for Nolan Gorman. They need a true CFer (their current one is Edman, an infielder), and we need some left-handed power in the infield. Doubt it ever happens because it's an interdivisional trade with one of our two biggest rivals, but it makes so much sense for both sides.
  2. Yeah. If you're going to take away Turang's defense at 2B, which is key to our run prevention strategy, especially now that Hoskins is signed, it would have to be for a more surefire offensive upgrade than Rosario.
  3. I'm fine with no Turner in the end. He's barely playing any 3B at this stage of his career, and his offensive numbers could tank at any time. xWOBA and BB% down. K% up. Before we signed Rhys Hoskins my tune would have been different, but he just doesn't fit as well with this roster if we're going to have Yelich/Contreras taking up a significant % of DH ABs.
  4. Maybe and that would be one argument I could see, but it's also what he's played his entire minor league career while being the youngest player in his league at every stop and he's done just fine. No need to "hide" Chourio in a corner. He's a legit, 60 grade CFer.
  5. I don't believe the Brewers gave Chourio that contract to stuff him in the corners.
  6. Eh, I think if he pitches well in ST, it'd be enough to put him in the OD bullpen at least. Little difference between that and minor league rehab. Will be one where ST results actually do matter. I don't put too much stock into last year's few outing stint. He was playing with less than a full deck of cards, as we now know.
  7. A couple weeks for the extra year of control. June to avoid Super 2.
  8. Also, Misiorowski #33, Quero #35, and Black #46.... Only 4 top 100 players compared to Cubs' 7, but important to remember there's very little separating 60-100 and 100-150, where the Brewers presumably have Wilken, Lara, etc. Brewers' farm strength is top-line talent and depth up to around #15-20, where they're deeper than pretty much everyone except for the Orioles.
  9. Never mind the website was in error…
  10. Looks like they’re finally “unretiring” Gantner’s # and giving it to Hoskins. Per the official roster….
  11. I think they’re going to wait to get the extra year of control. Unless there’s an injury in ST.
  12. I think Ashby will eventually join the rotation, though maybe not at the outset of the season. I think, if he's healthy and shows well in ST, he'll probably start by working out of the bullpen in multiple inning stints before making the transition to the rotation. I expect the OD rotation to be Burnes, Peralta, Miley, Rea, and Ross. Gasser starts in AAA and is first up in case of injury.
  13. Padres tried this very thing and came crashing back down to reality....There are in fact, limits. Even for billionaires (which MA isn't even).
  14. Ahh, now the shifting of the goalposts begins.
  15. Ignoring everything else here, am I crazy or did Mark not sign Lorenzo Cain to exactly that sort of contract?
  16. Updated Potential Lineup, with Steamer projections : 1. Frelick LF (projected 103 wRC+) 2. Contreras C (projected 120 wRC+) 3. Yelich DH (projected 116 wRC+) 4. Hoskins 1B (projected 115 wRC+) 5. Adames SS (projected 103 wRC+) 6. Black 3B (projected 104 wRC+) 7. Chourio CF (projected 93 wRC+) 8. Mitchell/Wiemer RF (GM career 117 wRC+ vs RHP; JW career 115 wRC+ vs. LHP) 9. Turang/Monasterio 2B (BT projected 88 wRC+; AM career 118 wRC+ vs. LHP) That's a good lineup with the potential to be elite if Chourio has a rookie season like Carroll, Julio, Tatis, Acuna, etc....
  17. Well, Nutting did say they're ready to compete. Must be his version of an "all-in" move.
  18. BP has Basallo at 13 and 70 OFP, so not really. If the O's wanted to offer us, say Basallo, Ortiz, and Povich for Freddy, I don't know how Arnold could say no.
  19. Basallo probably going to move off of C. To 1B or DH.
  20. Basallo's bat is that good,. Like Yordan level. BA thinks he could be the #1 prospect in baseball next year. #10 already. I'd take that next to Chourio even at 1B or DH.
  21. I'd give up Freddy for Basallo.... https://www.masnsports.com/blog/rolling-out-more-random-orioles-thoughts-and-observations
  22. That's exactly what I suspected what was happening with Frelick. A thumb injury really hurts a guy who had relatively little power to begin with. Expecting a nice season from him this year.
