    Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, while the Brewers are telling teams they'll listen to offers on everyone currently on the roster, they seem to be more inclined to chase another division title with a possible reevaluation at the deadline. Heyman pegs the odds of a trade at 30%.     They did not treat Woodruff like a piece of meat. They treated him the same any other team in our situation would have. None of the other guys who were nontendered received a glowing official team statement like Woodruff did. Fact of the matter is that Woodruff is almost certainly not going to pitch this season and as a result there is no more value to be had with only one year on his contract. They’re actually doing him a favor by letting him negotiate the best deal for himself on the open market.

    Canha and Santana literally were difference makers for this team's offense. Just compare the team's offensive numbers before the trade and after the trade. Who cares about whether it's a big name? Plus those types of guys tend to empty out your farm system and severely affect your ability to win a WS in the long term, doubly so for a small market such as Milwaukee. It is so incredibly hard to win a WS. Despite their inability to get to that end goal, this franchise has been right there competitively with the big markets since Stearns and Arnold took over.

    Because they don't want to pay $12 million to a guy to not pitch for one season? This organization has made its share of mistakes (though fewer than at any time in its history over the past 7-8 years), but between this, Bauers/Toro trades, etc. people are grasping at straws just to hate on MA here. It's getting so irritating.

    What? We haven't been competing? And don't say WS because plenty of teams have competed and not won a WS. We've won more games in the last 6 years than almost all of the big markets.

    Stupid decision would've been paying a guy $11 million not to pitch this year. If they couldn't come to a contract or trade agreement, this was the only move.

    Huh? They traded Renfroe because they had a cheaper option in Tyrone Taylor and the youngsters who ended up providing greater value. Didn't need to "replace him". It was just the prudent baseball move.

    Looks like the A's are going to become just the second franchise in half a century to relocate tomorrow. Relocation committee, headed by one Mark Attanasio, and Manfred have given their official stamp of approval. Thank God they were able to get the Am Fam funding deal done.     I mean the strongest argument against Mendez is his swing is atrocious. But it's also reality that the chances of hitting on two IFAs from the same class are next to nil.

    Yeah. Employee income tax and seat fee is the way these days, and even that is hugely controversial. You will never see anything like the 5 county sales tax again.

    I worked at the Capitol a few years ago when I was still in school at UW and retain some connections there. It was a real dogfight to get this through the Senate. They didn't have the votes until early this morning when the Dem leader gave the go-ahead to the fence sitters in her caucus after the amendment for MKE representation on the board and the increased ticket tax. Wouldn't have passed otherwise. Compared to when they first built the stadium, though, yes this was smooth.
