    Chourio, since July 14, 2023 (including winter ball, which is effectively AAA pitching): 74 games, 336 PAs .335/.395/.536/.931, 8.6 BB%, 12.7 K%. That's pure domination. I couldn't care less what he did before that under a tacked ball he won't see in the majors at the same age as a college freshman. Not sure what else you need to see if he proves he's indeed up to it in ST. I'm not opposed to him spending more time in the minors. But I'm also not holding him down until he clears some arbitrary OPS threshold. We'll have a much clearer picture come late March, but the Chourio I watched in Venezuela this past month was ready for major league at-bats right now. FWIW, for the OP, he was literally a top 5 hitter in that league in which he's more than 9 years younger than the league average.

    Sure worked for the Mariners and Dbacks, though just the last two seasons...If Brewers extend Chourio as they should and as those teams did, then any service time considerations become irrelevant. Torkelson isn't really comparable as a prospect to Chourio as he's a college player who provides almost no value apart from his bat. Chourio is 19 and improving rapidly.

    You have to make contact to get to your raw power. While I'm hopeful he can make the necessary adjustments, particularly mechanically, it's far from a guarantee. And I don't know if he's more likely to successfully make them than our other guys.

    I think we're better off getting our power infusion from the 1B position. Hoskins or even Garver would be a better fit and we wouldn't have to give up anything. A full-time DH with multiple years of control not really a fit with Yelich on the roster and the imminent crunch for OF spots we're facing, as well as the possibility of Quero supplanting Contreras defensively at C.

    Honestly, the Brewers wouldn't be off base to ask for Walker Jenkins from the Twins. Jenkins and Festa and I'd do it.

    Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, while the Brewers are telling teams they'll listen to offers on everyone currently on the roster, they seem to be more inclined to chase another division title with a possible reevaluation at the deadline. Heyman pegs the odds of a trade at 30%.     They did not treat Woodruff like a piece of meat. They treated him the same any other team in our situation would have. None of the other guys who were nontendered received a glowing official team statement like Woodruff did. Fact of the matter is that Woodruff is almost certainly not going to pitch this season and as a result there is no more value to be had with only one year on his contract. They’re actually doing him a favor by letting him negotiate the best deal for himself on the open market.

    Canha and Santana literally were difference makers for this team's offense. Just compare the team's offensive numbers before the trade and after the trade. Who cares about whether it's a big name? Plus those types of guys tend to empty out your farm system and severely affect your ability to win a WS in the long term, doubly so for a small market such as Milwaukee. It is so incredibly hard to win a WS. Despite their inability to get to that end goal, this franchise has been right there competitively with the big markets since Stearns and Arnold took over.

    Because they don't want to pay $12 million to a guy to not pitch for one season? This organization has made its share of mistakes (though fewer than at any time in its history over the past 7-8 years), but between this, Bauers/Toro trades, etc. people are grasping at straws just to hate on MA here. It's getting so irritating.

    Stupid decision would've been paying a guy $11 million not to pitch this year. If they couldn't come to a contract or trade agreement, this was the only move.

    Huh? They traded Renfroe because they had a cheaper option in Tyrone Taylor and the youngsters who ended up providing greater value. Didn't need to "replace him". It was just the prudent baseball move.

Relocation committee, headed by one Mark Attanasio, and Manfred have given their official stamp of approval. Thank God they were able to get the Am Fam funding deal done.
