  1. Arcia's a "public" figure. The legal threshold for defamation for public figures in the US is as high as it gets. i.e., actual malice. So, no chance.
  2. True. I'm just saying pitching and defense will keep you in games and is generally more reliable than slugging which is prone to power outages. Case in point, the Braves.
  3. On the other hand, the Braves have the most stacked lineup of them all and are struggling with the Phillies because their pitching has gone in the tubes....
  4. Would be a great idea if Burnes' agent wasn't Boras.
  5. Some potential deals. If we want pitching, we should probably look the Dodgers' way. If we want a power infusion, we should definitely talk to the O's. Padres offer the best combination of both imo.
  6. I was at the first game. It was loud at points and you're right that Burnes surrendering gopher balls and a three run lead didn't help matters, but I just didn't get the sense of anticipation and excitement that I have from previous playoff games, like in 2018 or even 2021.
  7. Why not have a dedicated thread for all of the rumors and proposals that are going to inevitably ensue over the next several months? Despite Arnold's comments yesterday, I feel pretty confident a trade is forthcoming. I was on the fence about it at the end of the season, but Burnes' choke job in the playoffs and the presence of pitching desperate and prospect rich teams such as the Orioles and Dodgers has put me firmly on the trade side. The several teams that I think could be interested: LAD, BAL, TEX, SF, SD, PHI, NYY, BOS.
  8. If the Brewers had beaten the Dbacks and were tied 1-1 (or better) vs. the Dodgers, I have a feeling Am Fam would be similar. Brewers fans have gotten a little complacent.
  9. Must be nice to be able to go out and sign a Bryce Harper or a Trea Turner in his prime... Also, Braves basically decided to start Adrian Houser in a must win game.
  10. Yeah. I’m just praying they’d give us Mayo.
  11. No it’s literally not. It’s still a negative value deal per BTV. You also don’t have to look any further than the Rockies eating Arenado’s salary a few years back. “Find the right deal” lol. Right after we find the pot of gold at the other end of the rainbow.
  12. Assuming Woodruff's injury is not season ending.... -Tender: Burnes, Woodruff, Adames, Houser, Milner, Williams, Taylor, Wilson, Payamps -Non-tender: Tellez, Toro, Lauer -Option: exercise on Mark Canha -Trade(s): Burnes to LAD for E. Sheehan, J. Vargas; Williams to BAL for C. Mayo -Free Agent: Sign Wade Miley for 1 year 8 million, C: Contreras, Henry 1B: Canha/Black 2B: Turang, Monasterio SS: Adames 3B: Mayo/Black LF: Frelick CF: Chourio (PPI) RF: Mitchell/Taylor/Wiemer DH: Yelich SP: Woodruff, Peralta, Miley, Sheehan, Houser, Ashby, Gasser RP: Payamps, Uribe, Megill, Milner, Peguero, Wilson Cash in on Burnes and Williams to lay the foundation for a prolonged World Series window. Chourio, Mayo and Black to a lesser extent will provide the extra pop that was missing this year. Sheehan gives your potential top of the rotation arm to replace Burnes and eventually Woodruff. Still a team that would be a co-favorite in the NL Central.
  13. I wouldn't. Julien is older, a bad fielder, and has some serious K issues.
  14. Brewers' greatest accomplishment this season was by far going to Texas after getting swept in LA and putting a whopping on this Rangers team.
  15. Yeah. Uribe and Frelick have to be the top 2 here....
  16. Garver is more of a DH. He wouldn't replace Contreras at all.
  17. Dodgers might be done with their starting pitching situation. It's a shame we had to have the series vs. the Dbacks we did, because I suspected this might happen with the Dodgers being more vulnerable than usual.
  18. I wanted the Dbacks over the Marlins, as I thought the Marlins were the better bet to be that team.
  19. I'd also see if you can rip Abel or Painter off Dombrowski and the Phils, who are going to lose Kimbrel in the offseason.
  20. I'd take Mayo or Basallo from the Orioles, who are going to be without Bautista for the next year.
  21. Their run prevention unit is actually preventing runs. The Brewers' unit, which was the best in the league all season, faltered at the worst time. That's the biggest difference right now. Brewers actually hit pretty well against the D-backs. They just fell victim to bad luck and timely defense by the D-backs.
  22. Garver and Hoskins are FAs who would be the best of both worlds. Tellez's complete loss of power this year was a real killer.
  23. Easy solution is to go with the 2020 playoff format. We all know MLB is never going to reduce the field or the number of games.
  24. Mitch Garver is someone I'd be interested in on a reasonable deal. Can play 1B, C and DH as the right-handed compliment to Yelich. Dude crushes the ball and gets on base.
  25. I don’t know if I’d call Lux average. Or at least the latest version of him we saw in 2022. Id hope it’d be the trade market because the FA pool for MIfers is the worst it’s ever been.
