  1. They contended this year and won the division without Woody for most of the season. In this division, they would seemingly have more than a reasonable chance of contending. You always have the fallback to trade Burnes at the deadline if things go awry. A comp pick is also quite valuable.
  2. At the same time, wouldn't Woody rather rehab with the Brewers and then hopefully return for a one year "prove it" period with the Brewers than be non-tendered and cast out to rehab on your own and then take your chances proving it for another team. If I were Woody, I would choose the money and the familiarity.
  3. But there's also reports out there that he would choose to stay with the Brewers if it was only like a half a million difference...
  4. Yeah, I meant non-tendering him. What I'm saying is the team should work hard to get him to push back his FA by a year.
  5. Could maybe shed more light on Arnold's comments from the other day that he expects Burnes to be in the organization next season.
  6. I have little interest in DFAing Woody. Makes the organization look bad after all he's done and you lose one of your foundation pieces for nothing.
  7. FWIW, I say hold onto Burnes for now. Trade him at the deadline if the team falls out of contention, but otherwise take the comp pick and let Johnson and co. go to work. He'll be plenty motivated to have a season more in line with 2021 in a contract year.
  8. I don't think it would be organizational malpractice to simply push back his FA by a year...It's probably in the best interest of both club and pitcher.
  9. Not similar. Nelson's was a torn labrum.
  10. The question now becomes does this affect their plans with Burnes?
  11. Guess it was indeed more than inflammation. Sucks as Woody is absolutely elite when healthy. Hope the team can work out a two year deal with him.
  12. Totally not my point or what I was saying, but go on.
  13. Also, for all the crapping on the Brewers' offense this season and the praising of the Dodgers' and Braves' star-powered offenses, the Brewers' scored more runs per game this postseason than the Dodgers and Braves...
  14. Pillar not scoring there is a killer.
  15. No. Though, I probably should have added "a bit" to the end of my first sentence. He's still succeeding, just not at the DeGrom-esque level he was before. Spencer Strider ERA from debut to 2.75, 1.92 FIP, 0.54 HR/9. Spencer Strider ERA from May 17 to present: 4.31/3.28 FIP/1.29 HR/9.
  16. I feel like the league may have figured out Strider. Tough to succeed when you rely on two pitches as heavily as he does.
  17. Yep. It was for Game 7 of the NLCS. Loudest I've ever heard after Yelich's HR.
  18. I want me an Austin Riley....
  19. Sounds like we're getting closer to the end here, with the caveat being that this is politics and things can change quickly. On a somewhat related note, wonder if MLB doesn't reward the team by announcing an ASG to MKE within the next 7-8 years....Seattle just had one and they hosted the year before us in 2001.
  20. Yeah, Betts and Freeman just choked.
  21. Dave Roberts is going to get fired and then get hired by the Giants. Dodgers could be another CC suitor...
  22. Feels like the Cards will sign Nola or Snell at least.
  23. What the Dodgers need is Corbin Burnes. They will get Buehler back next season, but they need an ace. Kershaw might be done this time.
  24. At least we played them better than the Dodgers did.
