Offseason prospect ranking season begins early! Just Baseball is first out. Leighton definitely does better work than a Kiley McDaniel at ESPN, for example... Chourio #3 (behind Holliday and Caminero), Quero #26, Misiorowski #50, Lara #62, Black #64. https://www.justbaseball.com/prospects/mlb-top-100-prospects-2023/#entry-18497 Oct 19th podcast discusses the top 10 prospects, including Chourio. He was able to get a look at Chourio in AAA and came away very impressed. Some interesting tidbits: -Clocked at sub 4 (3.8!) from home to first. Thinks he has the best run tool in the top 100. -90th percentile EV of 106. -30 HR potential, but needs to reduce GB% -"Acuna-lite"/"superstar"

How about a CF version of Jose Altuve for a comp? If he ever translates that raw power into in-game power...Altuve didn't start showing his power until very, very late in his development.

JT Realmuto being a nominee over Contreras is a joke. He was an awful pitch framer. Adames should've gotten in over Lindor, but I'm sure offense and reputation have something to do with that.

Not trying to. Just saying I personally don't understand it and being fine with losing the team just to make a point that won't have an effect on anything. Not to mention the supporting information is erroneous.

I'm increasingly thinking we're going to see Chourio on OD, pending his ST performance.... The reason? The PPI and the fact that Chourio is probably right now the odds-on favorite to win NL ROY. -

I really don't understand Dusty Baker's stubbornness in playing Maldonado over Diaz. In a series that's looking as close as this one is, that could very well cost them.

Out of curiosity, does anybody have Chourio's wRC+ post-tacked ball? Trying to do some comparisons with other teenagers in AA. -
I doubt they make this announcement and bring it up for a vote if they’re not sure they have the votes. They would know.

Braves are going to be another potential suitor this offseason, with Kyle Wright undergoing the same exact surgery as Woodruff. Bats went ice cold, yes, but their pitching did them no favors. Fried has had some trouble staying healthy recently, as well.

They don't need to do all this. All of their top prospects are at or close to the majors. This is an organization that has said their number one priority is to be competitive year in and year out. And you would especially be doing more harm than good to the future of this franchise if you packaged Peralta with Yelich.
