  1. One word: Power. You need it in the postseason. Also, Monasterio has been awful lately.
  2. Yeah. The guy with a 13% walk rate has a bad eye....
  3. Okay but Payamps isn't a young guy....And as you said Uribe has looked fine. Peguero is back and was pitching really well in August/September. Overall, it's the best bullpen in baseball over the course of the season, and the second best over the last month.
  4. Our young BP guys were showing wear and tear at the end of the season? We had the second best bullpen ERA in baseball over the last month. Also, fwiw, we took 4/6 from Philly this season and Woody didn't pitch in any of those games while Nola and Wheeler pitched in half...
  5. Do it for Woody! Hope he gets the biggest ovation when he's introduced today.
  6. I'm too excited, so I thought I'd get the discussion started! Feel free to pin mods. If this wasn't the most important game of the series before; it is now. Time for Corbin to earn that paycheck and carry this rotation in Woody's absence. Offense was much better in August/September after being bottom of the rung for most of the year. Just get the lead and turn it over to Devin and co. for the close-out. Why not us?!
  7. Yeah. Obviously he's very highly like to be missing the entire postseason regardless of the precise nature of the injury. At the same time, all it's been described as is a capsular injury. No word of a tear. It could be more inflammation, for all we know.
  8. Is Woodruff really worth an 8 game difference in the standings? Brewers already have the biggest pitching advantage of the series tomorrow in the most important game. Gallen and Kelly are good, of course, and going to be tough to hit, but you still have Freddy Peralta (one of the best pitchers in baseball since July) and Wade Miley, not to mention the best bullpen in baseball. A Yelich or Contreras injury would be far more impactful. The real effects of the Woody injury will be felt in subsequent rounds where the series are longer.
  9. I'm not saying he's pitching this postseason. The safest assumption obviously is he's not. But you're literally making an assumption right as you say "I'm not making any assumptions."
  10. We'll see. We're all making assumptions at this point.
  11. No, but you also get them if one doctor says you're going to miss the entire postseason, whereas another says you could potentially make it back in time. I'm not ruling out surgery as a possibility, but it's too early to start going down that road.
  12. I wouldn't go that far yet. Surgery pretty far down the list of prescriptions. And if that is what is likely required, you would think they'd rule him out for the postseason entirely. Possible, but too early to go there. Post-season wise, 3 aces is a real luxury. 2 aces is still a really good spot to be in. Especially when you have Miley as your backup option and the best bullpen in the majors to shorten games. The margins are tighter, but there's still a path forward. Offense was going to have to step up regardless.
  13. Jacob Misiorowski, Robert Gasser, and Carlos Rodriguez is not "pretty yikes".
  14. Houser is not making this roster after going 5 innings yesterday.
  15. It'll be more difficult, but the Brewers still have the best bullpen in baseball they can lean on. Woody's been key for sure, but, in reality, it's been the entire pitching staff. This is where you back away and let CC eat.
  16. In light of the Woodruff news I'm taking the Brewers in 2.
  17. I'll choose to take the optimistic route and say Brewers in 2. Burnes vs. Pfaadt is pretty self-evident. And then Peralta has pitched way better than Gallen in the 2nd half. Brewers offense explodes.
  18. You can insert Rea for Woodruff now. Also think this means they're going to go 14 position players and 12 position players. So, probably Chafin gets a spot as the second lefty option. He actually hasn't been that bad lately.
