    Never thought this team’s farm would have too many legit starter arms to keep track of by memory, but that’s where we are with me — incredible turnaround for the system, arm-wise. Thank you Johnson & co.

    What a draft-class. Already have what appears to be a mainstay big-league reliever from this class (Hudson for Chambers). I know the overall 2023 MLB draft class was quite possibly the most talented of all time, but wow, this team’s collection of talent, especially on the pitching side is looking early on as being franchise-altering. From Wichrowski-Knoth-Birchard-Letson to Manfredi-Timmerman-Yoho-Woodward. Then the 2 high-bonus HS arms currently in extended ST, Bjorn Johnson & Hayden Robinson. That’s a ton of pitching talent from 1 draft-class. Then add Wilken-Pratt-Boeve-Bitonti & Adamczewski positionally and you get a WOW from me!

    Have to be happy with the early returns on trading Chambers to the LAD for Bryan Hudson. Dodgers scouts zeroing in on Justin tells me they see a future big-league starter, but that’s 4-5 years away and it looks like we have a nasty LH reliever for the foreseeable future.

    Absolutely yes on both accounts. The pitching added from the 2023 draft-class has at a minimum balanced out the farm, pitching vs positionals. The farm now has as many legit SP prospects as I’ve ever seen it. Maybe not the impact of Peralta-Woodruff-Burnes, but pure numbers — yes. But who knows, with the numbers of SP prospects now working with this teams PDS, we may see another dominant homegrown MKE rotation ahead.

    The package to acquire 2 seasons of Cease would have been prohibitive and doesn’t fit the timeline and philosophy of this team. Patience with this team is a huge virtue and will be rewarded.

    Tonight spotlights the progress the team’s farm has made adding legit starting pitching prospects. Whether by trade (Blalock) or draft (Knoth-Letson-Wichrowski). And now we have Herrera to keep an eye on, at least I will moving forward. So many interesting arms now in this system.

    Absolutely has priced himself out of MKE but……. The trajectory with his surplus trade value could make him the most valuable trade commodity in baseball offseason of ‘25. Could be as much as $60M, which is franchise altering talent returned.

    Josh Timmerman with a nice outing. 4+ 1H 2R 2BB 6K. The ‘23 draft-class just keeps getting better and better with every debut appearance.

    We have ourselves some starter arms now in our system, like more than just a few. Gasser-CRod-Misiorowski-Woessner-Blalock-Henderson Birchard-Knoth just to name 8. Of course there’s more, but there’s a pretty nice future rotation out of that group.

    Yeah not really excited to see Ashby in the bigs at 92-93mph with no command. Shell city.

    Thanks for the work involved in putting that list together.

    $2M more than last years pool, so a good opportunity for Johnson & co. to continue to put together good to great draft-classes like he has the last 4 years and 5 of the last 6. Then next year we get comp A, a high likelihood of a mid 30’s pick for Adames, with maybe another mid 30’s pick with Hoskins. $15M-$17M next year in pool money could potentially make next years class incredible. Then in ‘26 with the possibility of more extra draft-capital from Woodruff-Williams or another opt-out. This team could have a strong farm system all the way thru the rest of this decade. Amazing to think how that translates to the big-league club.

    Wilken-EBJ-Misiorowski are maybe the most important trio of prospects to follow in the Brewers system. Good seasons from the 3 really sets up the big-league team to have quite the homegrown team over the next couple of seasons.

    So excited to follow Carolina with all of the young talent on both sides of the ball. This has to be one of the youngest low A teams in baseball.

    I’d go Gasser-CRod-Ashby in that order. They said weeks on Gasser, not months, so guessing he could rotation if needed by May. Ashby is far from being big-league ready sitting 92. CRod could rotation anytime, although it would be preferred to get him a couple of months of AAA starts first.

    No hurry on Ashby. I believe he has 2 more option years including this year so they have plenty of time for him to get the velo back.

    No. More than half the contract would be for past-prime performance years which this SM team should never do — ever, especially now that they have a prospect-procurement system capable of keeping their farm system strong for years ahead.

    I think better. He added a splitter he can throw to combat LHH’s and he’s had more time to work with the team’s PDS. The team getting a team option next year on Rea tells me they think there’s a decent chance they can get a couple of nice seasons out of him as well.

    Yeah, 92 isn’t going to cut it. I thought he was sitting 93-95 in ST before his last couple of outings, but maybe I’m misremembering. Hoping as the season moves along his velo can get back to 94-95.

    Agree with your analysis of the Reds defense. They’re missing 2 of their best defenders McLain & Friedl, Benson is out of position playing CF. Candelario is terrible at 3B, CES/Steer aren’t good defenders at 1B/LF respectively. India is not good at 2B. Injuries have destroyed their defensive potential this year, even Marte, while not a good defender is better than Candelario. The season-ending injury to Arroyo, who is a plus IF defender keeps them from getting any real help from down below. It will improve some when they get Friedl back in May and Marte in July, but this will still be an average to below average defensive team the second-half of the season.

    McLain had left shoulder surgery performed last week, out for most if not the entire season. Friedl broke his wrist and is out until some time in May. Arroyo had shoulder surgery and is out for the year. Williamson, LHSP has shoulder pain and is out indefinitely.
