  1. Actually, I bet it's spelled "Cache".
  2. NUMBER 8!!!!!! Seriously, 8 homers in 55 AB? I'll now invoke the term "video game numbers".
  3. Who is responsible for lack of fundamentals? I don't know. Maybe...Satan http://www.getincensed.com/wp-content/uploads/3_church_lady.jpg This is kind of a chicken and egg question, as one would think the organization may be emphasizing hitting (and for power) a lot. However, it may simply be that those are our prospects' strengths, so it looks like it's been the most important facet.
  4. So we're roughly 70 games into the season and the samples are big enough to no longer be pure flukes. Which hitter and pitcher in each league have really blown you away with their success so far? Hitters AL: Milton Bradley. Yeah, he played well for SD last year, has a track record of some success, and plays in a hitter's park. That said, the guy leads the AL in OBP and SLG. NL: Ryan Ludwick. He has some good years under his belt, but nothing that would point to a 1.038 OPS. Pitchers AL: Shaun Marcum: Who? The guy who's beating his ace teammate in ERA by over .60. This one was actually hard, as Eveland, Saunders, Floyd, and Contreras are pretty impressive. NL: Edinson Volquez: I heard the hype but he never looked to be a superstar in the making when I saw him pitch for Texas. A 1.63 ERA though 88 IP while pitching in Cincy is god-like. *Honorable mention to Ryan Dempster.
  5. An ERA under 2 for a starter is freakin' wicked. Still Eckersley's stats are just sick. It's a tough call, but it's between those two with no Welch in the discussion for me.
  6. A musical? I'd rather sit and watch the weather channel. I'm with Al here. Musicals are like mayonnaise or Styx: you either love or loathe 'em, but nobody is neutral.
  7. No. Expand your question to include women as well and my answer still remains the same. I agree. I do think they're OK for kids, though as they're easy to get on and off, require no tying, and make things easy for their parents.
  8. People are genuinely that excited about this guy and his tunes? Like Brian alluded to, a handful of X will make people that excited for a reading of Wordsworth.
  9. Is it crap Emo or crappy thrash metal? Scandinavian Brazilian as the cruelest words. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3113/2570013227_2ebb50e889.jpg?v=0Note: first picture was too risque (bare/painted breasts) for this site, so this is the second attempt.
  10. Through March/April, when Soriano sucked to the tune of a .528 OPS, the team still went 17-10.
  11. He can't keep up the ridiculousness, but a re-creation of his 2005 numbers would be fine with me.
  12. I think that freecreditreport.com jerk needs to start accepting responsibility for his own screw-ups. No dude, you don't have a crappy car because you didn't go to freecreditreport.com. You have a crappy car because you have a crappy job (because you have no skills, not because you didn't visit some website) and you don't pay your bills. I like how he's in a $300 car instead of a new "cool convertible or SUV". Dude, if all you have for a down payment is 300 bucks, you shouldn't be buying a new car. My supbar credit meant I had to use the $6,500 I had for a downpayment and buy a car with cash rather than use it as a downpayment (on a $12,000 used car).
  13. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience an erection which lasts 7 innings or longer.
  14. If you are going to pay to put an ad somewhere, or even just advertise on your own business space, make sure you are spelling correctly! Nothing turns me away more than poor spelling on advertising. I drove by a big billboard in Texas that says "TATTOO'S" in advertising for a tattoo parlor. Seriously, if you make green grocer's errors in your spelling, I am NOT paying you to permanently put something on my body.
  15. BJ went 1-1 in '85 and there was SICK talent on that board...it will be interesting to see how it plays out...thanks battlekow I'm still most upset that Chad Kreuter fell right into our lap and we passed for Todd Brown. What coulda been...
  16. Morgan Ensberg, Ryan Howard, Adrian Beltre and Javy Lopez all finished top 5 in the MVP balloting as well. Hows that working out for all of them? Worse players have actually won the award that were more important than Fielder is. I would have greedily taken anyone of those players the offseason following those years. Howard was great the year after his MVP (then started crappy this year), Ensberg put up an .859 OPS the next year, and Lopez was at .873. Only Beltre fell apart, but he had a career record of suckiness before his huge year. I'll give you Kazmir, but I'd call it a no-brainer between Prince and the others listed, especially Francis and the sub-100 OPS+ Francouer.
  17. I say why not. It's not like he's going to be that much worse than Cameron and maybe it will wake up Cameron a bit. It's kinda a tricky issue. Kapler breathing down his neck could motivate him to play his best and stay on the field to put up numbers that will get his option picked up or a new contract, or it could cause him to press too hard, change his approach, and screw up.
  18. Kapler has been amazing relative to my expectations. While I'm not knee-jerkish enough to think he can keep it up over a large sample (though he once did in 2000), I'm totally in favor of giving him at least a start a week to see just how long that lightning will stay in the bottle.
  19. I heard that Fielder guy started eating veggies made from meat, too. Prince didn't change anything. Melvin bought Branyan a new hot tub to intentionally lose an arm wrestling match to Prince - that's how he got his swagger back.
  20. The homepage will say "2008 MLB Draft: Canceled!" to ward off the casual visitors.
  21. Greinke is 24 and putting up an ERA under 3.00. I believe he has two years left before free agency. That's not the profile of a guy who's gonna come cheaply. Any deal would have to start with LaPorta or Gamel and then add at least one more decent player or prospect to top it off.
  22. I'd really hesitate to trade LaPorta for a couple months of anyone unless we get super-hot, have a good shot at the postseason, and find out Yo will return at the end of the year. I just don't think this is a year to put all of your chips in and make a push. Still, the season is relatively young.
  23. This is one of the few instances of booing your own player I'm cool with. I don't see anything wrong with being mad at a player who says he wants to leave your team. That said, it should last a day or two and then be done with. It's childish if people carry on forever.
  24. I'd like to see Rivera get a bit more work. Kendall was so awesome early on and cooled way off. I'd like to make sure that's not because he's worn down.
