  1. Dunn has a $13MM option or $500K buyout for next year. That's pretty attractive for a guy who's not quite 28 with a .930 OPS and no injury history. My guess is they exercise it and he's a free agent after 2008.

  3. I absolutely LOVE this move as long as we're giving up very little. King can still neutralize lefties, he just HAS to only be used against them, as righties have a 1.044 OPS against him this year. That's better than Ryan Braun. Of course, it's only .801 for his career vs .591 for LHB, but he hasn't been better than awful against righties since 2004.
  4. Looks like a decent list. I haven't seen more than half of those, but I like all of the ones I've seen. "Who killed the electric car" is very good, but maybe that's because it sparked an interesting conversation between a group of us who'd recently seen it. It's one of the better documentaries I've seen recently, but that's moreso because most of the others have sucked.
  5. I know people who are satisfied with Netflix, but if you live near a Blockbuster, it's well worth the extra dollar a month to get Total Access, which is basically NetFlix with the option of returning the disk to the store for a new one.
  6. I started off working at a carwash for a year and a half. We had to clean out the ditches where all the gunk that came off cars went, and you had some really nasty stinky cars coming in there. Plus there was no AC in the summer and virtually no heat in the winter. Pretty much all of my coworkers who weren't too young to get a better job were guys coming from jail on Huber privileges. There were some real "live to win" types at that place. That job, and the 10 hour days I worked when I was 15, sucked.
  7. libel Jeez, is it really that hard to get over being banned from a website? He seems to have found a new home, there's no reason he can't move on.
  8. I think it's good to show newer users where the boundaries are. This makes it clear that you aren't banned for disagreeing with a secret inner circle or "arguing against Yost's decision to play Mouton". Sometimes, we never see why a poster is gone, because it happened via PM, and those posters then come out and accuse the mods of banning him for being a white man, or something moronic like that. Rather, everyone who was banned was clearly being a troll and a jerk.
  9. I'm in the TC area, but I don't really like going to theaters. I'm a rental kinda dude.
  10. Kat, is that on DVD? It sounds cool, but Blockbuster doesn't show it on their website.
  11. You may have a hard time finding N64 games used. At least at the bigg chains they pay like 25 cents for the games so nobody really trades them in and therefore they don't have any. Any decent sized independent used games store is likely to have a copy, since Goldeneye was such a hugely successful game. Give them a call and ask if they have a copy. Glancing quickly at Ebay, there are many copies for under $15 including shipping.
  12. How does one go about getting banned and then getting back in but later being caught? I'm completely clueless on this stuff. I'd figured that if the IP address was banned, he wouldn't be able to get back in from there, and thus couldn't be re-banned. Or I thought that if he simply created an account somewhere else without a banned IP address, you wouldn't know it was him.
  13. I seriously wouldn't doubt if 20% of people couldn't locate a single country on a map. But America? Most of us have an education and those who don't have a favorite T-Shirt with a big flag on it that has an outline of America exploding out of a screeching eagle's mouth. Or they've been to a few Toby Keith shows.
  14. Here is how I would have answered the question: I would have simply questioned the validity of the data and turned the question on the questioner. That simply can't be a representative sample those data came from. Of course, after watching this girl and her "full schlorship", maybe it really is true.
  15. Especially when defense is taken into consideration. We've had plenty of players come through here that didn't play major league defense recently. If the major league team has to get them up to speed there it has to have an effect on what else they can work on. After all there is only so much time in a day. A lot of that should have been doen at lower levels. I don't think you can blame any of our coaches at any level for that. Most of these guys were known to have deficits, so it's like blaming the coaches for Estrada's lack of speed that was probably apparent when he was 5. The front office is the best place to lay the blame, as it wasn't the minor league coach's decision to promote a guy a level when his D was still shoddy. The most you can do is say that they failed to improve the players drastically beyond expectations. Look at our big prospects to come up recently and compare their performance with what people said on draft day: Fielder - many said he'd be a DH. Safe to say he's exceeded expectations by not being a total hack. Weeks - widely predicted a move to the OF. He's not good, but he's still not as bad as many predicted. Braun - see Weeks. Hart - I don't remember draft day for Corey, but in the early minors the report was that he's a good athlete and defender (ignore the 3B experiment), check. Hardy - they said he'd be good and he is.
  16. I've been interested in it as well, but it's not available here and I can't find anything about plans to bring it to the twin cities. Has anyone heard anything?
  17. I'm speechless, what a moron. Just watch. LINK
  18. I'm pretty confident that he won't get in. Like Robert says, there's nothing about his numbers that stand out. Yeah, he's been a great player with some longevity, but he won't hit the milestones that voters look for. Still, there aren't many players who do what he does (the speedster with a decent stick profile) that have been better over the course of his career.
  19. I think the Krynzel-like value in a trade is right on. Somebody may ask for him as a change of scenery nugget type in a trade if they're thin in the OF, or we could maybe trade him for a McClung type that someone has given up on, but he won't fetch much.
  20. Exactly what kind of lion does he have?
  21. Since it was after August 1, did he have to pass through waivers without some other team filing a claim? Yup, but he's making over a million dollars the rest of the way to be a mediocre player, so I'm guessing you didn't have teams foaming at the mouth over him.
  22. Huh? You know he's 20 years old right? And he's just been called up to play LF and bat 2nd for a team in the middle of the playoff race. I'm not really sure what "numbers" we're talking about MSC. What "numbers" indicate future superstar anyway? It takes a lot to convince me that an A/A+ baller is going to be a "superstar" like a Pujols, Manny, A-Rod type. Like I said, he has produced very well, but as a 19 year old in the midwest league his OPS was .843, a bit lower than Fielder's .935 at the same age and league. I thought at the time that Prince had the potential to project to be a great hitter, but there was nothing that even came close to ensuring that. 19 year-old Delmon Young had an OPS of .968 in over a half season at AA. 18 year-old Griffey had a 1.006 OPS at A+. Like I said, Maybin has been a very good player, but he's nowhere near being in uncharted territory.
  23. Like others said, call around. Even with towing, if you could pay $283 plus 2 hours of labor at $50/hr, you're saving $517 - way less than you'd pay to tow it elsewhere. If you have the other mechanic tow it, they'll usually cut you a deal for having the work done there. The difference between a manufacturer part and a quality Autozone part is typically negligible.
  24. What do you guys think, should "eating for the cycle" require that you eat all five sausages or should it remain the traditional four to be more equivalent to hitting for the cycle? The Chorizo is the BB in this scenario. I'd say you wouldn't need it for the cycle, but it makes it look even more impressive. If they ever offer a veggie sausage, that'd be reaching on an error.
