  1. Most guys who can even be slightly-crappy at third can handle corner OF, provided they have acceptable speed. Plus, if he hits well enough, we need to remember that Prince may very well ride the Boras money parade right out of town in a few years and leave us with a 1B hole.
  2. It's ironic that a potentially-big injury happens on the same night Kerry Wood comes back.
  3. They'd seem more likely to have slowed down orders of all players who could possibly be traded so they wouldn't be left with a surplus. That way, you're not sitting there on September 1, 2006 with thousands of dollars worth of Carlos Lee merchandise. This may be an example of the telephone game where someone said "the shirts of guys with expiring contracts who may be traded will not be ordered until later on", which turned into "Jenkins shirts won't be ordered because he is a possible trade chip", which turned into "Jenkins will be traded so his shirts are gone".
  4. I'd think that in situations like this there would always be an employee nearby who you could leave her with.
  5. I've always been a huge Hart fan and could never understand the minority here who thought he'd never amount to anything. I and several others went so far as to say he'd have a good shot at replacing Carlos Lee's numbers. So far this season, He trails Lee's OPS .873 to .870 - a huge gap. Plus he actually plays defense and runs very well.
  6. His age is obviously his biggest asset right now. Seriously, though, if he had been drafted at 22 out of college in '05 and this were only his second full year in the minors, would we be as quick to dismiss him and his .815 OPS at AAA? I agree his future is most likely not a starting player, but he's young enough not to write off. I'd like to at least see what he does next year before making a final determination.
  7. One more question/suggestion: is there a way to make "stay in topic" unchecked by default? It's nice to simply go back to the forum instead of backing out.
  8. I typed something longer about big post size and wasted space at the bottom, but it was eaten by the internet as I was prompted to log in again and then got a message that this thread was moved. Anyway, I'll echo requests to shrink overall post size - it makes scanning a page much harder and time-consuming.
  9. Creepy. Feels like AIM!!!!!!! ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need 2 lern 2 chaynj the font syz!http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif
  10. Did no IGT really ruin anyone's life? I can still get the same enjoyment out of a game without: PRINNNCEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGGH, not Turnbow!
  11. By this time, most activity has usually been announced, but there may be a few more deals that don't come across the wire until this evening. Sometimes the deal has been submitted but not announced for various reasons. I wouldn't hold my breath, except for maybe a minor David Bell type deal.
  12. I wouldn't count on type A status for Gagne at all. Like endaround said, his last few seasons were destroyed by injury, so he could very well be type B.
  13. pay the money for the sports channels. it is worth it. i mean why else get hd unless you want to get all of the channels? Yeah, the problem is that in my case, my cable bill would go from like $105 to $117 and I'd still only get Twins and Vikings games. Now, if I got Brewers and Packers games in HD, I'd gladly part with the 12 bucks. Of course, the only Packers games I'll get (aside from Sunday night), will be available with my antenna. Another piece of advice I can give as a recent Plasma buyer is don't listen to salesman and get duped into $125 cables, especially HDMI. Just buy the cheap ones and look around and you'll be fine. I got THX Monster component video cables for $12 shipped through amazon, while those would be like $80 at Best Buy. My tech nerd friends explained that with HDMI, you have an all-or-nothing signal, so if it works, it works as well as the $130 model.
  14. HD is free from Time Warner (well close to it, its $1 more a month in equipmental rental). That gets you all local stations in HD (including 18 and 24), TNT, ESPN, ESPN2, Discovery, PBS, and FSN. Wow, yeah, don't get an antenna when you can get it that cheap. That makes me more upset that my area switched from TW to Comcast a while back. Comcast charges $7 a month for local channels plus Fox Sports and Discovery. Additional channels (ESPN, etc) cost another $5 on top of that. In my case, the local channels would be $84 a year, while the antenna was $26 shipped.
  15. I wouldn't still need the hd antenna if i have the HD channels for Time Warner would I? No, but cable providers charge more for HD channels, while you can get em free with an antenna, Now, if you want more than just the local channels in HD, then you have to get your provider's HD package.
  16. I can't help with a TV in that price range, but in general, I'll tell you that you must immediately buy an upconverting DVD player and HDTV (UHF) antenna.
  17. Somebody will trade for him. The guy has been above average for the previous 2 years. They may not get much, but I'd be shocked if they don't get a return.
  18. I think it works for both teams. Teixeira is the clear-cut best player involved, and isn't going anywhere until after 2008. However, the Rangers are going to suck through 2008 anyway, so they needed to trade him at some point. I'll need to know more about the pitching prospects to say if they got enough, though.
  19. Another idiot. I love how people who are too dumb to understand numbers say that all of us who use stats are nerds who never played sports. I for one, was both co-captain of my football team and tested out of college math. Another of our captains is now a lawyer, and I used to box with a PhD candidate (I believe it was in chem). You don't need to be an illiterate boob to play sports.
  20. What I don't understand is how this should effect his status as a prospect as I'm reading from a lot of you guys. The big thing for me is that he's gonna be missing 50 games. When that's gonna happen for any reason, you have to be concerned, as he'll miss a ton of reps and practice that a young developing player desperately needs.
  21. Canseco, by far, has shown he has the most credibility on this issue than anyone. Exactly. He's been doing it solely for attention and selfish reasons, but he's also been right on the money it would seem.
  22. I'm another voice on the side of "what the bejesus was Melvin thinking?". The first thing I thought of was what Brian said: he's trending downward and not doing well away from a pitcher's park this year. Replace Inman with Gywnn or Gross, or two lesser prospects and I'm happy, but this was too much to pay for Linebrink at this point. Of course, if we make the playoffs and he has some success, you probably come back and say it's worth it, but that's a probabilistic outcome I'm not thrilled to have gotten for 3 solid young arms.
  23. This is really funny to look back on. It's crazy when you think of the things that once drove you insane that you'd totally forgotten about and aren't even a minor issue anymore.
  24. Take the practice exam right away and if knock it out of the park, you know you don't need to prepare as much.
  25. to be in the minority and to be verbally abused, I'm not surprised at all, who has that picture of him flexing with his shirt off? That's exactly the first thing I thought. He may very well be a genetic freak, but when I saw those pics I remember thinking "who the heck looks like that as a high school kid? That ain't supposed to happen." As for Mass's question, I'd say he should drop no further than 11 or 12. Even that may seem harsh, but I'd drop any guy who's going to miss 50 games for any reason quite a ways. Keep in mind that I haven't followed some of the other guys enough in recent weeks to know how they should rise or fall around Salome. Edit: I guess Thatcher and Gamel could be bumped up while I'd send Cain and Gillespie down a could notches.
