  1. "Milwaukee Brewers baseball: It's the way we play"
  2. Another year of this crap and we'll be back in the #1 farm system seat. Of course, Hart, Hardy, Fielder and Krynzel will be in the bigs so we'll need a few good drafts to restock, but Jack Z. can do pretty good things when he's handed high draft position.
  3. I'd pass on him too with those kind of demands. Once again, I don't understand how they think they could get more money by waiting another year. And of course, it's not about the money, right? This may sound pretty cold-hearted, but I always hope in the back of my mind that guys like that hit a wall Rick Ankiel style or get injured. When a guy is offered market value and scoffs at it, I won't feel sorry for him when he gets hurt and drops to the 5th round the next year.
  4. I'm Alex Sanchez gritty. Where will that get me???? Traded to Detroit for nuggets we'll get rid of in a few months.
  5. I like that Branyan seems to be able to recognise strikes and balls (unlike Jenkins). Russ Ks swinging at strikes and he walks NOT swinging at balls... and every once in a while, when he connects... wow. He is a good ball player. That's the same observation I've made watching Branyan, and it makes the strikeout totals a lot more bearable. Of course, the high HR totals help a lot, but you can't get too down on a guy who swings and misses at pitches that were actually strikes like you do with guys who strikeout hacking away at a ball in the dirt.
  6. I believe I'm developing a very serious "man-crush" on Russel Branyan here. If we don't re-sign him in the off-season, I may very well need a 12 step recovery program. I developed the man-crush awhile ago, welcome to the club. I am slightly worried about whether or not he'll be re-upped this winter. A guy we just got for free may have already priced himself out of Milwaukee by proving that he may be worth a million a year (gasp!). Also, with Yost's love for Helms, you'd have to figure that Branyan may rather sign for another team at the same price because he may be a little peeved at Ned or worried that he'll rot on the bench all year long. We need a little divine intervention from Melvin: cut Helms and make it clear that Branyan is our guy, we can't leave it up to Yost.
  7. I feel dirty saying this, but with so many overworked guys in the pen, it would've been nice to have Matt Kinney around today.
  8. Just ridiculous. You have a young pitcher making his first major league start and you choose not to put the offense out there to give him a shot at winning. This Wes Helms crap has to end, and I hope people start calling for Yost's job if it continues much longer.
  9. Like jwaltz, I got status because of crazy grit. Being a big Norwegian dude with no speed gets instant veteran status, especially if you post while hurt, or throw out a lot of Yost cliches.
  10. Sheets had a 4.76 era his first season, give the guy some time, rookie pitchers get lit up. There's no reason to make any judgements until he's made at least 5 o 6 more starts (which even then will be premature) since guys rarely find their groove in their first game after being called up (unless they're facing the crew).
  11. Childers wasn't easily replaced, which is an important consideration, and he was also a successful relief option in case of injury or ineffectiveness. Did we really need Peter Bergeron this badly? Couldn't Chris Magruder have filled that fourth outfield spot just as well? I agree, you shouldn't let go of depth for free (I consider Bergeron free), otherwise we may as well only have 5 minor league teams since we always have close to a roster's worth of filler. As Brewers fans we should know that shoulders are made of paper and elbows of cardboard and that our pitchers can all go on the DL at any time. Trading guys for nothing even if they'll only be needed in an emergency is still just pointless.
  12. Is Sheets on path to post the best season for a SP in 'Crew history Cetainly the best in modern (bad) Brewers history. I never thought I'd see a pitcher this dominant in a Brewers uniform again until the team was sold. Not that I don't trust the farm system, but guys who pitch like Sheets has this year don't come around that often, and often don't dominate until their early FA years.
  13. It appears that the 40oz Schlitz malt liquor is once again bringing gangsta-ass success to the Brewers. This practice may turn me into an alcoholic, but I will do it during every big game.
  14. mothership... you're a poet. That was beautiful. Though I may have failed in college while trying to recreate the magical styles of Coleridge and Wordsworth, it's good to know that my stylings in the Scarface, Willie D, and Bushwick Bill genre will be remembered for at least 3 minutes. By the way, I was drunk when I made that post, seems to be a recurring theme with all this free time on my hands. Tonight's swill of coice was a 40 oz Schlitz Malt Liquor. In light of the success the Crew had while I was drinking said malt liquor, I hereby promise that in the spirit of "gangsta up" I will drink a 40 every day that the Brewers are going for a sweep for the rest of the season (however, I don't smoke weed, so someone else will have to carry out that facet of gangstadom for me). See, superstition can be fun!
  15. Does anyone else picture Vic chillin' in the dugout kickin' back to "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta'"? Maybe wearing a Hawaiian shirt buttoned halfway down, some khaki shorts, dock shoes, and a giant gold chain hanging from his neck? Dude is a thug. Straight up. I'm right with ya Bill. Victor Santos has showed us over the past few months that pimpin' IS easy, and those were Stacy Adams gator skin shoes he had on, or maybe a pair of Ben Shermans (made in Compton). Maybe Scarface can offer a little insight into Victors impeccable record at night: "Up 365, and yo 24/7, cuz real gangsta-ass Brewers don't sleep." Speaking of pimps, Gary Bennett needs one, he hits like a brokedown ho. Chasing Prior out of the game that early: "Now all I got to say to you wanna-be gonna-be Sosa lovin', Bartman-blaming prankstas: when Ben Grieve goes deep what the F you gonna do? Damn it feels good to be a gangsta".
  16. That's beautiful Greg, "Gangsta Up" is going national, that way we'll finally get some attention from ESPN. From that same verse, Lyle Overbay has proven he is a gangsta since real gangstas don't run fast, thus confirming that Podsednik is not a real gangsta and confirming what I knew all along: Eddie Perez is the grand daddy of all O.G.'s. Anyone else notice how ESPN had to say "most were there to see the Cubs" when stating the attendance figures on Sports Center tonight? We need catchy slogans to pop up so this team gets a little more attention.
  17. After 4 miserable games, Sheets had to have been walking into the clubhouse saying: "Cuz now I got the world swingin' from my ---. And damn it feels good to be a gangsta"
  18. You apparently just haven't shown battling veteran grit yet. Try thinking of each thread as a battle, where you must show how tenaciously gritty you are, then Ned, yes he controls the designations, will make you a regular.
  19. Being a pessimist myself, I too am surpirsed that people are so shocked and disappointed that the crew lost. I mean, it's always very upsetting to lose 2 in a row to a mediocre team. However, that mediocre team is really hot, and playing at home where they have owned us for the last several years. I'm mad that they lost, but the Brewers losing to the pirates shouldn't come as much of a surprise anymore. You can throw records out the window like Packers-Vikings matchups when these two teams play.
  20. Nice to see Ben Grieve sucking out there again. I wish our other three outfielders sucked as much as him... that would be so cool. Grieve was droppin it like it's hot today: straight gangsta mack.
  21. flu = code for hungover Flu=code for smokin hot girlfiend called and said "scotty, I'm in Denver today and have a suite with a hot tub and mirrored walls and ceilings".
  22. Gorman Thomas hit on my mom when she took me to get his autograph at London Square Mall in EC.
  23. Anyone else starting to get just a little uneasy about Gallardo? It's not like it has been forever, but the Crew has seemed pretty aggressive in signing early picks thus far and he's still unsigned.
  24. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif Holy crap man, I was just throwing out an absurd guess. If anyone ever didn't believe those who claim we consume too much un-needed junk in this country, I give you the lemur bobblehead. If they sell more than a hundred of those, it's a sure sign that either the economy is recovering, or we've all gone insane.
  25. Looks like a lemur bobblehead doll.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
