  1. That and the highest paid player on the team has been dealing with chronic back injuries for a decade now and said his back felt better a week after surgery than it had since his mid 20s. For a guy on pace to have a 25/50 type season with a 900+ OPS...that's a helluva addition. Mitchell, a player I admittedly have reservations about, but he's posted an 800 OPS now over 116 career games. Frelick, Turang, Ortiz, Black, Quero, also young guys who could(should) be better or help out next year. If there was a year to push that payroll a bit...to add another 10-14M and maybe touch 145, it'd be next year. I just don't buy the "there's no schedule," stuff. There clearly is and it coincides with Chourio emerging, Quero, Misiorowski and then that aforementioned group all with a little time under their belts, PLUS....this bullpen should be just overwhelming. I hate the way the season ended and it feels...inevitable, but it's not. Chourio was a 14-year-old kid when were were playing the Dodgers to go to the WS. He could care less about the series since then. Give me ONE more .800 OPS 3B/2B or hell, at least just a competent bat and I think we'll have enough. We'll have those 1-5 hitters, fill in around them and then have a LOT of power arms to throw at teams. And then beyond that, we're probably a year away from the next wave of prospects hitting Milwaukee, sometime in '26 for guys like Wilken, Pratt and who the hell knows, Made could force himself in that group or Adams, whoever. It's just coming in waves now. I 100% understand how you can be pissed off the way the season has ended. I don't know how you can call it an organizational failure when guys like Devin Williams or Josh Hader are the ones getting hit or Corbin Burnes getting beat up an dof couse, every year there's an injury. And then there's the fluke luck. Hader has blown at least 2 games, Williams 2. You were literally one pitch away from wining any of 3 games vs the Braves, the D-Backs we had what seemed like 7 or 8 pitches hit over 100MPH that didn't get out of the IF while they nickel and dimed us to death. They're not excuses, like I said, I get it. But it this era of Brewers baseball isn't "good enough" for you...consistently being there year in and year out while you're actively IMPROVING the outlook of this team moving forward, then how many teams would you be happy rooting for? The Dodgers? Sure, if we were the LAD, we could add Burnes, Soto and Bregman, while bringing back Adames. Hell, we'd still have room to spare. 50M+30M+25+25, we could go into next year under the luxury. But that's not how MLB works, so perhaps we should enjoy the wave of young talent we have and hope we keep stacking 90-96 win teams, those bloopers will go in our direction. That line drive DP with 2 on vs the Braves in the 9th will find a hold and we'll have a shot at taking the lead. We get 6 months of good baseball consistently I won't let a pitch in 5-6 games change that. We've got a better team coming back. I'll watch the Brewers pretty much every night next year and hope our young studs can write a new ending. That simple. Loved this season and this team and Ill enjoy next years as well. Hopefully more!
  2. I was a little surprised when I looked at the stats...but then I looked at Gary and they said he had a 25% pass rush win rate vs the Rams, so....I don't know. We're certainly not dominating the LOS on either side of the ball and we were last year. On the Love pick 6, they brought a guy off the edge and we just didn't pick them up well. That's tough play for Love. He got hit and he's just trying to fling it out of bounds, but they ended up bringing 5. We kept Jacobs in(he did get a good chip). So I see your point. These "grades" aren't the end all. They're one piece, but I think the OL has to be better. Defensively, If Dexter Lawrence actually was on the block...I think I'd give up two picks for him though. The Rams slid their protection toward Gary never every play...meaning they're just not scared of anyone else. Lawrence is playing damn near a prime Aaron Donald level(which is why he won't be traded most likely)...but a player like that really changes your entire team. But damn, this should be a top 5 defense. We get the safeties and the DL falls apart. And I've seen the "it takes time to go from one scheme to another," and I do not buy that. If we were going from a 4-3 to a 3-4, maybe. But we're not. This should be a relatively easy transition. Last year we were 2-5 after the Vikings dog walked us, so...it's early....but ugly.
  3. That's funny, I was just thinking the OL has been pretty impressive...albeit not vs the best fronts in the game, but they've all been good in pass protection except for Myers. Walker had a lot of penalties early on, but he's been better. Rhyan has been good in pass-blocking. I guess we'll find out more about the OL as the year goes on, but they've held up pretty well. Detroit, SF, they'll be better indicators. I also wish we had a FB or another H-Back. I get a little worried Kraft can't take this level of punishment and he's become too important. I still believe in Musgrave, but they're very different types of players.
  4. I don't think the change should have necessitated anything. He was ~15 pounds bigger than Bosa as a 3-4 edge. If he's gained weight...and it's hard for me to tell if he has or not, then it is on him. The problem is, we've got a lot of talented pass rushers and not one of those players who played vs the Rams has improved. In fact, they're all CLEARLY worse. Maybe someone else can tell me what type of One-Gape 4-3 Defense where you're playing man on the backend...are you not trying to get your DL up-field and just let them come after the QB. Our secondary has played well, even excluding McKinney. People are upset with Nixon and he's never been my favorite, but if you line him up in the slot vs a guy like Atwell, then give Stafford 3 seconds...he's gonna give up yards. If you put him outside vs Jefferson and it takes a perfect pass to beat him, he' done his job. You don't expect him to lock a guy up like Jaire or even Stokes. Through 5 games I feel alright about this team. Not great. They're a solid team. If the DL doesn't start playing like you expect them to, I don't see this team being able to win in the post-season.
  5. You pretty much nailed everything else, but the intermediate game is...Wicks dropping balls, Doubs throwing a fit(that's where he's used) and...Musgraves. Wicks I believe will figure it out. Doubs...I really hope does. Melton -I hope the big catches/games last year weren't the best we see from him as he looked really good. Musgrave -I don't need him to improve like Kraft has, but he was a BIG part of the offense last year and he's so long and athletic and...not getting the ball. That group needs to step up. I'm happy the ball to Reed was a catch, but that was 1st down, right? That's a bad decision. The pick 6 I'm actually fine with. He's out of the pocket(but in the EZ) and he's trying to just throw it away, he gets hit... as Forrest says, 'it happens.' improve. Also...Christian Watson is a HUGE piece of this offense. I don't care if he has 2 catches for 60 yards, he opens that defense up. I'm not entirely sure why given how little he's proven, but watching how many guys are zeroing in on Watson when he's in vs the defense when he's out, it's a big difference. I also think I'd give up 2 1sts and a kidney after watching Dexter Lawrence AGAIN just dominate and win that game for the Giants.
  6. This team playing at THIS level is not a competitor. Even walking up and putting 6 on the LOS isn't doing much for Clark or Gary. Wyatt was the only consistent threat. He'll be back. It's 5 games now. They're good players so I feel like they'll figure it out, but...they've been just bad. And then you're playing man on the backend and you don't have Jaire, Nixon is in Man coverage, sometimes against player like Justin Jefferson...gotta have Jaire OR Gary, Clark, LVN and something out of Enagbare/Preston. I don't think you can rely on McKinney getting picks. You can apply the same thing to the WRing core. Doubs was pouting, Watson is injured(this time it's a fluke). Wicks has been bad. Melton non-existent. Kraft and Reed have been great, but Musgraves is also not showing up. Maybe it's Love who just hasn't been real sharpe...I don't know, but not a great start to the year. The 3-4 was better than this and there's no world you should get more pass rush from your DL in a 3-4 vs a 4-3 unless you're playing conservative vs a Lamar or Richardson, Hurts(Which we did for two weeks). I'm also hoping we hear that Gary has been hurt. Clark... he always plays well in December, I feel find there, but I don't want to rely on a LB/Slot blitzing to create pressure.
  7. He was a no-show to practice and he said nothing. He gets no benefit of the doubt and I actually don't think Kurt has connections inside the locker room. I trust the people who do this for a living at this point. Kurt was a player, so it's not an insult, but he's constantly defending players vs the franchise when when they're wrong. You no show for your job in the NFL....that's a big deal. Glad it wasn't a family emergency(though, they almost always have an agent communicate that and then they excuse the absence). I think Watson is going to be missed a lot. Just watch the plays the ball doesn't go to him and he's constantly got two men on him(which is a problem as despite that and him being healthy the first 3+ games, we haven't gotten the passing game going). But Doubs is more than a #4. A #3 is a very valuable pick, so I don't think the Chiefs do that either, but I think that Doubs is a very talented player. I think he's got some Greg Jennings to his game, he's smart, he finds the open spot. I get the Lazard comp, but as a WR, route runner, pass catcher, he's better. Lazard was a goon who could play almost a hybrid TE/WR role. I think both of these are losses, but Doubs was preventable. Though, somehow Watson isn't ruled out for tomorrow's game yet(while Wyatt is). Obviously, he won't play, but interesting that he's merely doubtful.
  8. I don't know...he seems like Carlson. He's better relative to the league the further away he is! It's not like Narveson has missed the 55 yard kicks. I'm convincing myself that Carlson was a product of his own lack of confidence, BUT then equally the bad snaps and holds(he missed plenty on his own to be clear, but some of the big ones were the later).
  9. You give the kid a chance to turn it around, but if there's anything else, you're getting rid of him. A 4th to...the Ravens or the Browns, whoever. Jaire made a stupid move last year and while I don't think it was a huge deal in terms of him acting out, he got the message and recommitted to this young team. Doubs, when he's getting the ball throwing a fit? Nah, he's a nice WR, but not that nice. Watch Bo Melton with a couple of big catches. I expect Wicks to lead the way and then I'd LOVE to see a return to Musgrave down the seam, Kraft running those option routes and then blowing people up. Obviously it'd be great to see the running game going, but I think it's important to get Love in a flow this game. I'd pick the Packers for my team in this survivor pool I'm in, but we do not do well traveling to the West Coast. Hell, it's why I'm thinking about taking the Jags over the Colts. The Colts have lost like 9 straight in Jax...if not more.
  10. I've tried to do this 3 or 4 times, but this site keeps locking up on me. Anyone else have this problem? It's only for Brewers fan or maybe an online shopping thing from time to time... Just curious.
  11. He gave up 3 ERs this year. 2 ERs came on one of the 3 times he pitched in Back to Backs, that was on August 15th vs the Cards. Is the inference you should have taken that into account before throwing him out there last night? That's a helluva reach if so. That's one outing that went into extras vs the Cards early back from coming off the DL.
  12. They don't have to be. EBJ has been a bust thus far, but he's still young and versatile, also has exceptionally quick hands, looks good in the field. Seems lost at the plate, but maybe a healthy year he could rebuild his prospect value. Jadher Areinamo at 20 is coming off a .301.349.442 .791 line at age 20 in HiA. They don't have to be our SS of the future...they can provide value in a number of ways. Areinamo could...be a big piece in a trade, he could be a utility player. You really don't have too many Catchers, SS's or Pitchers. Or really any position, but those three in particular.
  13. Ok...so Williams might negate Moncada's contract. Goldschmidt...what do you expect he'll get? I don't think it's all that likely with Hoskins coming back(and the gap between the two offensively...pretty small this year)...but if you could get him to come to Milwaukee and get him to do so for 10-12M, maybe 14-16 with the Mutual Options that won't be picked up...but I'm a bit skeptical they're going to make two medium-sized signings. I'm not sure they'll make two signings like that, but I'd be thrilled with one.
  14. Yeah...no, I said I wouldn't COUNT on the guys in AA. That's what I said about the AA group...but I'm not sure Martinez is closer than Boeve. .306/.374/.447 in his first year in the system. First full year. Certainly, players who've done less have come up from AA to make an impact that next season. I hope Martinez can make it also. He's an exciting player, but...he seems to be very streaky. And then Wilken. Again, I said I wouldn't count on any of these guys, but he got hit in the face and still at least held his own. Start him in AA next year and maybe he can contribute at some point. Once you're in AA, you're within striking distance(save for maybe Pratt as he was just moved up for a game EOY). There just aren't a lot of options to fill in. AS for Turang, I don't really ascribe to the belief that changing positions impacts your offense. Turang's a SS his whole life. Whoever they decide to move, I'm fine with...but again, just seems like 2B is MORE likely to be where you find the best available player. I actually think Collins, Dunn, Monastario...those are the types who could be starting on opening day.
  15. Yeah...that's a HUGE factor. You'd think these guys would understand that. I'm sure a lot of players want more balls. Reed has earned them. Wicks was the guy I thought would break out(I still think he can) but then it's still Watson(the first few weeks) who really does change the offense just by being out there. but then Melton, Doubs, Kraft and Musgrave, all of them have and can play significant roles. So you're 4 games into the year, 2 games with a very specific, dedicated game plan around Willis so now exactly just airing it out, and Jesus, give Love a LITTLE time. He's gotten the ball to Doubs, but everyone's right. He hasn't done nearly enough to be acting like this. I THINK he could be a 1000-1200 yard 8-12 TD guy on a different team where he's higher in the pecking order, but he's not proven he can be yet. This is not the type of crap we need on this team. We need Love and the offense to get into a groove and then maybe our edge rushers to...rush the edge. Not big egos. I'd be thinking about shipping him out... You can't just skip practice in the NFL. I get it, he's eligible for an extension after this year, but... you can guarantee you're not going to be paid if you just no-show to practice.
  16. 3B then. Ortiz to SS, Turang to SS, it's not a big difference IMO. I wouldn't really count on any of them too much for next year. The guy the Mets rolled out at 2B. If his inflated BA this year doesn't raise his price too much, he's an option. Otherwise, Suarez is ideal. I have very little confidence in Ernesto, though he's a fun guy to watch.
  17. This was what I was coming here to post. It seems unlikely, but...who knows. I do believe Devin Williams has tremendous value in a trade. I also believe that a pitcher who relies on hitters chasing as much as Williams...is more likely to get hit in bigger spots. When hitters are really zeroed in...like the playoffs. Trade Williams, he's going to be a FA and you're not going to offer him ~20M on a QO anyway as you won't want him to take it. So either to start the year or at the deadline(which might be worse because now you're back in Hader territory). But we've assembled a staff that should be able to overcome his loss in the regular season(and I actually think be better) and he's been shite in the post-season anyway.
  18. What's it mean? It means...this year was supposed to be a down year. Next year was supposed to be the START of a window where we should have more star caliber players. Not much for Bats? I don't know...I disagree. Jefferson Quero, he was a top ~20 prospect. Cooper Pratt, Jesus Made, Bitonti, Wilken...not guys I'd count on for next year, but guys who are on their way. But for the near future, I think a full year of Chourio(his progression has been pretty linear), Turang, Ortiz, Frelick, Mitchell, Black, Quero could make an impact at some point next year. Wilken, Boeve, they could also easily make an impact next year. Or not, I don't know, but it's the young core and then the pitching staff that gives me confidence. But if you really want to feel like ****, you can. It sucked. I thought this team was very similar to the 2010 Packers(I guess maybe having that MVP like Yelich is the big difference). So...it's gut wrenching. But I'm pretty confident that we're going to have an overpowering pen next year, good starters. I'm hoping for 25 starts and 140 innings from Woody and hoping he can be the pitcher he was. I don't think it's unreasonable given his past, but even if he's not, I think we'll round out the rotation around Peralta, Civale, Myers, Ashby, Hall. The Back of the pen with Mears, not because of his outing tonight, but that showed what he's capable of, but just being in the pen for a year. But Mears, Hudson when he gets his velo back, Megill, Uribe, Herberg, Koenig, Yoho, Misiorowski I expect to start in AAA, be someone who gets a couple breaks, but can be an impact pitcher next year, and then if it's Williams or not, I don't know. Another kick to the groin is this video where Jomboy talks about him tipping pitches and how the Mets knew what was coming. But mostly, I just have faith in these young dudes. They were unfazed. Chourio was awesome, Turang was great. I know people don't want to hear this right now, but Turang/Chourio/Yelich/Contreras/Mitchell/Hoskins/Frelick/Ortiz/ 2B or 3B
  19. Yeah...if the Rays would do that, I'd make that trade. I'm not sure they do though. This is why I'm moving Turang to SS(most likely). Easier to find a 2B than a 3B. It's really hard to care right now, but...I'm trying to remember the young talent we have that doesn't care about the history...and they played...mostly well this post-season.
  20. What does that trade address? We pay more for a pitcher who's...way down the list of potential starters for the Brewres and we get a backup catcher when we clearly made an effort to keep Haase on the 40 man for next year as a bridge to Jefferson Quero. All so we can pay more to have to fill 1B/DH by losing a guy who's put up a line of .242/.353/.492 with an .846 OPS and 36 HR/98 RBI per 162 games...for his career before this year. So...if you're going to choose a pitcher who was terrible, when we've got a whole slew of arms and develop pitchers as well as any team in the league, or a 1B/DH, a position we have NOT developed very well, I don't see why we'd make that move. Hoskins is going to be on the team next year...and I think it's as likely he comes back and at least hits .230/.330 with 25+HRs. Where are we going to replace that AND Adames? Adames I'd say you'd replace with Yr 2 Chourio and Yelich for a full year(basically what would have been a full year of MVP caliber play this year). But is Montgomery even an upgrade over Ashby, Hall, Miley should he choose to come back, Gasser by mid-season, Myers, Rodriguez, Clarke, Civale, Peralta and what will invariably be a couple more young pitchers we pick up? The 2nd basemen we just faced. He'll be a FA. That's a guy we could bring in. Black, Boeve, Monastario, Wilken...maybe, but we don't need a lot. Just let the young guys step up. We're doing too much in these to just make a move for the sake of making a move IMO.
  21. Uribe. Uribe is one of the guys who goes overlooked. Yeah, he's erratic, but I think you need guys like him and Megill. Overpowering, fiery relievers who can beat you with a FB that misses it's spot. This loss was brutal, but I thought the Brewers window was opening next year, not this year. Woodruff is not Nelson. Nelson had a completely torn rotator cuff and needed reconstructive surgery. Yelich said his back felt better day after the surgery. Hall, Ashby, Misiorowski, Yoho...Mears pitching in the Brewers system for a full year should help him. Turang and our young Superstar Chourio were good. I have little doubt we'll be back next year....but this was a kick in the nuts either way.
  22. THEE MOST predictable thing...is you predicting year in and year out, month in and month in the record thread, out how terrible the Brewers are going to be, and then you going away when they win 90+ games only to pop up the last game of the season and do your little schtick.
  23. I'm saying I wouldn't have thought it was that good before looking...but less was asked of him. 4 attempts of 40+ and 1 from 50+ Carlson had 8(4 of 8) and (3 of 5) respectively. I really think the best available option is a former Packers kicker. We'll give Narveson another game...maybe he'll turn it around. Maybe it's like a pitcher, just needs to make a slight adjustment, but it's gonna really suck to see this team lose because of a kicker.
  24. This is...ridiculous. Murphy couldn't have handled this game any better.
  25. Yeah...I don't wish injuries on a guy, but I wouldn't mind if he hurt his elbow for sticking it out there on a pitch 2 inches inside.
