Yeah, Haase was a great signing...they very clearly prioritized keeping him on the roster to back up Contreras in '25. I'd actually anticipate the team starting Contreras less next year. He wore down. People keep saying the payroll will go down, maybe. I really have zero doubt that Attanasio would go higher if it meant adding a real difference-maker. It's the length that is usually the issue. And I agree, 3B is the only significant need(or 2B, I really don't think it matters a ton which IF gets moved to SS as they're both really good). Utility would also be nice, but even there I think we're good enough with what we've got. BP, Rotation, both look better to me moving forward.

I agree...but it is disappointing how he and Rock don't line up that much. I love when BA is giving Rock crap...like the mouthy little Brother. Hoping I get to like Dillard a bit more. (I meant Rottino).

I don't know if they have club teams, but I know UCLA, USC, Washington and Oregon don't have Wrestling programs. But I'm talking about the number of Football teams. The number of scholarships are almost irrelevant at this point. Even in a little niche sport, the schools that have Wrestling in the Big 10, they have out NIL money for the top recruits. Iowa, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, Minnesota, are spending a couple of million on NIL deals or they'll pay guys to train at their regional training center. So they don't get a scholarship, but they don't pay for school either. Wisconsin has actually had as much HS talent as any state in the Country the past few years, but for a couple reasons, NONE of them are going to Madison. It's no different than CBB, just on a smaller scale. You get a guy from Arkansas Little Rock who turns into a stud and the top programs will go after them. It's all pretty silly and I can't imagine giving a College a couple million for Wrestling, but perhaps if I had tens of millions, I'd feel differently. To your previous point though, yes, they have fewer scholarships than the number of participants needed. Wrestling has 9.9 available. They'd maybe give out a couple full scholarships to the absolute top recruits. If you have a program like Iowa or Minnesota, what they did back before paying a guy was legal, they would make so much money off the camps, they'd pay the Wrestlers who'd have success, they'd then lose their scholarship, pay for school themselves and still come out ahead. And it was legal. But just using the scholarships, very few people ever got a full, legit 100% scholarship.

Dude...some of these trades need to make sense for the other team. Why are the White Sox trading a draft pick for two players who will likely be DFA'ed by the Brewers and cost money? Do the Sox and their worst record in the modern era need a middle reliever and an expensive left-handed specialist who is coming off his worst season or do they need their picks(particularly since they're picking 10th at best? Peguero going to the 100-loss Marlins for a pick The Rockies a Comp pick and a rookie reliever for a 35-year-old depth guy making 5.5M KC gets Bauers when they have Pasquantino, a lefty who's younger and cheaper, a better 1B while having Perez who needs to DH. Not sure why they need a negative WAR replacement in Bauers. Civale does make sense as another arm for them, but...that's only if Wacha decides to leave. I like the Tigers trade...idea. Williams to Detroit, I think they will go for it. But I'd be looking for someone like Matt Vierling back. He can fill in at 3B. Devin Williams+Joel Payamps for Matt Vierling and Owen Hall. Something like that. Finally, we're doing a LOT of work to get rid of Black just to replace him with a bigger question mark and little versatility. Just keep him. If you can package players we don't want for a pick, cool, but again, just upgrading 3B and maybe adding a talented young arm who's a loong way away. But even that's a bit of a stretch. I would go after a guy like Buehler, but I wouldn't target a half-a-season starter, just a guy I think could bounce back. He was dominant and he should be healthy. Because of those reasons, If I had to, I'd guess he'd cost 1/16 given how good he's been, and he back with the Dodgers...but he's also been awful and you really need that guy like Civale and or Rea if you're going sign a pitcher like him, the high risk, high reward, while also moving Ashby to the rotation(which is still an experiment and his innings would likely be limited, as would Hall, Woodruff is a big question mark, Gasser could be back, but it won't be for many innings if at all. You're looking at MAYBE a short stint in Sept. I also like Moncada. I think he'll get ~10M a year, possibly with a 10M Mutual Option and a 2M buyout. He's a talented player and still young. Teams will roll the dice there. I just think you're reinventing the wheel. Patrick Corbin? Look at the MOUNTAIN of arms we've not only got, but we develop each year? Why are we making him a reliever with all the BP arms we've got? I'd rather give the ball to Manfredi late next year and let him figure it out. Perhaps IF the Brewers think he can become a Miley and resurrect his career as a STARTER, a non-GTD deal where he could earn 4-5M if he makes the team could make some sense, but that'd be if the team thought they could get 140 effective innings out of him because they figured something out or change his pitch mix, IDK, he's been pretty bad, but...maybe they think they can work with him. It's been known to happen. We really just need a 2B./3B. I'd LOVE to see the Brewers get a massive bonus pool of...35M, get 12 picks in the top 3 rounds, come out of the draft with 16 top 200 players, but...teams that are rebuilding don't want 30-year-old decent 7th inning relievers for 1st or 2nd rd CBA picks. We're also spending quite a bit more. If Moncada signs for 5 million, he'll have chosen us over the line of teams that'd gladly take him at that price. Again, we don't need a roster overhaul, just some fine-tuning, getting the RIGHT fit in at 3rd, maybe a reclamation project(Buehler is aiming really high and...actually the one arm worth the risk IMO). But hey, a lot of...interesting ideas.

Yes. Braun because of his PED thing, otherwise he looked poised to be a Molitor/Yount type Brewer. Yelich because...you can't say we shouldn't commit the money to Adames while advocating the Yelich extension. Yelich is 32, just had back surgery, and has 4 more years left, then they owe him...what, 2.7M for 12 years. I don't blame the franchise for either, I was in favor of both, but you don't make either deal with the benefit of hindsight. And I hope Yelich can come back and give us a good year next year, but nobody is pushing to give him 88M the next 4 years and then another 30M deferred. I agree, no, this is a terrible idea. I do think some small market teams can but they have to be selective. I think the Twins signed a good deal with Correa. So if you're going to do it, get the prime years....but that's REALLY rare for a small market team. I also don't think the payroll is necessarily going down(though...probably). This team is set up to be REALLY good next year. Even if Williams is dealt, I think the Pen will be better. The Staff should be better. If ever there was a time to spend on another bat, it'd be this year...but for a short-term bat. I'd bet Attanasio and this FO would pony up 4/200 for Soto(in some reality in which that was realistic).

If you're going to come up with a silly deal, why not use Strausburg or Scherzer or any of the deferred money that the Player would agree to... taking that 60M that you'd be deferring it and if this was ACTUALLY like the Bonilla deal, you'd pay out 300M over 30 years. Willy would also be 35 at the end of the deal, the position we're MOST stacked at right now is SS. Turang, Ortiz, then you've got guys like Pratt, Made, Pena, Di Turi, Quintana, Areinamo, EBJ as well as...so many other young prospects like Baez plays the three IF spots...Adamczewski, Bitonti might be a SS yet if not for the half of a dozen talented young SS already playing there. Of course we've also got plenty of 3B as well and that may be where Adames is best suited to play...if he were to spend another 6 years with the Brewers. But mostly bud...the Bonilla deal working out for the Mets was based initially on a literal pyramid scheme and then it has been deemed successful because the Mets went to the World Series(with the player they got because they DIDN'T pay Bonilla that year) and because of the draft pick they got for him. Otherwise...it is generally mocked and Bonilla only took it because it paid him out 30M for the 5.9M. Finally, just because Spotrac projects 6/150 doesn't mean he's getting 6/150. If we offer 6/150, the Dodgers will probably go 7/180. If we foolishly want to pay until he's 37, they'll likely go a little higher. You think you have this silver bullet and it...just doesn't make sense. If Jackson Chourio is the player we THINK he is going to be and he's 27 years old with 3 years left on his deal, he's got 300 HRs and he's been healthy and you think you may get to see him hit 500, 600, get 3,000 hits and really want to extend him, lets MAYBE then, with 7 years from now address giving Chourio a massive extension where we'll pay for millions of dollars for a player that we know is going to see a sharp decline during that period, but at least we'll get the Tigers experience of watching a player from Venezuela hit HOF type landmarks...but until then, let's keep the 30-year Bobby Bonilla deferred money plan in the back pocket!

Actually, the Bonilla deal gets mocked for bad reasons. That transaction turned out well for the Mets. They saved the ~6M dollars, they went and got Mike Hampton, they made a WS, then the comp pick they got for losing Hampton turned into Wright... Now...this suggestion is...ridiculous, but that Bonilla thing worked out well for the Mets.

If you get the Khris Middleton we got last year in the playoffs, Dame is healthy and in better shape after not protecting himself all last off-season, Giannis is healthy, Brook is the same as he was last year, Trent has a big year(which...the guy was offered 16M and turned it down) and then the defensive length we brought in, AJax, Green... I think this team has a real chance. I think they're 3rd in the East if healthy, but...good enough to beat anyone They need a lot to go right, they need big minutes from young guys to rest the vets, but they're still dangerous. And again, Middleton, Giannis and Dame healthy, Prince, Wright, AJax and Connaughton/Green coming in and hitting some 3s, they CAN definitely win another title. They can't win 2-3 like we hoped coming off the Toronto series, or even after the Suns, but they could definitely have one last run in them.

I'm more alright with Nebraska as a B1G school...it's at least in the region, style of play, etc... But that was a big part of CFB. Conferences. The Northeast(Big East, ACC), SEC, B12, wider area, B1G, much smaller area. It was what, 7 States, 10 schools, and then the soft Pac-12. In Wrestling we call the Conference Tournament the Big Tens...that makes more sense now with 20 schools from Southern Cal, to Oregon to NJ to Maryland. The Big Tens...or the Big 20. But a 20-team Big 10 is...silly.

You lose Burnes, Woodruff from the rotation and your Ks will go down. I think we pitched great. Our defense let us down and things like that happen over 3 games or a game. I don't think we need to change anything fundamentally.

I don't think anyone's said they'll do it in order to make room for Black. He's just one of MANY players I listed and after Chourio, Yelich, Mitchell, and Perkins. And I anticipate a lot of Hoskins at 1B, Yelich at DH. Black has played 2B, 3B. If the Brewers and Murphy believe this strongly that Frelick can transition back to the IF...presumably it'd be because he's the best option...so who's to say they're forcing or wedging him in there? Edit-I'm not saying we shouldn't try and address 3B via trade. I think there are a lot of trades that could do that... I'd be thrilled with Suarez, McMahon, whoever. It's probably not great if Frelick is the only or best option there. Or...maybe he moves back as Betts moved to 2B.

Yeah...just like Wisdom, when you said him I thought that was a great suggestion...but his home/road splits and the 12M/16M/16M he's owed? The Rockies would have to eat a good chunk of that. 50%. And then I'd trade them Black and maybe a guy like Payamps. Although throwing out Rockies trade proposals is stupid because...they're just incredibly poorly run and they may want immediate impact players(which...I guess that accomplishes).

I was being facetious...one player isn't going to fix the Jets. That said, the Jets have all of those things...at least on paper. The OL's only hole is RT when Moses is out and they've got a a rookie there who should get better. They've got Breece Hall and Allen who should be a good fit. Eh, he's not a good defender and in his good years he's in the low .200 and a sub .300 OBP. If he could put up the numbers for the Brewers that he puts up against the Brewers...yeah, I'd be on board. But he doesn't.

This is a guy who just had his second season in which he played a full 100 games, he's getting 12.5M next year and then 2 options at 20M per. But you don't need to make a deal for Robert Jr. He doesn't really address your IF issue...so I don't see the White Sox getting anywhere close to what you're suggesting. Black might be a reasonable deal, or Boeve...but he has very litlte value at this point. You're hoping he can get back to a couple years ago and have the 2nd season of his career where he plays over 100 games.

I don't know about we, but me does not think AZ would want to make such a trade. Lawler, I'd assume would cost much more than Black. Probably something like Black AND Pratt. So...I wouldn't be interested. I doubt they're trading a good defender at all 3 IF positions who's...performed similar to Turang(less SBs) for one year of a close. MAYBE Suarez given their lack of elite BP arms, but I don't think you'll get back an established young core player.
