  1. I they can get him for like 2 years and $14 million total, I would be OK with that. It's just when it creeps up to that 10 million/per mark that I think it's questionable.
  2. Yeah, I think part of it is they probably figure they have to hold the line "somewhere". Though Cashman's demand for the Brewers to eat some or most of Cameron's salary still seems odd.
  3. Well, the initial trade idea didn't even make that much sense. Hardy wouldn't have much appeal to KC, and still, there's not much reason for them to give up the probable Cy Young Award winner. Would be nice for the Brewers, though.
  4. He probably did it for some free Special Olympics peanut butter & jelly sandwiches or something. I read in the Onion that Counsell is hard up for sandwiches.
  5. No. I think he likes it there, and the Royals would like to make him their next George Brett; i.e. a guy who will spend all or most of his career with them and be a big draw for the fans.
  6. endaround, you're right on that one. But I would have done that package in a second. Greinke is about the best of the best right now as far as aces in MLB.
  7. I don't believe this rumor for one second, but may as well throw it on here anyway: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/273811-zack-greinke-to-milwaukee-deal-all-but-done?utm_campaign=buzztap&utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter "I heard rumors today that the Milwaukee Brewers have reached an angreement with the Kansas City Royals to acquire the rights of Zack Greinke and unknown minor leaguers for the rights of JJ Hardy, Manny Parra, Mat Gamel, and Angel Salome." Edit: Tom Haudricourt mentions on the JSOnline blog that he and Drew Olson talked about the idea of a trade like this on the D-List on 540. Sounds like the author in the link heard about it second hand. Sorry to get hopes up, if at all.
  8. I wish they'd somehow re-issue that jersey. One of my favorite Brewers jerseys (not Sheffield, just the design from that period).
  9. My guess is it will be announced on Monday or very early next week otherwise.
  10. Has Lopez come out and said anything about wanting to come back next season (like some of the other veterans)? I haven't heard anything, so my guess is that he feels he's in line for more than a one year deal, probably elsewhere. I think the most likely scenario is that the Brewers offer him arbitration and he turns it down. It's just too bad we don't know if we can count on Rickie Weeks next year.
  11. I doubt Cashman is really kicking himself...Melky Cabrera ended up having a pretty decent year, at a much lower price. Granted, the money probably doesn't matter to them. I do agree that the market for Cameron probably can't be that high at this point. Look at last off-season...guys like Bobby Abreu had to settle for one year deals in the $5 million range.
  12. That was one boring ALCS game, IMHO. The NLCS has been much more exciting so far.
  13. I don't think anyone who has come out in favor of retaining Cameron has given how they would pay for any decent pitching (which this team desperately needs, as everyone knows). If he is going to cost around $10 million again next year, they will not be able to even trade for anyone of significant value, unless it's a gamble on a low ceiling prospect type.
  14. The audio balance has seemed a bit off all night for some reason. Great game so far, though.
  15. By the time I got into wrestling in the late '80s, Captain Lou was pretty much gone from WWF, but I remembered seeing him in the "Rock & Wrestling" cartoon. I remember he came back in the mid-90's managing the Headshrinkers (Fatu and Samu) to the tag titles. Fun stuff. Oh, and of course I remember him as Mario. He lived longer than a lot of wrestling people do these days, so good for him. RIP.
  16. That would probably be more realistic, possibly. I could see Suppan/McGehee(or Hart) for Lowe/pitching prospect, like you said.
  17. Hate to bring this one up now, but one of my favorites was Bill Hall and the rest of the team running off the field into the clubhouse, after that walk off win against the Cardinals.
  18. Are the Braves really THAT desperate to clear salary? Lowe still has value as a player, where Suppan barely has any. I have my doubts they would part with him for so little.
  19. Kind of like JMF, I have a retro logo Brewers cap I wear backwards, because it was a gift from my wife and she bought it probably a size too big. It looks fine if I wear it backwards, but goofy if I wear it "the right way."
  20. "Pick one, buy it, set it up and enjoy it." This is actually good advice. I would also advise to not go to various message boards after you buy your set and post "Did I buy the right one?" type questions. You'll drive yourself insane. I mean, seriously, I've been on message boards where someone bought a TV in excess of two grand, and were belabouring whether they should exchange it. "It's really good, I'm really happy with it, but am I missing new feature XYZ???" Just enjoy your new TV and be happy!
  21. I'm the opposite. My wife has about three pairs herself.
  22. The frustrating thing with Lowe is that we would be trading for a guy who could have helped as a FA last off-season. But if something can be worked out at a reasonable cost, I still wouldn't be opposed to bringing him on. People would have to realize he is an aging pitcher, though, and shouldn't be expected to be like Ben Sheets in his prime or Sabathia last year.
  23. A lot of the old plasma urban legends are way overstated at this point. The newer models are way less prone to to burn in, and don't use up much more energy than LCD (at least that is my understanding from researching a little while ago). It's hard to go wrong either way, assuming you pick up a decent model. FWIW, we bought a Pioneer Kuro 50" plasma back in February and it's been outstanding so far. It was time to replace our Mitsubishi rear projection set, which was awesome, but took up too much room.
  24. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Red Sox make a run at Lackey. Maybe they trade away some of their existing pitching depth to fill other needs, and sign Lackey. It's not like they can't afford him.
  25. FWIW, MLBTR has a link to John Heyman, stating he thinks the Brewers will try to sign Fielder long term this off-season. Probably doesn't mean much, I guess.
