  1. Exactly. They could trade for someone maybe of the caliber of a Roy Halladay with the salary savings.
  2. That show is almost too depressing for me. Some of the people on there are unbelievably sad and pathetic.
  3. It does seem kind of lame. Wade was quoted as saying that the move would allow them to start evaluating things immediately as far as a replacement, but I don't really see how two weeks really makes much of a difference at this point.
  4. I think it just goes to show the old adage that Milwaukee baseball fans will support a winner, but not a loser.
  5. There's an annoying one for a law firm on WSSP where Sparky (I think) talks about how "Kids deserve to have both parents in their lives", but somewhere in the same ad says, "Maybe you think you're paying too much in child support." That one makes me laugh for some reason.
  6. That's what I think. You don't even hear the usual Weeks fans predicting big things for him next year at this point, and that is pretty telling. You just have no idea of knowing what you'll get out of him at this point. Offering Lopez arbitration is a no brainer...at worst you have two really good 2Bs on your roster, or you get a high draft compensation pick for Lopez.
  7. Sounds like your employees take their work practices from some of mine. The worst was when an employee who had been with us for only about a week texted me on a Monday morning that the tie rods on her car had gone bad and she had to get them replaced, while they were still up north. This was during a camping trip she had told me she was going on. Never heard from her again after repeated phone calls. Later found her listed on the roster of a local school as an employee. Yeah, I wasn't too happy about that one. It's one thing if you suddenly find a better job, but at least have the courtesy to tell your employer what the hell is up.
  8. Sign Jarrod Washburn for 3 years and 23 llion. I think your other moves are OK, but this would be way overpaying for what Washburn will likely give you at this point in his career. He's been terrible this season since getting traded. This would be like a lite repeat version of the Jeff Suppan contract for a team like the Brewers.
  9. I'll definitely be watching Big Bang Theory, along with the Brewers/Cubs game.
  10. I always wondered about those. It's been a few years since I worked in radio so I don't really remember the rules...do the announcers get free services from the companies they endorse, or is that against FCC regulations? I just find it hard to believe Jeff Wagner happens to purchase all these different home improvement services, or Bill Michaels bought a Kinetico water unit, and then those companies just happened to buy air time...
  11. You wouldn't have to pay Looper other than the $1 million buy out. I just do not see the justification for paying Looper that much money when he is not very good, and would be taking money at a position we desperately need to upgrade.
  12. They need to rebuild big time. They should probably look at trying to trade Oswalt or some of their other bigger (aging) pieces and get some youth going on that club. I think Cooper did a good job with what he had to work with, and should hopefully end up with another club eventually.
  13. I agree with trwi7. It would also be nice for the Brewers to continue their trend of letting overpaid under performing guys go and send the message that lack of production isn't going to be tolerated.
  14. I wonder if people are getting a bit tired of them. I think the crazy collecting of them has certainly slacked off. People realize that unless it's a rare variant or something, it's not really going to be that valuable, because everyone else is hoarding them too. Maybe it's time for them to come up with a new collectible item. It's too bad Starting Lineup figures are no longer made, because I thought those were way cooler than any bobblehead.
  15. I think it's just the fact that the team is out of contention, coupled with the Packers game yesterday. I'm not sure a Fielder or Braun (which they did earlier this year) would have drawn many more at this point in the season.
  16. I enjoy listening to Bob & Brian in the morning, and listen online because I don't get good reception in my home office. Anyway, I'm so tired of the commercials for a company called CRN where they try to make it sound like it's an official government program for selling forclosed houses. "I repeat, this is a public announcement." They also say something like "People whose last names start with the letter A-M can call today, listeners with N-Z may call tomorrow starting at 9 AM." I wonder how many people they manage to sucker in with that one.
  17. On a similar note, I always thought he phrase "play action" was kind of an odd one.
  18. Yes, but what about trading Suppan? I kid, I kid... Seriously though, I would probably do this trade. It's not like Suppan is going to be magically much better next season. Bradley allow for letting Cameron walk, and possibly trading guys like Hart as well.
  19. I look at it this way: Would you rather keep Cameron and have basically the same lousy pitching staff, or would you rather save some money by letting Cameron leave and paying a SP who is actually, you know, good?
  20. Reminds me of a joke I heard a while ago (which I will probably butcher here): A Scotsman, an Englishman, and an Irishman all walk into a pub, and each order a pint. Some flies come in through a window, and one lands in each of their pints. The Englishman immediately takes his back to the bar and get a new pint. The Scotsman calmly picks the fly out of his and continues drinking. The Irishman grabs the fly out of his and starts yelling "Spit it out! Spit it out! It's mine!"
  21. He did, but I think he was more upset about how out of hand the game was getting, than for having his personal record broken.
  22. Just so surreal how Coop is the opposing manager on the night when Prince broke his record. Great moment for the franchise, though.
  23. I'd be fine with it. If we can save some decent money to help get a starting pitcher, I think Melvin needs to seriously consider it as an option.
  24. A second place finish for the Crew at this point would be a really nice accomplishment, given how this season has gone in general.
