  1. TracyThom, had the same thing happen on my new Samsung HDTV with Charter, which was just hooked up to regular cable. Nice thing is that I can get the HD feeds for ABC, NBC, and CBS. No FOX, though, for whatever reason. There's some other weird things, like a couple extra home shopping channels and a FOX Business channel and stuff.
  2. So what is Gwynn's "injury?"
  3. I wouldn't trust a vegan (vegetarian?) to have any say in a pro sports team in Milwaukee, at any rate.
  4. Well, frankly, I think it is likely to be one or the other, realistically. Yeah, if we can somehow keep both long term, that would be awesome, but is that realistic? I doubt it.
  5. I've been DVRing these and watching them when I can. I really enjoy these shows, even though I'm just a little bit too young to have seen the AWA...our family didn't get cable until around 1992, a couple years after the AWA folded. My favorite thing so far has been Larry Zbyszko begging on camera for a title match against Nick Bockwinkle and claiming he'll "beat 15 orangutans with my arm tied behind my back to get a title shot." Oh yeah, and pretty much anything with either Stan Hansen or Bruiser "King Kong" Brody is gold.
  6. I was way up in 436 row 21 last night, and could definitely hear it pronounced as "slopper" from the speakers right behind us. They played the video either right before or very early in the game. Kind of weird that you can hear the audio so much better in the "cheap" seats than down closer to the field.
  7. Another nice thing if Braun signs is that the Brewers look better and better in the court of public opinion when it comes to Fielder. Fielder will have nothing to complain about since the Brewers are showing they are willing to sign their young guys to higher contracts. If Fielder's agent isn't willing to come to the table and talk, that's Prince's problem, not Mark Attanasio's.
  8. Leave him in the 9th hole, he's doing great there. One thing at the game last night...I can't remember which Reds player was hitting, but he hit one into the outfield, and one of the Brewers players threw the ball towards first...the ball was wide and basically went over Fielder. Kendall was right on the ball, perfectly lined up with the throw, and stopped it from getting back towards the backstop. I remember thinking "If that was Johnny Estrada catching, the Reds would have a runner on second base right now." Instead, the Reds were held to a single. Just another example of Kendall's excellent defense.
  9. I don't know if it's fair to list Barry Bonds in there, brewers19.
  10. Being at the game last night, I thought that Cueto indeed has good stuff. However, I think guys will start jumping on him a lot more once they get used to him, assuming he doesn't change his approach on the mound.
  11. I'm still not worried about Gagne. It was one fluke bad pitch. I think he'll still be fine this season. If he blows one or two more save opportunities, then I'll start worrying.
  12. He probably should be at this point, at least based on performance so far.
  13. I only caught a little of it. They were talking about it during Charlie Sykes on WTMJ for a while this morning on my drive to work. One of the sick things is that apparently one the parents of the attackers was on some TV show this morning saying that the victim "must have been at least partly responsible."
  14. The main thing is that he is hitting...it's not like he is whiffing out a lot. The home runs will come.
  15. Count me in as someone who hasn't bought into the Cueto hype yet. Do I think he will end up being a solid, or even a very good pitcher? Sure, why not? However, I think the Brewers could pretty easily knock him around tonight. He's pretty young, after all. I will be at the game tonight, so that's what I'm hoping for. My one worry is that the off day yesterday might have "cooled" the Brewers' bats a bit. Hopefully that is not the case.
  16. Maybe they should have like a dozen additional lots, to add to the vast field of parking they already have surrounding the stadium. They could have a "Family Section" lot, a "Tailgating Only" lot, a special "College Student Party" lot, and a "Visiting Fans" lot. Maybe they could pave over that stupid river if they need more space.
  17. I'm going to the game tomorrow, and if Coco appears, I will definitely be booing, both because of how he left the team, and the fact that his appearance would mean a losing situation for the Brewers.
  18. Carlos Lee used to do a TV ad for a car dealer, from what I remember. That's about the only recent one I can recall.
  19. Did anyone determine the point of them showing that old fan repeatedly yesterday?
  20. Personally, I really tempered my expectations after last season. That said, I'm very pleased with the team's performance so far. The nice thing is that the team isn't being carried by just one or two guys. Everyone is contributing. However, I'm not ready to declare the playoffs a lock right now.
  21. Yeah, I had heard talk the Mets could sign him "any day now" on XM last week, but that doesn't seem as likely now.
  22. Well, there were plenty of changes between those two years that signaled the end of the "good" Brewers and the start of the "mediocre" Brewers, IMO. But you're right, I think that was a pretty big catching downgrade, too.
  23. I don't want to get into a big Suppan vs Sheets debate, but I don't see why we can only have one but not the other. We are paying Eric Gagne 10 million this year...he's likely gone after this off-season. That's a pretty big chunk of change off the books that could go towards a Sheets renewal. I'm just saying that it doesn't have to necessarily be one starting pitcher or the other. Frankly, I think a lot on here are undervaluing Suppan's durability. However, Attanasio's comments make it seem unlikely that the Brewers are going to get into some kind of bidding war to keep Sheets anyway.
  24. Of course, if the Brewers make the playoffs this season, maybe there will be a bunch of extra money available? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. They'll turn it around. They have too much talent to continue playing this badly.
