  1. Judging by the chatter I've heard on the local sports stations and seen from friends on Facebook, there are TONS of casual fans that love the Lohse signing. I don't find it hard to believe that it spiked ticket sales.
  2. Let us always remember: http://www.fangraphs.com/not/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/YB.gif http://cdn1.sbnation.com/imported_assets/896484/Yuni1B.gif.opt.gif To be fair to Yuni, the entire team went to "little league" defense and hitting mode in that game.
  3. "There are freaks who... Get off on this stuff. "
  4. We have an owner that has shown he will spend money. Remember when the complaint was always, "When can we ever spend any money? How can we compete with such a low payroll?"
  5. I just renewed my Sam's membership like two months ago (had let it lapse and one of their salespeople stopped at my business). Haven't used it once yet. I suppose that's silly, but I figure even if we use it one time in the next year, it will pay for itself. Closest location is about 20 miles away, so not super convenient.
  6. Plasmas don't die quickly, that's an old myth. I personally own two plasmas (one a Pioneer Kuro, the other is a Panasonic Viera) and I love the picture. Our Pioneer is already four years old and still looks sharp and bright (we watch a pretty good amount of TV too). I still personally think plasma gives you the best and most realistic picture, though LEDs seem to be getting there.
  7. I really dislike the move, bordering on hating it. If it wasn't for losing the draft pick, I could probably accept it, but it sucks given the state of the Brewers' minor league system. If we were signing a superstar and losing the pick, fine, but we're not. I do think Lohse will be more Randy Wolf than Jeff Suppan, and that part is fine. The contract isn't a crippler either if he totally sucks. I just don't like the fact that the Brewers are losing their first round pick for a guy who has only really been good his past two seasons, and is 34 years old. That said he's a Brewer and I'll cheer for him until he warrants otherwise.
  8. So long as it's not the Brewers.
  9. I think this is one of the biggest selling points. The wife and I recently started watching "Freaks and Geeks", which was on about 14 years ago and neither of us ever saw.
  10. It's not like the Brewers have much to lose by keeping him around at this point. If he totally bombs as a reliever, you just DFA him.
  11. One minor thing I would do: Require names on the back of all uniforms. Sorry Yankees, Giants, etc. but it's the 21st century.
  12. If Scott Boras is unhappy, then MLB must be doing something right. It's not like Boras has ever done anything to help out anyone other than himself and his clients when it's a benefit to him.
  13. I like physical discs too but I can't complain about my 8 dollar per month Netflix subscription. Lets me find older movies I've never seen. I figure even if we only stream a couple movies per month with it, it's well worth it.
  14. The 3:05 PM game is on FS-Wisconsin as well.
  15. If it hasn't been mentioned already, make sure you get tickets (and a parking pass if you plan to park in the lots) in advance.
  16. Oh man, I meant to post about that one yesterday. The word "flamboyant" definitely comes to mind.
  17. I've pretty much resigned myself to never seeing the Brewers win a World Series, and I'm only 32. The odds are just stacked too much against it happening.
  18. Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I would ditch the phoneline, but I need a fax line for my business (and the internet based options I've checked out simply won't cut it). Maybe I should just suck it up and pay the $11/mo additional. It's just the principal of the thing that really bugs me.
  19. Probably after NBC bought it I'd guess.
  20. *thread bump* I'm getting very tired of Charter. We get our cable, internet, and phone through them. All I want to do is add a second HD box (for our basement TV) and they want to charge me an additional $11/month for this privilege. I'm already paying $165/mo with taxes and fees to them (granted, we have high speed internet and HBO/Showtime). Anyone think I can get a better deal through Dish or Directv? AT&T Uverse TV is NOT available in our area, unfortunately.
  21. Oh goodness...I'm the biggest Ryan Braun fan in the world, but there is no way he should move back to the infield, ever. Maybe late in his career he can go to 1B, but there is no way he should ever play third base again. I like the idea of moving Davis to first, but the team seems reluctant to do it for whatever reason.
  22. Opening Day this year is going to be rather unpleasant, I fear.
  23. Well, it's probably going to come down to which teams have the best scouting departments, which seems like how it should be. I'm in the camp that says this is long overdue.
  24. Have we had one overnight snowfall this year? It seems like we constantly get the mid to late morning snow falls, which really mess with my driving for work. Hopefully this winter will finally be over soon.
  25. I thought this past week's episode was pretty funny (or least funny enough), but I can't see making that into a series.
