  1. For some mid-game levity, the Rangers decided to pull a "Team Dempsey" in Baltimore. http://www.twitvid.com/6ZGPF
  2. He's still gotta make pitches, error or not. I sure hope it doesn't take Doug as long as it did with Soup. Wolf isn't good.
  3. He was absolutely correct on that. Zambrano started his move before he stepped off.
  4. Fernando Vina would be proud of that HBP. Prince definitely leaned into that pitch.
  5. Doesn't seem like he trusts it. Out of the 40 pitches he's thrown, 35 of them gotta be fastballs.
  6. [quote name=jjfanec wrote: Spin it however you want but Marquette has not been good in the tourney since the final four run. Heck they missed the tourney a couple times and are hovering around a 10 seed right now. I will give you the McNeal injury being a killer but Dominic James (nowhere near a Tucker or Harris) was an overrated player by his senior year. His scoring average went down every year, he was a terrible 3 point shooter, and become pretty bad from the line. It hurt but it was not a crippling injury. They were leading the way because they had played the poorer part the Big East to start that year. The finished at Nova, Louisville, Pitt and Cuse and UCONN at home. That would have been a bad stretch with him more than likely. [/b] You have to be joking. Yes, he wasn't a good shooter, but Dominic was an excellent PG, a great ballhandler, and a lockdown perimeter defender. He ran that team beautifully that year. Trust me, I watched every second that team played. Losing a 3 year starter at PG (the most important position in college ball) two weeks from the end of the season is a killer. Let's look at those remaining games. They were even with #1 UConn (the game he got hurt) with 5 minutes left and lost by 10 I think. They got beat handily at Nova and Pitt. Lost at UL by 2. Lost to Cuse in OT. And lost at the buzzer to Villanova in NYC. Lost to Mizzou by 4 in the Tournament. When a game comes down to a few possessions, you can be damn sure that having their starting PG would have made the difference.
  7. I think that argument about being "set up" for tourney success is a reach, especially when you consider all the factors that go into it. No two situations are the same, and matchups and luck are so important in the tournament. UW beat 3 double-digit seeds in the Elite Eight season. Full marks for beating them, but that's still pretty fortunate. Also, the injury bug has something to do with it. Take a Tucker, or a Harris off of those UW teams in March and they wouldn't have made it as far. Hell, look what happened when Butch got hurt, they were a 2 seed and flamed out in Chicago. That's what MU has had to deal with. They lost both McNeal and James in separate years. When McNeal got hurt, MU was heading toward a 5/6 seed. That dropped them to an 8. The 09 team was leading the Big East through 11 games when James got hurt. Do I know for certain that they would have gotten out of the first weekend in those years? Of course not. But that killed any chance of it happening, especially in 09.
  8. JJ, Marquette has been one of the most efficient offensive teams in the country, despite being just a "bunch of athletes." They typically take care of the basketball, take good shots, and get to the free throw line a ton. Not bad for a bunch of kids who are too dumb to get into UW-Madison. Marquette's problems have come on the defensive end and on the glass. In previous years, that was in large part to not having any size whatsoever. Bo does a hell of a job, but that system has its limitations. The teams who win at the elite level can play games at varying speeds. UW hasn't been able to do that. Most of the time, they're able to control the tempo. But teams that speed them up, and run a lot of motion offensively (see Davidson and Cornell) can really give them trouble.
  9. As a huge MU fan, I think Rosiak has been fantastic on the MU beat. He's a trip on twitter as well. JS got this one right. He'll be a good addition.
  10. I loved it when it was a free event right before opening day. I'm not an autograph guy, or someone who blows a lot of money at the shop, but I am a sentimental sap when it comes to baseball. I loved just being able to grab a dog, walk around the park, watch BP, and look at that field again, knowing that there would be baseball played there for the next 6 months. It was kind of my way to get ready for the season before the crowds and chaos of Opening Day.
  11. Thanks Cappy for your years of service in Milwaukee. You always carried yourself like a pro on and off the field. Best of luck!
  12. How about RF, with Corey sliding over to CF? Gonna need someone there if Cain heads to KC. A man can dream, no?
  13. Seriously gripping stuff. The raw emotion is so powerful to see.
  14. I'm with you, FV. It was alright, but seemed really, really forced.
  15. Target Field is awesome. And in a very fun area as well.
  16. The one encounter with a Brewer that stands out was in Philly, in 2002 I think. I was still in HS. Was vacationing out there with my family, and we planned it while the Brewers were out there. So one of the days we went to the Dave and Buster's out there to help kill some time. I had my Brewers cap on, as did my brother. A guy comes up and asks, "Hey, are you all from Milwaukee?" It was Ray King. My brother, dad, and I recognized him right away, but my mom had no idea. He introduced himself, chatted with us a bit, and asked if we were going to the game that night. We mentioned that we were planning on it, but hadn't bought tickets yet. He said, "Don't worry about it, I'll leave you guys 4 tickets at will call. Just mention my name." He took a picture with my brother and I and went on his way. Very nice guy. So we get to Veterans Stadium to pick up the tickets, and they were behind home plate, like 15 rows up. Awesome seats. Have always rooted for Ray since.
  17. Don't need a metric to show me that the Brewers are the worst defensive team in the game. Just brutal.
  18. Gotta think it'd be Brockman now. I like the Gooden deal a lot. Having another post option that can play both on the block or face up 15 ft out will free up Bogut a ton. Andrew is already a very good passer for a center, and they can work the high-low game. Maggette was the one that had me curious, but at this point Hammond has earned the benefit of the doubt. They're deep 1-12.
  19. Bucks have signed Keyon Dooling. And the backup PG spot now locked up. Also rumored to be trading for John Brockman from Sacramento. Really like the mix of veterans and younger players that they've assembled. Stocked 1-12 on the roster.
  20. When I lived in Tosa I used to go to Felsing's on 92nd and Burleigh by Mount Mary College. Fair, honest, and they do good work.
  21. NOOOOO!! Squad 7 would be devastated! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Diener actually did a good job with Indiana and Orlando as a backup when healthy. He can shoot, doesn't turn the ball over, and can run the offense. Defense would be a question, but he couldn't be any worse than Ridnour. In fact, his game reminds me a lot of Luke's, but a few million dollars cheaper.
