  1. One thing that has really been bothering me...For such a good athlete, when Rickie dives for a ball moving to his left, I swear he looks as if he has no control over his body at all. Has he ever come up with a ball in this scenario?
  2. I'll give the year more than a week+ to make that determination. I think you almost have to throw last year out due to injury. That aside though, as someone else indicated, this year is kind of make or break. On this team he doesn't need to be great, but he needs to be good.
  3. You do realize protien is found in things other than meat, don't you?
  4. You guys just don't get it...its not complicated. To many here, because Yost makes out the lineup, the lineup has to be wrong. Its not about hitters hitting or not hitting, those things are due to where Ned puts them in the lineup. Just look at the title of the thread.
  5. Barring injury or something in the meantime, Bush should/will be removed from the rotation. The impact on the bullpen remains to be seen. Turnbow stunk on ice again last night and is looking more and more like he is becoming the odd man out as far as the bullpen is concerned. With the number of guys they have out there, I would not be surprised to see them ask him to take a minor league assignment or cut ties completely. It continues to look more likely, not less, that it just may not happen for him here.
  6. I'm sorry, does anyone here actually have the power to make these decisions? Seems to me people are just talking about it in an all things being equal scenario. Of course the Brewers will make the decision when the time comes.
  7. Obviously a lot can happen in a couple weeks, but I would not be at all surprised to see the Brewers wave goodbye to Gabe Gross (ideallt via trade - though unlikley), so he can go somewhere he may actually get an opportunity to play. After 3-4 years or whatever its been, and looking at the depth chart, its pretty clear that is not going to happen for him here.
  8. Jenkins used to live at the Einstein Bagles/Starbucks in Brookfield. I see Sheets tooling around Brookfield quite a bit.
  9. Well, the way things have gone thus far, this could be a good thing.
  10. Well, that's it for him then.
  11. Not to say that he absolutely can't do it, but there is nothing in Kerry Wood's history to suggest he will be a good closer. He has good stuff and all that, but has never closed in his life, and with teh exceptoon of teh end of last year, he frankly has never worked out of the bullpen. In his 9 years, he has appeared in the 9th inning 10 times I believe. Someone please tell me what makes him a closer?
  12. GAgne will be ok. Wood never should have been given the closer job to begin with.
  13. Chicago is a great city. Was just there this weekend as a matter of fact. The restaurants alone, make it great. Every time I go, I get more and more angry about the lack of options we have around here. I personally wouldn't want to live there, but I understand why people do.
  14. I have continually heard experts talk about how the difference between the Cubs and Brewers, and the reason the Cubs will win the division is their respective rotations. Interested how people feel about this. Is the Cubs' rotation really appreciably better than the Brewers'? I guess I am just not seeing it. I assume it is largely based on Sheet's DL-ness vs. Zambrano's horse-ness, and that makes some sense to me, but after that...Well, I just think it evens out a bit. On a somewhat related note, I have also heard that Kerry Wood at the back of the bullpen is an advantage for the Cubs. Come again? This guy has played 9 seasons and has worked a 9th inning something like 10 times total. Couple that lack of any sort of experience with his propensity to break down, and explain to me how Kerry Wood, Closer makes the Cubs better.
  15. I declined a ticket offer, and looking at that camera, boy am I glad I did. I will be shocked if this game is played today.
  16. Ask me in about 6 months. All depends of ted Lilly looks in the mirror and is reminded that he is in fact Ted Lilly, and not the guy who pitched for the Cubs last year.
  17. Not sure what world you guys who are saying this would be a bad move are living in, but from the Brewers perpective, with talents like these, its pretty much now or never. Sure they will be both be controlled and cheap for another couple years, but with every day that passes closer to Free Agency, there is obviously less and less incentive for the player to even consider it. You have to go through 1-year contracts, potential arbiration hearings, etc. and there is nothing positive that is going to come out of that. Once they start going through that stuff, you can pretty much say goodbye to keeping these guys beyond teh period you own them. Obviously that is not something teh Brewers want to see happen. There is a pretty brief window of time where you can make it appealing to share the risk with the player. Next year, year after, its probably too late and the players will simply decide to take their chances with arbitration and FA. The Brewers are in a posirtuion to somewhat control the negotiations at this point. As time goes by, they lose more and more of that control, and the price goes up.
  18. Slobber, and there is no question about it - again!
  19. Villy obviously placed in the 4th spot so that he starts the home opener. Obviously these things change over time. If they followed the Cubs series up with another couple road games, I gotta believe it would go Sheets, Suppan, Villy, Bush, Parra. With the way the weather is around the Midwest these days, that order is going to last about 2 days before things get juggled around. Heck, we may be lucky if they get a single game in at Wrigley.
  20. I hadd about as much doubt about Villanueva being in the rotation as I did Sheets or Suppan. I don't care what anybody said, he was never not going to be in the rotation.
  21. I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're trying to say. I'm saying if we are in the playoffs this October, its possible if not likely that we will have made a move at midseason to strengthen the rotation. A move to create a bit more strength and experience at the top, and depth throughout..Somethimg more along the lines of Sheets, TBD, Gallardo, Suppan, Bush/Villenueva/Parra.
  22. Actually, if we are still playing in October, the answer is probably that one of those 3 starters is probably not on the team yet, and won't be until sometime in July.
  23. I heard something a couple weeks ago to the effect that Kerry Wood has worked the 9th inning something like 10-12 times total in his 9 years. Translation: He has absolutely no experience closing out games. Does that mean he can't do it? Of course not. Does this hav ethe potential to be a huge stretch? You better believe it does.
  24. If this pan's out, it is the best news of all, as Soriano's unwillingness to do any sort of situational hitting whatsoever, makes him a rather average hitter in other spots in the lineup. Cubs have a very solid team, but I guess I'm not buying the hype. This move however would also seem to indicate that the Brian Roberts deal is likely.
  25. I think this is good news for the Brewers. I also think Marmol will be in that role around the time the weather warms up.
