  1. The writer: "I hear you guys are going to Milwaukee." Mrs. Looper: "That'll have to come from Braden." So, if it weren't true, the wife would have just said no, right? She obviously wants that news to come from her husband, not her. Ahhh..no Tom, maybe she's just smart enough not to get involved when it comes to answering reporter's questions about her husband's career.
  2. Actually, I think he's 4-0 in the postseason: EDIT: Take that back ....2-0 http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/L/Ploopb001.htm
  3. Do you mean they have Lawrie working out at 2B?
  4. I can't believe how long they are taking to make an announcement regarding the replacement.
  5. At what point is a player designated as a top player who gets 'super two' status? Does this mean that after 2 years (or maybe 2+) of service they are eligible for arby? I would have thought that Fielder would have qualified for this, but it does not appear that he did.
  6. I'm not getting the whole argument that Ripken probably used steroids because it helps with quick recovery. Does it help prevent injuries too? Also, what about McGwire. That guy battled injuries his whole career and I'm pretty sure that not too many people would disagree that he was a user of peds.
  7. I still don't get this. So some players have 4 years of arbitration?
  8. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3892759 When was Howard eligible for free agency before this contract?
  9. I really doubt any guys who have come up in the last couple years are probably using steroids or HGH too much...the testing in MiLB is actually pretty stringent, from what I understand. If I'm not mistaken, there is no way to test for HGH, thus the comment by ILuvDaBush. I'm troubled by the fact that certain records have fallen or may fall with the aid of PEDs. However, what bothers me more is that everyone is under suspicion. As already mentioned in this thread, people are stating that they would not be surprised at anyone mentioned as testing positive. Names like Griffey, Ripken, and Thomas have been mentioned. Any player who puts up big numbers (past, present, or future) will be looked at with a curious eye. I feel sorry for the player who is just a good player and who is clean but has to live under the current cloud of suspicion that has overtaken the game. Although, I guess I shouldn't feel to sorry. They are still making lots of money to play baseball.
  10. Do you think in the Hollywood version the A's will go on to win the World Series and along the way an Oakland father will strengthen his relationship with his family?
  11. Yeah, I have heard rumbling about a Moneyball movie for a couple of years now. That was my reaction too. I read the book and thought it was interesting, but thought of it more of something that hard core baseball fan "stat-heads" are interested in...not as a feature film with Brad Pitt.
  12. You know the dates of the giveaways? I could not find anything on the Brewers site. If it's there somewhere, can someone direct me to it?
  13. Wow, a few months ago I was going to do a GWSY with this guy, but I couldn't find a good picture. I can't believe I didn't get this one.
  14. That's funny...I was thinking more along the lines of Hunter Thompson's brother.
  15. So, are they making this available on PS2 this year? Ohhhhh, my son is not going to be happy about that if that's true. edit: it appears from my research that there will be a PS2 version available. Hopefully that's true.
  16. He looks really familiar, but I don't have a guess.
  17. I have not seen it either. However, I swear sometimes when they are doing the studio show, the picture quality almost appears to be HD.
  18. I guess I have become my parents. I had to look up this guy on IMDB.com. I've never seen any of the movies he is in. The whole Batman thing doesn't really interest me that much (at least not since the first movie with Jack Nicholson - of course I was 23 then)
  19. They are supposed to open a Sonic at the new Shoppes of Fox River that is being built on Sunset Drive in Waukesha. However, I guess the powers that be in Waukesha tabled it because they didn't like the architecture that Sonic presented. The Sonic representatives apparently left city hall in a hurry. If anyone is familiar with the area that they are building this shopping center, I can't imagine for the life of me what type of architecture would not pass the test.
  20. I always imagined Weeks putting up better numbers than Fielder. This has not been the case so far, but I still have the feeling he is going to have a breakout year at some point and time. I'm just not sure how much more patience the Brewers will have in waiting for this. This could be a do or die year for him as far as establishing himself as an everyday player vs. a platoon/utility type guy.
  21. Just got a chance to watch the episode last night. Didn't see the end. I thought I set the DVR to go an extra 30 minutes, but I must have not hit "save settings" or something. Mark me down as thinking the Jack Black/Cloris Leachman stuff was funny. The other part that my wife and I were really laughing at was the whole CPR training scene.
  22. What's a DP? (other than double play)
  23. Yeah, as I take a closer look at his stats, I realize his offense is not a good as I thought it was.
  24. I'm not a huge Springsteen fan, but I enjoy his music and thought it was one of the better SB half time shows. If you were between the ages of 15 and 35 during the late 70's and into the 80's it was very hard not to like his music and stage presence. It also helped if you were a male. For whatever reason females never seemed to like him as much. I had friends in high school and college who just thought we was the greatest thing to ever happen to music. I definitely prefer his earlier music. He's a bit to folksy for me now. edit: Ever notice (my best Andy Rooney impersonation) when some one says "I'm not a huge 'fill in the blank' fan" or "I'm not a huge fan of 'fill in the blank'", it sounds like they hate 'fill in the blank'. All they have stated is that they are not a HUGE fan. That doesn't mean they are not a fan.
