  1. Hard to screw up an inning any better then our coaching staff did here. First Ned then Dale. 3 hits and a walk in the inning and no runs so far. wow
  2. "So based on this, yeah I guess walking CC to get RB to make an out would be a good short-term decision" Actually it would just be a bad decision that worked out well. Just like playing seven, two unsuited against pocket Aces......winning doesn't make the decision any better....it just means you got lucky.
  3. So walking Craig Counsell to pitch to Ryan Braun is a good idea as long as Braun makes an out? Just want to make sure I understand the logic correctly.
  4. Just another routine 1,2, 3 inning for Gagne...................
  5. Who pitches the 8th? I get the feeling its going to be Gagne........
  6. Especially when its 1st and 2nd and 1 out. Take the walk if you can and get the lead run to third so you can score a run without a hit. If he throws a strike you still are in a favorable count situation on the next pitch.
  7. Just when I think Rickie can't get any worse at turning the double play he manages to take it to a new level.....................
  8. "There's no way to know if TGJ is a good rally starter. His mediocre OBP suggests he's not really that great at starting a rally" I think TGJ specialty is ending rallies as opposed to starting them......=).
  9. Yeah putting Braun on waivers would be a real "deke". 1. No chance the Brewers would trade Braun. check 2. Brewers just signed him to an 8 year contract at reasonable money. Check 3. He is the best hitter on the best Brewer team in 16 years. check Yeah.....that would real fool the other GMs into thinking Braun might be avalable......
  10. The chances are 0 %.
  11. Does Ned know the 3rd baseman doesn't have to hit sixth?
  12. Didn't it seem like he almost quick pitched him there? Perfect pitch is right!
  13. "I really don't see the point in Haren signing this deal unless he is a member of that rare breed of athlete that isn't always wooed by the gigantic contract. If he's just happy in Arizona and wanted to stay there, I like him even more now." I read an article today in which he said the following "I'm not the kind of guy who wants to cash it in and make a huge, ridiculous contract," said Haren, who said he decided to make Phoenix his family home after the trade from Oakland. "They approached me, and I wanted to stay."
  14. "Not true at all with your basketball thing. When you receive 2 technical fouls you have to leave the game or a severe flagrant foul you have to leave the game. Also in football if you hit the ref or start a fight you have to leave . " Ah...thats because in those cases the refs MAKE them leave. Obviously if a player is kicked out of a game he has to leave but thats not the issue here. We are talking about Pitchers being allowed to leave because they can't play anymore not because they have been kicked out by the refs.
  15. It occured to me that this whole incident could have been avoided if it wasn't considered normal or accepted behavior for pitchers to go into the clubhouse, shower and leave once they are removed from a game. This is one of those baseball things that doesn't happen in other sports. If a player fouls out of a basketball game he still stays on the bench and supports the team even though he can't play again. In football even non active players stand on the sidelines with the team for the entire game. Prince shouldn't have pushed Parra. That is clear but for the life of me I can't understand why all players aren't required to stay in the dugout until the game is over.
  16. Could somebody tell me what the Brewers team OPS are against righties and lefties? It can't be my imagination that we just get shut down way too often against even mediocre right handed pitching. Watching this offense is just disgusting.
  17. I don't have the ops figures but lefties are hitting .317 against him and righties still a respectable 280. The big thing with Arroyo are his home road splits. He is decent at home and horrible on the road. As usual we don't get the whole scoop from our announcing team.
  18. So if Arroyo is tough on righties but gets killed by lefties (as Rock and Anderson have stated) then why are Branyon and Durham on the bench tonight ? I mean its not like Weeks/Hardy are tearing the cover off the ball or anything...........
  19. Sabathia's throw was plenty good enough for Weeks to turn that into an easy double play. Catch it step away and throw. Any big league 2nd baseman should make that play. Hardy should have been able to make the play on the rbi single as well but the Weeks play was really routine.
  20. Haudricourt asked Melvin about the possiblity of Hart moving to center in the future and he basically said that it is not going to happen. The Brewers see Hart as a corner outfielder not a centerfielder. FWIW
  21. How many more trades do you expect Melvin to make? lol .We just faced the best team in the National League and they kicked our asses. I doubt Melvin could make any reasonable trade that could change the fact that the Cubs are just better. We can still make the playoffs but this team is going to have to put this series behind them and start beating the teams they should beat again.
  22. They are down 5-1 in the top of the 9th. CV and Riske have already been used.....I don't think using Shouse here is really a big deal....the game is over. Save the rest of the Bullpen for tomorrow....we will need it I'm sure.
  23. It really is amazing that in the biggest series of the year we don't even have 1 player who is playing at or above their expected level of performance. Prince has got some hits but has hit with no power. I mean Manny Parra has been our most impessive hitter!!! The Cubs have outplayed us in every facet of the game. How can you go a whole series without 1 hit with RISP?
  24. "Why would any pitcher walk a player who doesn't have the ability to hit a ball out of the park?" I agree with you but why do pitchers keep walking Ryan Theriot then ? He has more walks then Derrick Lee. Fukodome isn't a power hitter and he also walks alot. If you have a good eye, work the count and don't try to hit a home run every at bat you can draw walks. Unfortunately for us Gwynn isn't Fukodome or Theriot.
