  1. Just thought it's interesting to note that at some point last Tuesday or Wednesday, Kottaras decided against becoming a free agent and is now officially a Milwaukee Brewer. Milwaukee is about as wide open as it gets for catching opportunity, so I guess it's not too big of a surprise.
  2. Yes we do. In the near future.
  3. I wouldn't mind Millwood for a year, but his ERA was a bit on the lucky side last year, it seems. His FIP, K/9, BB/9, HR/9, GB/FB all went the wrong way from 2008 and his velocity has dropped every year since 2005.
  4. It's the same song from 2001, but this version of the song is in Being There. Being There is an incredible movie.
  5. Cust is Adam Dunn bad in the OF. He needs to play DH or 1B. The Brewers don't have a place for him.
  6. This was mentioned first in the minor league forum and I don't mean to steal Mass Haas' thunder, but Capuano was also signed to a minor league deal.
  7. I just heard a Who Let the Dogs Out ringtone on someone's cell phone. Whoa!
  8. I think very few, if any, people thought or assumed you were lying or spinning anything. It appears you just said you would lie/spin if the audience was large enough, and that's kind of disturbing, but that's not what the point is. What the point is, is that if instead of typing ambiguously: "This isn't true at all." You could have typed something to the effect of: "The article doesn't give the whole story. While Brent realizes he has the potential and physical ability to compete in other sports besides baseball and that there is interest in him from a number of college athletic departments, he is totally committed to baseball and playing for the Brewers." It would have taken about 30 extra seconds, and would have explained your position and Brent's position much more clearly. Then the 27 people that slavishly pull themselves to this little website each day would have been glad that Brent is committed to the Brewers and would have had not much else to say about it. As long as you're here, you might as well be clear.
  9. Wellemeyer's velocity and strikeouts were down a bit last year. He still throws hard enough, but I'd only be interested if he was cheap and Peterson thinks he could do something with him because he was pretty bad last year and isn't getting any younger.
  10. Cain has more tools than Schafer and has about 320 more PA above A-ball, so he's a little more advanced. I'm a big Logan Schafer fan and think he's the more solid bet, but I can see the argument in a list like this where tools/potential wins out.
  11. I think you're confusing the number of people that read this board with the number of outs a team gets in a baseball game. Attempting to belittle (literally) your audience doesn't seem like something that's a terribly good thing to do. You never know who's reading (or apparently how many). ANY logical explanation beyond the terse "This isn't true at all" statement would have put this whole thing to rest immediately.
  12. Here's the top 10 list, just for reference: 1.) Alcides Escobar 2.) Brett Lawrie 3.) Mat Gamel 4.) Eric Arnett 5.) Jonathon Lucroy 6.) Kentrail Davis 7.) Zach Braddock 8.) Lorenzo Cain 9.) Jake Odorizzi 10.) Kyle Heckathorn I too find the exclusion of Salome odd. I'd put him ahead of Cain and Heckathorn without a second thought.
  13. According to Adam McCalvy, John Halama feels he is on the verge of signing a minor league deal with Milwaukee. Low 80's gas here we come! Eat your heart out, Capuano. It's good to have depth I guess, but if Halama has significant innings for the Brewers next year, it's quite possible we'll be in trouble.
  14. According to Ken Rosenthal, the Brewers have discussed swapping Hart for Lowe, with Atlanta eating some of Lowe's salary. I'd have a tough time doing that. Lowe's GB% dropped 4 percentage points last year, and he's gonna be 39 when the contract is up. And we'd be dealing Hart at a low value point.
  15. Does your friend spend a lot of time in Tim Lincecum's car? The right guy (IMO) won the Cy Young in the AL and NL... that has to be pretty rare.
  16. I'm curious to know more about his defense. The reports I've read range from terrible to competent to pretty decent.
  17. Good pickup. I hope that if they do go with Kottaras/Lucroy they make it a soft platoon so Lucroy gets a fair amount of starts vs. RHPs. We don't need another young player coming up, only to get sporadic playing time. If Macha won't give Lucroy at least 3 starts a week, I'd rather they go with Kottaras/Rivera. Or someone besides Macha.
  18. Russ Adams could make a bid to fill Counsell's shoes, though I'm not sure how Adams' defense is at short.
  19. I'd be surprised if Escobar is given the chance to start again. He's going to be 34 and has pitched 25.2 innings in the majors and minors combined in the previous two years. He might be worth pursuing as a reliever, though.
  20. The big difference between the pair's drug abuse is that McGwire used performance enhancing drugs and Agassi used performance depressing drugs. At least, I don't know what correlation meth would have to success on the court. Agassi has nothing to lose by admitting it - it was a hindrance. He may even make some money off the admission. McGwire, on the other hand, still might have a lot to lose.
  21. Green 0-5 today, dropping his slash line to .159/.302/.159. It's only 44 AB, but that's a crappy 44 AB. Most of his lastest appearances have come as a DH, too. It's looking pretty likely that he'll be headed back to AA next year. On the other hand, Rob Wooten had another strong outing today, striking out two in an inning of work. He's struck out 9 and walked 1 in 6.2 innings, in an admittedly small sample.
  22. Already being talked about at some length in this thread on the minor league forum.
  23. Randy Winn. He's coming off a poor year at the plate and turns 36 next June, but he still plays very good defense, has decent speed, and would make a very solid veteran 4th OF/RH bat off the bench. And he'll cost a fraction of what he's been paid in the past.
