  1. You should talk to the people in my suburban neighborhood, then, who have had block parties the last two days in the nice weather. If you believe most people are 'staying home' unless they're going to work providing 'essential services', you're incorrect. A lot of people are doing what they're supposed to do, but there are also a lot that are only doing so when it doesn't create an inconvenience for themselves.
  2. The Governor called a special session of the legislature to move the election today, and the legislature responded saying they won’t move it. Hope you like super long quarantines!
  3. Since the CARES act was signed into law last Friday. The Paycheck Protection Loan provisions provide funds for payroll expenses to continue paychecks to employees, including the owners.
  4. Every business is essential. If it provides a service and people go to it for goods or services it is essential. This is inherently untrue. There are more than a few comically unnecessary 'services' and 'goods' that you simply don't need to survive. If you don't need it to maintain your health, feed your family, or maintain the safety of your shelter, it's non-essential.
  5. I tried OOTP this year for the first time following many as a Mogul player. Very happy with the switch, and very impressed so far. Doesn't hurt that OOTP seems to really like Milwaukee's roster of hitters based on my results so far....
  6. It would actually be an incredible help if the masks were available in such a quantity. It doesn't protect you as much as it protects you from spreading. That would be pretty huge for asymptomatic people. Of course that assumes people use them correctly and don't touch their face etc. It isn't a bad idea to encourage people to use those homemade cloth masks if they have them. It is certainly miles better than nothing. I'm betting the cloth masks is the guidance we'll eventually get on that too. Any sort of official mask should be saved for medical professionals and others that need them for their profession.
  7. It is indeed an absolute embarrassment and completely mind boggling that anyone thinks that having it as scheduled is a good idea.
  8. Loved Boardwalk Empire. Like most shows, it was time for it to go by the end, but the fact that it had a typical HBO limited run made it so it didn’t go on too long.
  9. People opposed to the quarantine love to quote statistics like this, and in my view, it's as apples-to-oranges and as irresponsible to cite as the deaths relative to 9/11 is. It's not a great comparison, not one I would use. But the fact that most people would agree that we can't close the country for a month to save 10 people is proof in itself that lives do in fact have a price. The debate over that price is a fair one, but there is a price and that conversation is already taking place. I don't disagree with the premise of your thought process at all (though again, I disagree with that specific analogy's use here). What I disagree with is the apparent belief by some that those considerations aren't being factored into these decisions already. Of course those things have been discussed and weighed at the highest levels of decision making, and what we're seeing is the result of those conversations and decisions. I'm also a bit perplexed that so many people (not saying it's anyone here) are so sick of the measures after just two weeks that they're calling for changes to lessen all of this, while literally today the Federal Government is releasing MORE restrictive guidelines for the next month. Sorry as well for your loss.

  11. What are you basing your "as far as I know" assumption on?
  12. Fair enough, though interestingly Nick Korte of OvertheCap is one of the sources saying the Packers will get a 4th for Bulaga: https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2020/03/18/packers-projected-to-get-mid-round-compensatory-picks-for-blake-martinez-bryan-bulaga/
  13. Do you have a link to that? Everything I've seen published says that the Packers will get a 4th for Bulaga....
  14. Started Tiger King tonight as well. Wow.
  15. Oh ok. Yeah as far as I'm concerned, if your employer is allowing you to work from home, it's none of their business what I'm doing with my kids as long as I'm productive and meeting job requirements. Thanks, this is exactly my point, expressed more clearly. If I'm not letting stuff fall through, why should it matter?
  16. Outlet covers are a wonderful thing. I meant the collective you, and the point remains the same. The good news is that MMSD has, as expected, already begun walking this back when they were called out on it. It was a poorly thought out, heartless, absurd policy. Truly disappointing that it took a revelation to the media for that to be realized by the district. For a district that struggles with a lot of things, including staff retention, I'd think a lot of those teachers will have that in mind when their contract renewals come up next time.

  18. Maybe because it's tone deaf and heartless? Again, if your employer has not, find a new employer when all of this is done. You find out a lot about a company (and people, too) based on how they act in a time like this. Work someplace where they put you and your family ahead of their personal profits.

  20. What makes teachers special that they should be able to care for their children while working? He even said he wouldn’t be able to work as well doing it...what more needs to be said. If you think teachers would be treated 'special' by being allowed to work from home during this and caring for their kids at the same time, I'd suggest that you should look for a new employer. Both my wife and I have specifically been allowed to work from home by our separate employers so that we can care for our kids, and almost all of our friends and neighbors have too.

  22. Absolutely absurd. And now that it's made the media, I'd expect it walked back quickly....

  24. While likely isn't 100%, it certainly is more certain that possibly or probably. I don't think likely or probably are accurate at this point. They won't go 0 to 100, as they'll have some sort of 'spring training-lite' to get arms back up to full speed. I personally think that though it's possible, I don't think it's likely.
