  1. For the last time, unless you have a link, this is pure speculation. FORBES VALUES DO NOT INDICATE PROFITS, and as many others have pointed out, OPERATING INCOME DOES NOT EQUAL PROFITS. You DO NOT know what the Brewers cleared, unless you are privy to info that isn't public to my knowledge.
  2. No, but they could. And I believe that mentality is behind what caused the Great Recession.
  3. Play nice, guys.
  4. I think about 80% of the target audience does not care about analytics and modern baseball theory. I'm a diehard fan and some of the stats are above me and that's totally fine with me. If the Brewers were to hire a "color guy" who went into detail about advanced metrics it would bore the viewing audience to death. That’s very fair.
  5. I appreciate Bill's loyalty to the team and genuine love of Milwaukee and the fans, but he's just a typical aging former player who hasn't fully bought into analytics and modern baseball theory. Not really a slam on him, as he's probably better than most color guys out there, but I think we're all interested in this next generation of players and the insights they might bring to the game. But we could have far, far worse. We're also really spoiled with fantastic PBP guys in this state.
  6. perez is a utility infielder. If he appears on the mound more than 3 times this season, something is wrong. You see Albers getting lit up like the proverbial Christmas tree? And Perez would be doing better?
  7. I do realize you didn’t bring it up, but you offered your criticism on the topic and thus I responded to it. You can care if you like, but I also think that’s a bit unfair. I think criticizing someone who responds the way 99% of people do when your personal appearance or the way you look is joked about is just looking for a way to find something wrong with a public persona.
  8. Where was this(if you happen to recall)? I remember Rodgers actually saying on I think the Mike McCarthy show that he doesn't like it when people say that to him, but I never actually knew if or when that happened. In fact, I thought there was a segment where guys talked about Aaron and they talked about how sensitive he was and they even brought this up. I'm thinking it was Clay and another guy, but I don't remember exactly. What a stupid thing to worry about though. You're regarded as the most physically gifted person to play the position. Who cares if Bar guy #3 thinks you look taller on TV. Get over it. And I guess I'd counter with, why do you care that he cares? If somebody came up to you on the street and commented on something regarding your appearance or the way you look, do you have a right to react negatively to that? Yep. Does he lose that right because he's an athlete? I don't think so. He didn't slug the guy, he politely told him that he didn't appreciate it. Couldn't be less of an issue, IMO.
  9. I thought Dunne's article painted Murphy in a fairly positive light, or at least in regards to the recent happenings. Of course McCarthy's view of his handling of the 2018 season is poor, but this seems to shed some light on what Murphy's motivations are/were.
  10. Barnes and Williams had two key innings, keeping the Cards off the board and making that winnable in the 9th. Nice to have a win where guys like them and Gamel contribute in addition to the typical Cain/Yelich heroics.
  11. Correct... we're not fans of posts that blur expressing an opinion vs. a statement of facts without some sort of backing information. And when the source/information is unverifyable, we typically view that with immense skepticism, whether the source is 'googling' or a hypothetical 'source' associated with inside information.
  12. Enlighten us. Please provide your backing data and you're more likely to convince people that your opinion is anything other than just that. If people really want to get information all they have to do is google. Take all of an hour or two or three. I promise it’s worth the time. And it is enlightening. If it's that easy to find, you should have no problems linking to it here....

  14. I'm just nervous about relying on Nelson for much, at least as a starter. Anderson is certainly a valid option, though, but they'll have to strech him out in case of an injury mid-season.
  15. I agree, Brew4U. I'm fine rolling with what we have. I'm sure, though, that at some point we'll need depth due to injury or ineffectiveness. And that does roll into the question of what we can afford. Injury contingency is exactly what the Brewers are probably worried about having reserves for....
  16. I'm sure the Brewers have a price in mind, and are keeping in touch with Kimbrel's people should he budge on his demands. Does that equal 'trying to get him'? Possibly, I'd guess. But there are a lot of unknowns.... do the Brewers want to keep flexibility for the deadline? Is Kimbrel willing to even take a short-term high AAV deal or not? Does he even want to play for Milwaukee? Are his medicals clean? We don't know the answers to any of those questions. Anything on our end is pure speculation.
  17. I think the point is that having one more starter gives flexibility to either use one of the starters as a way to bolster the bullpen, or insurance against ineffectiveness should one of them prove unready. That's the reason I'd support signing him.
  18. Possibly he’s the 5th starter and they don’t need him first time through because of off days? If he's only good enough to be the 5th starter, I'm glad the Brewers didn't up their offer for him in 2017.
  19. A 3 games to 1 series win over a good Cards team would be a fantastic way to open the season. Looking forward to Corbin's first start very much!
